On Saturday, Hillary Clinton spent the day in Connecticut and Rhode Island. In New Haven, Connecticut, Clinton held a rountable event that focused on working families. The primary topics of discussion were ways to raise wages, including the minimum wage, promote early childhood education, and reduce the wage gap between men and women. On the topic of equal pay, she said, “Equal pay — we shouldn’t be talking about it in 2016. It is almost embarrassing.” Clinton has returned to holding smaller conversational campaign events as she rallies supporters for next week’s primaries in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Clinton then rallied supporters at an organizing event in Central Falls, Rhode Island. During her speech, Clinton spoke about a number of platform topics including women’s rights, organized labor, health care, immigration reform, gun control, and climate change. She also took a shot at her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders by saying, “I am not making promises I can’t keep.” She praised Rhode Islanders and asked for their support on Tuesday. On Thursday, Hillary Clinton campaigned in three different states. She began in Tampa, Florida where she spoke to a group of supporters at the Ritz Ybor. During the event, Clinton spoke about her plans as president, and she also criticized Florida Governor Rick Scott for turning down federal funds to develop a high speed rail system between Orlando and Tampa. She said, “It makes absolutely no sense, especially when we know that we’re going to have to do high-speed rail if we’re going to have a competitive economy.” A video from the event is below.
Clinton then traveled to Durham, North Carolina where she spoke to a crowd at Hillside High School. During her speech, she covered a wide variety of platform topics including voting rights, women’s rights, heath care, and jobs. She specifically spoke about investment opportunities in North Carolina saying, “That’s why I’m proposing more jobs with infrastructure, manufacturing, and let’s combat climate change with more clean, renewable energy jobs. And yes, let’s invest in more research right here in the Research Triangle. You know what that could mean!”
The final event of the day was held in Vernon Hills, Illinois. During the event, Clinton spoke about a number of her key platform points including clean energy, equal pay, LGBT rights, and gun control. During the event she took shots at her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders and the Republican presidential field, particularly Donald Trump. Directly referencing Trump’s campaign slogan, she said, “I listen to some of the other candidates, they are so pessimistic, so negative about us. I’ll tell you that’s not how I see us and our country. I don’t think you make America great by tearing down everything that made America great in the first place.” A video from the event will be posted when/if available.
On Saturday, while Hillary Clinton was in New Hampshire, Chelsea and Bill Clinton were on the campaign trail. Chelsea was in South Carolina where she attended events in Rock Hill, Spartanburg, and Clemson. At each of the events, Chelsea spoke about the importance of the 2016 election and the far reaching effects it is going to have, especially for the Supreme Court. She also spoke about women’s rights and her mother’s fight to protect them. At each of the events, Chelsea took questions from the audience on a variety of topics. Bill attended an organizing event in Pahrump, Nevada where he acknowledged the tough campaign for Hillary, but said that he was confident that she has the best vision going forward. He also sympathized with those who are angry with the current political environment. He said, “I understand why we’ve got a race on our hands, because a lot of people are disillusioned with the system and a lot of young people want to take it down. … I understand what it’s like for people who haven’t had a raise in eight years. There are a lot of reasons [to be angry]. But this is not a cartoon. This is real life.” A video from the event will be posted when/if available.

On Saturday, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended two major events in Iowa. The first was a rally at which former President Bill Clinton briefly stumped for his wife before turning the stage over to singer Katy Perry. The former president spoke about his wife’s honesty and trustworthy qualities. Following his remarks, Perry took the stage and sang a number of songs, including “Roar,” a tune that has been played at a number of rallies for Clinton. Before the end of the rally, Hillary Clinton took to the stage and thanked everybody for coming out and thanked Perry and her husband firing up the crowd. Last night, Clinton attended a different kind of rally at the Iowa Democratic Party’s Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. Clinton shared the stage with her 2016 Democratic opponents Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley, but she took the opportunity to rally Iowa Democrats to support her. She spoke about a number of key points of her platform including race relations, gun control, and women’s rights. The speech was familiar, but the crowd was energized and Clinton was poised following a string of successes in October. Clinton said, “I’m listening to you, I’m fighting for you, and with your support, Iowa, I’m going to deliver. And together, we’re going to build an America where there are no ceilings for anyone, where no one gets left behind or left out, and yes, where a father can tell his daughter, you can be anything you want to be, including President of the United States of America!” A video of Clinton’s speech is below.

Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to Portsmouth, New Hampshire on the 20th Anniversary of her Beijing speech on women’s rights. The primary topic of her speech in Portsmouth was women’s rights, and she directly criticized Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for his disregard for women’s rights. She said, “He [Trump] said he would do a much better job for women than I would. That’s a general election debate that’s going to be a lot of fun. He says he loves women. In fact, to quote him, he ‘cherishes’ us. Well, if it’s all the same to you, Mr. Trump, I’d rather you stop cherishing women and start respecting women.”
On September 5, 1995, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered a groundbreaking speech on women’s rights during the 4th Women’s Conference in Beijing. The speech is often quoted and is likely Clinton’s most famous speech. Today is the 20th Anniversary of the speech and to celebrate a video of the full speech is above.

Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton was interviewed by Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC. Mitchell questioned Clinton extensively on her use of a private email server as Secretary of State. Mitchell and Clinton then discussed her candidacy for president and her Republican rivals. The the full interview is above.

On September 5, 1995, Hillary Rodham Clinton gave one of her most powerful speeches as First Lady. She was a featured speaker at the UN’s Fourth Women’s Conference in Beijing, China. During the speech, Clinton famously said “let it be that human rights are human rights are women’s rights and women’s rights are human rights.” Clinton has continued to fight for women’s rights as Senator, Secretary of State, and now a candidate for President of the United States.

In her first official campaign rally held at Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island in New York, Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined what she called the “four fights” of her campaign. Throughout the 45 minute speech, Clinton made references to her experience as a lawyer, Senator, Secretary of State, and as a mother and grandmother. The theme of the speech was the prosperity of Americans, and she shared stories from people she has met and her mother to make her points. In her speech, Clinton also criticized Republicans for not looking forward and believing too much in “yesterday.” She vowed to fight for everyday Americans and prepare the United States for the future.
The key to her speech was the “four fights.” She outlined what those will be, but said that said will outline specific policy changes in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, her vision is clearly outlined by the four fights:
Economy: Clinton outlined a number of changes that would serve to strengthen the economy including strengthening the middle class, increasing the minimum wage, providing equal pay for women, making it illegal to discriminate against LBGT workers, rewriting the tax code, and focusing on lifelong learning that will allow works to adapt to a changing workplace. She also called for more affordable college for everyone and improving the infrastructure by creating an infrastructure bank that would sell bonds to help fund improvements roads, bridges, power grids, and broadband Internet. She called for protecting the environment by investing in clean energy and ending the denial of climate change. All these changes, which she will continue to outline in the coming weeks, will create jobs and improve the lives of American workers.
Family: Families have struggled since the recession and Clinton believes that more attention needs to be paid to helping families by guaranteeing paid sick days, paid family leave, pre-school and child care. She also wants to focus on the uneven incarceration polices and provide help to those suffering with mental health issues and addiction.
America’s Leadership: America has long been the leader in the world, but for America to maintain its leadership and influence, Clinton argues that we have not only show strength in our military, but we have to create economic and diplomatic partnerships across the globe. At the same time, we have to stand up to our adversaries and stand by our allies. We need to be better prepared against cyber attacks and provide better services to our veterans after they have served our country.
Governmental Reform: Clinton argued that now is the time to take government out of corporate hands and back into the hands of Americans. She called for stopping the flow of unaccountable campaign funds, undoing Citizens United, and improving government technology so it is more open to the pubic. She also called for improvements to voting including universal registration, longer early voting periods, and ensuring that voting rights are protected despite the Supreme Court’s recent decision.
Clinton’s speech is only the beginning of the next phase of her campaign. Over the coming weeks, Clinton will travel across the country to spread her message and continue to flesh out her campaign platform. Tomorrow is the kick-off rally for Hillary for America on Roosevelt Island in New York. Hillary Rodham Clinton will give a major speech that is expected to begin to outline her platform for her 2016 presidential campaign. Since announcing her campaign in April, Clinton has been holding roundtable events gathering information. In the background, her political team has been meeting with advisers and gathering information on a wide range of topics including economic policy, LBGT rights, income inequality, women’s rights, and immigration. Following the rally tomorrow, Clinton begins a cross-country campaign where she will continue to flesh out her platform.
Attendees will be allowed in the park at 9:30 AM and Clinton is expected to give her speech in the late morning, but a time has yet to be announced.
