Tim Kaine rallied supporters in Tallahassee, Florida today as he stressed the importance of voting during a campaign stop on the campus of Florida State University. Campaigning with Mark Kelly and former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Kaine spoke about Hillary Clinton’s plans to enact commonsense gun control, including mandatory background checks and closing a number of loopholes that allows people who should not own a firearm to obtain one. He said, “Second Amendment supports support background checks. Gun owners support background checks. NRA members support background checks. We just need a Congress that’s willing to listen.” Kaine said that Florida is an important state in the election and urged everyone to get out and vote on election day or vote early. Today, Tim Kaine and his wife, Anne Holton, campaigned in Florida. They began the day by attending Sunday morning church services at Pneuma Church in Miami and The Faith Center in Sunrise. At Pneuma, a Hispanic church, Kaine spoke in fluent Spanish and encouraged everyone to register to vote before Tuesday’s deadline. Kaine did the same at The Faith Center, but in English. Kaine spoke about Hillary Clinton’s plans to give everyone an equal chance saying, “There’s a lot of people lying on the side of the road in the society we live in and all over this country… Some need education, some need an opportunity, some just need a word of friendship because they’re lonely and they’re on the side of the road. And the question that’s before us is do we pass by or do we go over, even if we don’t know all the answers, even if we don’t know all the words to say, do we at least roll up our sleeves and walk over and try to do what we can to help out? … This is not a congregation of people who walk on by, and Hillary Clinton is not a person who walks on by, and that’s why I’m so proud to be with her.”
Holton held two events in Florida, a Women for Hillary event in Tallahassee and a Canvass Kick-Off event in Panama City. At each, Holton stressed the importance of electing the Clinton/Kaine ticket to the White House. Holton also spoke about the importance of voting urging everyone to register before Tuesday’s extended deadline and asked everyone to vote on November 8th. She thanked the volunteers in Panama City and urged them to keep making calls, knocking on doors, and helping people register to vote. Videos from today’s event will be posted when/if available.
Tim Kaine began a two day campaign stint in Florida today with stops in Domi Station and Tallahassee. In Domi Station, Kaine spoke with small business owners and toured a local business before heading to a public rally at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. While Kaine’s speech primary focused on Hillary Clinton’s plans to continue economic growth and create millions of jobs, he also had some harsh words for Donald Trump. “Ku Klux Klan values, David Duke values, Donald Trump values are not American values,” Kaine said. The criticisms leveled by Kaine were the harshest we have heard from him since he was announced as Clinton’s running mate. On Friday, Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea Clinton were on the campaign trail and fundraising for Hillary for America. Chelsea was the only Clinton holding public events today. She began in Kentucky where she held an organizing event at the opening of the new Hillary for America office in Lexington. Chelsea addressed supporters who turned out to greet her saying that her mother is the best candidate for president because of her experience and her willingness to work with those who have good ideas, not just people who are a part of the Democratic Party. While in the area, Chelsea also attended a fundraiser in Frankfort that was hosted by Jennifer A. Moore and The Honorable Crit Luallen and Lynn Luallen.
Chelsea then traveled to Indiana where she spoke with supporters at the Hillary for Indiana office in Indianapolis. She spoke about Hillary’s plans to continue the improvement of the health care system and the expansion of early childhood education. As a mother, and a mother to be, Chelsea said that she believes that Hillary is the best candidate for her children’s future. She spoke about her mother’s experience saying, “… it really matters to me that my mom is the only person running for president who has a strong record in being able to deliver progress in areas like healthcare reform and education reform and women’s rights and human rights that she doesn’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, that she’s willing to work with whomever she needs to work with to be able to get the job done.” While in Indianapolis, Chelsea attended a fundraiser hosted by Senator Evan Bayh, Susan Bayh, and Melina Kennedy.
Bill was in Florida where he attended a series of fundraisers. The first was in Tallahassee and was hosted at the home of Allison Tant and Barry Richard. The second event was in Sarasota and hosted by Nancy Parrish. The final event of his was was in Heathrow and hosted by John Morgan.
