Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Ohio

Hillary Clinton returned to Ohio on Monday where she began the day at an event on the campus of Kent State University. During her speech, Clinton briefly addressed the FBI’s investigation into her email, and she urged the bureau to release the findings to the American voters. She said that she is confident that nothing will be found. Clinton then spoke about a number of her platform points including her plans to create jobs, build an economy that works for everyone, and make college more affordable. Clinton also attacked Donald Trump for his temperament and divisive rhetoric saying, “Imagine him in the Oval Office facing a real crisis. Imagine him plunging us into a war because someone got under his very thin skin.” She then asked everyone to get out and vote on November 8th or to take advantage of early voting. Clinton then spoke at a rally in Cincinnati where she was introduced by Mark Kelly and former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Clinton, again, opened her speech by addressing the FBI’s investigation into her emails saying, “Go ahead: Look at them.” She then spoke about the importance of the election and far reaching effects the next four years will have on this country. She presented her plans to continue the economic growth started by the administration of President Barack Obama and said that she wanted to make even more progress. She also attacked Trump for his relationship with Russia and his famously short temper. Clinton concluded by asking voters to support her because she wants to win Ohio. Tim Kaine Encourages Early Voting in Ohio

Tim Kaine returned to the campaign trail in Ohio today after attending last night’s World Series baseball game played between the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. He began the day at a rally held at Lorain High School outside of Cleveland. Campaigning with Senator Al Franken, Kaine spoke about the importance of ensuring Democrats win the Senate, and he encouraged voters to not only support Hillary Clinton but Senate candidate Ted Strickland too. Kaine also spoke about Hillary’s platform points and her plan to bring jobs to Ohio, the dangers of electing Donald Trump, and the importance of voting and the importance of Ohio to the campaign saying, “If we win Ohio the race is over. Hillary Clinton will be president.”

Kaine then went to a rally outside Columbus in Gambier. He spoke about a number of Hillary’s policy proposals including her plan to make college more affordable, create jobs, and raise the minimum wage. Kaine attacked Trump for his refusal to not only accept the results of the election unless he wins, but also for refusing to take responsibility for his own actions. “He’s losing and he will not be able to accept responsibility … He’s going to try to blame it on something else — the media is against me, they rigged the election … If we can win big, he can whine all he wants,” he said. Tim Kaine Rallies Supporters in Pennsylvania

Tim Kaine held two campaign events today in Pennsylvania where he encouraged voters to support Hillary Clinton for president and Katie McGinty for U.S. Senate. Speaking at events in Newtown and Allentown, Kaine focused on the issues and the dangers of electing Donald Trump. He said that the vision of America expressed by himself and Clinton are certainly more optimistic than Trump’s and he stressed the importance of the electing adding, “We can’t afford to get this wrong.” At both events, Kaine spoke about the importance of Pennsylvania in the electing saying, “Pennsylvania is key. If we win Pennsylvania, Hillary will be president.”  A video from the event will be added when/if available.

Kaine Touts Early Voting in Florida

On Monday, Tim Kaine wrapped up a bus tour in Florida focusing on early voting. His first event was in Miami where he spoke to a crowd of supporters on the campus of Florida International University. During his speech, Kaine spoke about the a number of Hillary Clinton’s platform points including creating new jobs, raising the minimum wage, and making college more affordable. He then spoke about the Florida Senate race criticizing Senator Marco Rubio for attacking Donald Trump, but backing him for president. “He called Donald Trump ‘dangerous,’ and he called Donald Trump a ‘con artist,’ but he’s supporting Donald Trump. I mean, ‘Con Artists for Trump.’ I don’t get it,” he said. Kaine spoke about the importance of voting in this election and urged everyone to take advantage of Florida’s early voting. Kaine’s second and final event was in West Palm Beach where he focused on the issues that are importance to him and Clinton such as health care, education, and the economy. Kaine, again, focused on the importance of voting in the election and the role that Florida plays in the election. He said that Florida is key to their victory adding, “You really are a checkmate state. That’s more than a battleground state. … If we win for Hillary here, it’s over. She’s going to be president.” He urged everyone to get out and vote saying, “We can’t take anything for granted because this is the season of surprise.” A video of Kaine’s speech is below.

Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Cleveland

On Friday, Hillary Clinton returned to the campaign trail with an event in Cleveland, Ohio. Clinton did reference Wednesday night’s debate saying that her three debates with Donald Trump more than prove that she has the stamina to be president. Speaking at Cuyahoga Community College, Clinton focused on her plans to help the middle class and ensure that everyone in America has an equal opportunity. She also addressed Trump’s refusal to say that he would accept the outcome of the election saying, “Make no mistake, by doing that, he is threatening our democracy. We know in our country the difference between leadership and dictatorship. The peaceful transition of power is one of the things that sets us apart.” She concluded by talking about what winning Ohio would mean to hear and urged everyone to take advantage of early voting or to vote on November 8th saying, “I want to earn your vote.” A video of Clinton’s speech is below.

