Kaine and Holton Visit with Supporters in New Hampshire

Tim Kaine and Anne Holton campaigned in four New Hampshire cities today. Kaine and his wife stopped at two Hillary for America offices and a local Democratic party office today where they spoke with volunteers and Holton helped out with a phone bank. Kaine and Holton visited offices in Dover, Laconia, Manchester, and Nashua. At three of the four events, Kaine and Holton spoke with Hillary Clinton supporters as well as campaign volunteers. Kaine thanked the volunteers and urged them to keep fighting. He also spoke with voters urging them to come out and support himself and Clinton in November.

At the event in Manchester, Kaine and Holton took part in a roundtable discussion at Manchester Community College. The discussion focused on education and featured a professor from the college and former Governor John Lynch. Holton is the former Secretary of Education for the state of Virginia, and she and Kaine spoke about the importance of higher education and ensuring that students are not burdened by loan debt after college. HFA Launches “Nuestros Negocios, Nuestra América”

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton announced her plan to support small businesses. She also announced “Nuestros Negocios, Nuestra América,” a program aimed at empowering Latino small business owners to assist with voter registration. In a statement, Hillary for America said that this national voter registration effort will ensure everyone has a voice of the 2016 election. A copy of the statement is below.

As Hillary Clinton releases a plan to make life easier for small businesses at every step of the way, Hillary for America is launching a national voter registration effort, “Nuestros Negocios, Nuestra América” (Our businesses, Our America), led by Latino small business owners across the country. “Hillary recognizes that Latino small business owners are the bedrock of our neighborhoods and that’s why she tasked us to build a program that would empower them to mobilize Latinos to the polls. And Latino small business owners know that Hillary Clinton will have their backs as president,” stated Lorella Praeli, National Director of Latino Vote.

As part of “Nuestros Negocios, Nuestra América,” the campaign is calling on Latino small business owners to help register voters in their communities and educate, engage, and activate Latino voters. Small business owners will volunteer their spaces to host canvass kick-offs, debate watch-parties, round-table discussions or stage Get Out the Vote efforts. Throughout the week “Nuestros Negocios, Nuestra América” will hold events across the country.

Clinton Meets with Law Enforcement Officials

Hillary Clinton met with several top law enforcement officials form across the country on Thursday. During a meeting in New York City, Clinton briefly addressed the media and the group and spoke about the importance of working with law enforcement groups to ensure they are getting the required training and resources for them to keep the public safe. She said, “I think we can come together with a sense of shared purpose, and a belief in our common destiny to have a purpose where we go forth united and do everything possible to respond to any legitimate questions, to find answers together and to keep our communities safe, to protect lives and property, while also respecting every single American.”

The of officials that attended the meeting represent a wide variety of populations and included decades of experience. Those attending the discussion included: New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck, Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus, New York City Chief of Department James O’Neil, Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole, former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey, Camden Police Chief Scott Thomson, and Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez. Hillary Clinton Discusses National Security in Virginia

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton held a round table discussion in Hampton, Virginia that covered a variety of topics including national security and and the military. Those included in the conversation represented a number of points of view including retired military officers and advocates for veterans and military families. During her remarks on national security, Clinton criticized Republican Donald Trump’s response to the shooting in Orlando saying, “After all the Twitter rants and conspiracy theories we’ve been hearing recently, it’s time for substantive discussions about how we protect our country, how we respond to terrorist attacks like the one that tragically occurred in Orlando.” Clinton stressed that it is important for everyone to work together to stop lone wolves and to ensure our military receives the best care during and after serving. Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Oakland, Vallejo, and Sacramento

On Sunday, Hillary Clinton was in northern California where she began the morning by attending Sunday services at the Greater St. Paul Church in Oakland. She spoke with the congregation briefly saying that, if elected president, she will ask herself everyday, “What can I do that day to make it possible for every child to live up to their God-given potential?” Clinton spoke about a number of key issues she would like to address including raising the minimum wage, creating jobs, reducing gun violence, and reforming the criminal justice system. She said that America is at its best when everyone works together to achieve a common goal, and divisive politics is not helping anyone. Clinton then attended a round table discussion with city leaders in Vallejo. Meeting at a local restaurant, Clinton first spoke about a number of topics she believes to be central to the 2016 election. She spoke about her plans for immigration reform, criminal justice reform, education, and health care. She then listened to the concerns of local city leaders and business owners. Each day, Clinton has held at least one round table discussion because she believes they are important. “I do think it’s important to hear from people directly,” she said. Hillary Clinton Holds Four Events in California

On Saturday, Hillary Clinton attended four campaign events in California. The first event of the day was a community discussion in Slymar. The primary topic of the event was immigration reform. Clinton said that immigration is going to be a key issue in the 2016 election because statements about immigrants made by Republican nominee Donald Trump are often “hateful, very prejudicial, really unacceptable ways.” She spoke about the importance of keeping families together and passing comprehensive immigration reform. Most of the event was Clinton listening to stories told by the several Asian and Latino immigrants. She vowed to fight for a fair immigration plan if elected president.

