Hillary Rodham Clinton was interviewed for a “Chair Chat,” an online series hosted by South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman, Jaime Harrison. In the interview, Clinton was asked about a number of non-political topics including her granddaughter and her favorite TV shows. But a number of political topics were covered as well including race, education, and income inequality. The interview was filed on July 23 and published August 3, and the full video of the interview is above.
Planned Parenthood has long been a political lightning rod, but candidates like Hillary Rodham Clinton understand its importance to women’s health. As Congress threatens to defund Planned Parenthood, Clinton supports it. In a video released by her campaign today, Clinton calls out Republican candidates Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, and Rick Perry for their role in defunding the organization as governor of their respective states. Clinton vows to continue fighting for Planned Parenthood saying, ”When they attack women’s health, they attack America’s health, and it’s wrong. I’m proud to stand with Planned Parenthood.”
Yesterday, Clinton kicked off a three-day visit to Iowa by attending a campaign event in Winterset, Iowa where she spoke with supporters then answered questions from reporters. A number of questions were about allegations that Clinton sent and received classified information on her private email server as Secretary of State and a possible investigation by the Department of Justice. She denies the claims saying, “I am confident I never sent nor received any information that was classified at the time it was sent and received. What I think you’re seeing is a very typical kind of discussion to some extent, disagreement among various parts of the government over what should or what should not be publicly released.”
On Saturday, Clinton also gave a speech and answered questions at an event at Beaverdale. A video from this event is posted above.
Today, Clinton gave a speech in Ames at an organizing event where she previewed her plans to combat climate change and her commitment to clean energy. Tomorrow, Clinton will provide full details of her plan in a speech in Des Moines. In her preview, Clinton took the opportunity to criticize the Republican presidential candidates who deny climate change is a reality saying, “Those people on the other side, they will answer any question about climate change by saying I’m not a scientist. I’m not a scientist either—I’m just a grandmother with two eyes and a brain…I know that if we start addressing it, we’re going to actually be creating jobs and new businesses.”

In her first official campaign rally held at Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island in New York, Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined what she called the “four fights” of her campaign. Throughout the 45 minute speech, Clinton made references to her experience as a lawyer, Senator, Secretary of State, and as a mother and grandmother. The theme of the speech was the prosperity of Americans, and she shared stories from people she has met and her mother to make her points. In her speech, Clinton also criticized Republicans for not looking forward and believing too much in “yesterday.” She vowed to fight for everyday Americans and prepare the United States for the future.
The key to her speech was the “four fights.” She outlined what those will be, but said that said will outline specific policy changes in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, her vision is clearly outlined by the four fights:
Economy: Clinton outlined a number of changes that would serve to strengthen the economy including strengthening the middle class, increasing the minimum wage, providing equal pay for women, making it illegal to discriminate against LBGT workers, rewriting the tax code, and focusing on lifelong learning that will allow works to adapt to a changing workplace. She also called for more affordable college for everyone and improving the infrastructure by creating an infrastructure bank that would sell bonds to help fund improvements roads, bridges, power grids, and broadband Internet. She called for protecting the environment by investing in clean energy and ending the denial of climate change. All these changes, which she will continue to outline in the coming weeks, will create jobs and improve the lives of American workers.
Family: Families have struggled since the recession and Clinton believes that more attention needs to be paid to helping families by guaranteeing paid sick days, paid family leave, pre-school and child care. She also wants to focus on the uneven incarceration polices and provide help to those suffering with mental health issues and addiction.
America’s Leadership: America has long been the leader in the world, but for America to maintain its leadership and influence, Clinton argues that we have not only show strength in our military, but we have to create economic and diplomatic partnerships across the globe. At the same time, we have to stand up to our adversaries and stand by our allies. We need to be better prepared against cyber attacks and provide better services to our veterans after they have served our country.
Governmental Reform: Clinton argued that now is the time to take government out of corporate hands and back into the hands of Americans. She called for stopping the flow of unaccountable campaign funds, undoing Citizens United, and improving government technology so it is more open to the pubic. She also called for improvements to voting including universal registration, longer early voting periods, and ensuring that voting rights are protected despite the Supreme Court’s recent decision.
Clinton’s speech is only the beginning of the next phase of her campaign. Over the coming weeks, Clinton will travel across the country to spread her message and continue to flesh out her campaign platform. First up is Peter Schweizer’s book, Clinton Cash. The book is advertised as the inside story of foreign donations made to the Clinton Foundation during Clinton’s time as Secretary of State. Many of the allegations have been disproven, but the campaign has vowed to take the claims head-on. Hillary Rodham Clinton ended speculation today by announcing that is running for president in 2016. In a video released online, Clinton outlined her plans for her campaign and appealed to potential voters. She is expected to speak with voters in Iowa and New Hampshire in the coming days.

The Ready for Hillary PAC has revamped its website as it prepares for Clinton to make her decision about running for president in 2016. The PAC was formed in January 2013 as she was leaving the State Department. The goal was to raise money to prepare for a possible 2016 run, and to show Clinton that a support base exists for her 2016 run.
After a year, Ready for Hillary announced that they raised $4 million in its first year. Beginning its second year, the PAC has redesigned its website and is continuing to build a grassroots donor base. We urge everyone who supports a 2016 run by Clinton to Support Ready for Hillary by donating or shopping in their store. You can also pledge to support Clinton’s presidential run and request a FREE “Ready for Hillary” bumper sticker. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton participated in a global town hall interview at the Newseum in Washington, DC. This was Secretary Clinton’s 59th town hall, and her final as Secretary of State. Questions are asked by a moderator and young people around the world. Countries represented include: Britain, Beruit, Colombia, Japan, Greece, Germany, Italy, Nigeria, and India.