Tim Kaine Campaigns in North Carolina

On Thursday, Tim Kaine continued his campaign tour of North Carolina with events in Charlotte and Durham. During the event in Charlotte, Kaine spoke about Hillary Clinton’s platform and plans to ensure that the economy works for everyone and not just those at the top. He also referred to last night’s presidential debate praising Clinton for her performance. Kaine criticized Donald Trump for refusing to accept the outcome of the election saying, “has a profound misunderstanding for the institutions of government. … He is trying to upset a tradition that’s been one of the notable features of American life.” Kaine added, “This is not a television show, this is not a reality show. This is about running a country. You gotta do better than that.” Following the event, he spoke with members of the press. In Durham, Kaine spoke with supporters on the campus of North Carolina Central University. At the event, Kaine urged everyone to get out and vote on November 8th, and he spoke about the importance of the election. He said that he and Clinton are dedicated to to North Carolina, and they want to win the state. Kaine said, “If we can win North Carolina for Hillary Clinton we’re gonna win the whole thing. We’re gonna win the whole thing. I’m very good at elections. I’m 8-0. You can beat me in Scrabble, but not in elections. Tim Kaine on Trump’s Most Recent Comment About Accepting Election Outcome

During a press availability in Charlotte, North Carolina, vice presidential nominee Senator Tim Kaine made the following statement criticizing Trump for undermining a central pillar of American democracy:

“While I was speaking, Donald Trump gave a speech in Delaware, Ohio, and I might just read you the script: ‘I would like to promise a pledge to all of my voters and supporters, all of the people of the United States, that I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election if I win.’ If I win. That is a direct quote from Donald Trump. Well obviously, Donald, that is not accepting the results. You’ve got to accept the results of this election, win or lose. That’s the pledge we made. Hillary stood on the stage in the first debate and said, ‘Of course I’m going to accept the results of the election.’ And that Donald Trump was unwilling to make that pledge, and still thinks he’s saying something positive by saying, ‘I’ll accept the results if I win’ shows he has a profound misunderstanding of the institutions of government and that he is trying to do something and upset a tradition that has been one of the most notable features of American democracy.”

Clinton, Trump Clash on Policy at Final Debate

On Wednesday night, presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump faced off for their final debate before the election on November 8th. The debate was moderated by Fox News’ Chris Wallace, who did a pretty good job of keeping the candidates on topic. The topics covered at the debate included debt, entitlements, immigration, the economy, the Supreme Court, foreign hot spots, and “fitness to be president.” While each candidate took shots at each other, Clinton outlined a number of her proposals. Each candidate wrapped up the final debate with a one-minute closing statement. Clinton asked for America’s vote saying:

“Well, I would like to say to everyone watching tonight that I’m reaching out to all Americans — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. Because we need everybody to help make our country what it should be. To grow the economy, to make it fairer, to make it work for everyone. We need your talents, your skills, your commitment, your energy, your ambition. You know, I’ve been privileged to see the presidency up close and I know the awesome responsibility of protecting our country and the incredible opportunity of working to try to make life better for all of you. I have made the cause of children and families really my life’s work — that’s what my mission will be in the presidency. I will stand up for families against powerful interests, against corporations. I will do everything I can to make sure you have good jobs with rising incomes, that your kids have good educations from preschool through college. I hope you will give me a chance to serve as your president.”

While pundits will argue who won and who lost last night’s debate, what is important is who you feel will best represent you. This political cycle has become more about personality and less about the issues at stake. Both candidates have outlined a series of policies they believe are important to them and that says a lot about their beliefs. What is key is that on November 8, you have a choice. You have a voice at the ballot box and make sure it is heard. Vote.

HFA Highlights Unprecedented Coordinated Campaign Investments

This morning, Hillary for America Campaign Manager Robby Mook highlighted Hillary for America’s unprecedented coordinated campaign efforts, to date totaling an over $100 million investment, and pointed out additional resources coming in the final weeks to help win Senate, House and governors races in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Missouri and Indiana and states across the country.

On the call, Mook said, “Since the primary concluded, our campaign has been coordinating closely with U.S. Senate, House, Gubernatorial, and state races in the battleground states to build a coordinated campaign that leverages resources to help all candidates.  We set up offices in all 50 states and have devoted intensive resources to 12 states and Maine and Nebraska’s second congressional districts.”

Mook announced new enhanced coordination efforts from Hillary for America:

• An additional six million dollars in mail and digital advertising to get out the vote in the battleground states of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, Iowa, New Hampshire. States with competitive Governor, Senate and House races.
• An additional quarter million dollars in Nebraska and Maine’s second congressional districts.
• An expanded television buy and direct mail and digital advertising program by over two million dollars in Arizona, where Donald Trump’s hateful rhetoric has opened new doors for the Democratic Party.  Mook also announced that on Thursday, First Lady Michelle Obama will host an Early Vote rally in Phoenix. Days after Senator Bernie Sanders and Chelsea Clinton are in the state.
• And a commitment to help Senate and Governor races in Indiana and Missouri with a million-dollar investment to turn Democrats out to vote.

Additionally, Mook pointed out the unprecedented commitment from the top of the ticket in support of down ballot races: the 455 offices in battleground states that are open and available to all Democratic candidates to reduce infrastructure cots; the fact that we have down ballot candidates’ names on phone and door scripts to cross-promote; and that we’ve included candidates in speaking programs for principal trips.

“Bottom line: Donald Trump’s erratic behavior and spiraling campaign have left the Republican party in a civil war…. With signs of high turnout across the country, Democrats have a historic opportunity to elect leaders who will partner with Hillary to create jobs and get incomes rising,” Mook said.

The campaign will continue to evaluate ground investment through Election Day.

Tim Kaine Encourages Voter Registration in Miami

On Saturday, Tim Kaine campaigned in Miami, Florida and encouraged residents to take advantage of the extended deadline to register to vote. The state gave potential voters an extra week to register in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. After being introduced by musician Pusha T, Kaine encouraged everyone to register to vote and ensure that friends and family members were registered as well. Kaine said that Florida is important for himself and Hillary Clinton and that Floridians could decide the election. “If [Donald Trump] loses Florida, it’s checkmate. Let’s do some checkmate and win,” he said. A video from the event is below.

Meanwhile, fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America in two states. The first event was in Jersey City, New Jersey and featured a conversation with Mayor Steven Fulop and Chelsea Clinton. The second event, in Chicago, Illinois, was a cocktail party with a special performance by Amy & Freddy.