Hillary fundraised in New York where she began at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. Then, she attended a fundraiser in Queens that included a conversation with Congressman Joe Crowley and Congresswoman Grace Meng. As with all fundraisers, they were closed to the press.

On Monday, Bill Clinton was on the campaign trail spending time in two states that hold their primaries tomorrow. He began with a morning Get Out the Vote rally in Greenville, North Carolina. During his speech, he spoke about Hillary’s experience and her career as a change maker. He said that her plans would ensure that everyone had access to the tools necessary to live up to their potential. He then asked North Carolinians to support her in tomorrow’s primary.
Clinton then traveled to Florida where he hosted a rally at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. In his speech, he argued that it is important to keep a Democrat in the White House. He said, “We have 14 million new jobs over the last five years. That’s the most we’ve had since that other Democrat, whatever his name was. And we have 90 percent of our people with health insurance for the first time.” He also criticized the Republican presidential candidates for not sticking to the issues and focusing more on fighting each other. Later today, Clinton is scheduled to attend Get Out the Vote events in Jacksonville and Winter Park, Florida. Full coverage will be posted tomorrow.
On Friday, Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan attended a number of events across the country in support of Hillary Clinton. Bill began in Kansas City, Missouri, making up for an appearance he had to previously cancel due to weather. Speaking at the Kansas City Carpenters Union Training Facility, Bill spoke about Hillary’s experience and her plans to build upon progress that has already been made. He criticized Hillary’s Democratic rival Bernie Sanders for wanting to scrap health care and start over saying, “It’s a lot easier to go from 90 to 100 than it is to go from zero to 100.” A video from his speech is below.
Bill then traveled to Springfield, Missouri for a rally at the Teamsters Hall. During his speech, he said that it was great to be back in the Ozarks, where he and Hillary were married in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Bill said that Hillary is the best qualified candidate running for either party, and she will make sure everyone has a change in America. Bill rounded out the day at a Get Out the Vote event in Peoria, Illinois. During his speech, Clinton spoke about Hillary’s plans to boost manufacturing and build on heath care. At one point, Bill was interrupted by a protester. The protester left after shouting above the crowd to which Bill said, “I listened to you, why won’t you stay and listen to me?” He then continued to talk about Hillary’s plans to reduce higher education costs and help those currently paying off student debt.
Chelsea spent the day attending events across the state of Florida as they gear up to vote in the Democratic primary on March 15. She began the day in Tallahassee where she spoke at two separate events. During each of the events, Chelsea spoke about her mom’s record and experience and called the 2016 election “the most important presidential election in my lifetime.” She criticized Republicans for their proposed policies saying, “The racism, the sexism, the Islamophobia, the homophobia, the anti-immigrant rhetoric, the anti-workers rhetoric … it is an almost endless list. And then the policy ideas that flow from that – to build a wall, to expel 11 or 12 million people who are here working hard for lives of dignity and opportunity and promise for themselves and their families, to keep a list of every American Muslim. We need a president to stand up and protect our values.”
Chelsea then attended events in Sarasota and St. Petersburg. At each of the events she, again, spoke about the importance of the 2016 election and how it will have ripple effects on the economy and Supreme Court. She also spoke about Hillary’s plans to build upon the progress of the last eight years and improve heath care, address gun violence, and make a college education more affordable. She said, “Clearly we don’t live in a single issue country and we need a president that understands that as President Obama certainly does.” A video from the St. Petersburg event is available on C-SPAN.
In California, Kwan attended three fundraisers. The first was in San Jose, then Kwan headed to Oakland for an event hosted by Assemblymember Rob Bonta, Sonia Delen, Andy Duong, Dr. Rollington Ferguson, and Zach Wasserman. The final event of the day was a fundraiser in San Francisco. Kwan met with a number of female lawyers at the event hosted by Sara Brody, Lindsay Carlson, Lauri Damrell, Lisa Gilford, Gay Gunfeld, Valerie McGinty, Drucilla Ramey, Ann Patterson.