Clinton then traveled to Oxnard where she spoke to supporters at a Get Out the Vote event. She covered a number of her platform points, but she went after Trump several times throughout the speech saying that he “fails” a number of important presidential trait tests. Later, Clinton traveled to Santa Barbara where she held a community event focused on women and families. The round table discussion consisted of local officials and representatives. Clinton spoke about a number of her platform points aimed at improving the lives of women and helping families. She spoke about increasing the minimum wage, ensuring that women receive equal pay for equal work, ensuring families have access to affordable childcare, and guaranteeing workers paid family leave. The final event of the day was a Get Out the Vote rally in Fresno where she spoke to packed crowd of supporters at Edison High School. She also spoke about an issue that is local to Fresno: water. Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Los Angeles Area

On Friday, Hillary Clinton held four campaign events in the Los Angeles, California area. Her first event was in Culver City and featured appearances by Elizabeth Banks, Sophia Bush, Michelle Kwan, Debra Messing, Mary Steenburgen, and Sally Field. Each actress took a few minutes to speak about why they supported Clinton. When Clinton took the stage, she stressed the importance of the 2016 election and defeating Republican nominee Donald Trump. Clinton concluded by asking for voters’ support in Tuesday’s primary saying, “Starting next Tuesday, we’re on our way to breaking the highest and hardest glass ceiling.” A video from the event is below.

She then traveled to Westminster where she spoke with supporters at a Get Out the Vote rally. During her speech, she spoke about a number of platform points including expanding health care, passing immigration reform, and lowering the cost of higher education. She continued to go after Trump saying that he has “set a very bad example” for not condemning violence at a number of his rallies. Clinton said that she does not want her supporters to provoke violence, but to be respectful of others. Clinton met with community leaders in Santa Ana. She gave a brief speech to the supporters present before sitting down with a group of city leaders and business owners to discuss local and national issues. After delivering her major foreign policy speech in San Diego, Clinton continued her campaign in California by speaking at a Get Out the Vote rally in El Centro. During her speech, Clinton praised the area’s agricultural economy and spoke about her plans for comprehensive immigration reform in addition to a number of her platform points including continuing to expand health care and her vow to work with Republicans who are willing to work with her. Clinton wrapped up the day by visiting with community leaders in Perris. During the round table conversation, Clinton spoke about the importance of education and her dedication to lowering the cost of higher education and expanding early childhood education. She stressed making education affordable for everyone saying, “I don’t offer free college to everybody. I figure, if you can afford it — if you are billionaire or a millionaire — you should pay for it. But that’s not true to most middle-class working or striving families. Hillary Clinton Focuses on Gun Violence Prevention in New York

On Monday, Hillary Clinton attended a number of campaign events across New York. In Port Washington, Clinton and Congressman Steve Israel hosted a round table discussion on the prevention of gun violence. During the event, Clinton explained the importance of introducing federal regulations of gun sales and mandatory background checks. The state of New York, for example, has strict gun laws, but people wanting to purchase a gun can get around them by going to neighboring states such as Vermont. Clinton said, “Here’s what I want you to know: most of the guns that are used in crimes and violence and killings in New York come from out of state. And the state that has the highest per capita number of those guns that end up committing crimes in New York come from Vermont.” She continued, “So this is not, ‘Oh, you know, I live in a rural state, we don’t have these problems.’ This is, you know what? It’s easy to cross borders. Criminals, domestic abusers, traffickers, people who are dangerously mentally ill — they cross borders, too. And sometimes they do it to get the guns they use. This has to become a voting issue for those of us who want to save lives.”

Clinton also spent some time in Queens where she spoke with patrons at the Jackson Diner. Following her visit, she took a few questions from reporters and criticized rival, Senator Bernie Sanders, for his inability to answer certain questions about his plans and his record. She said, “I have noticed that under the bright spotlight and scrutiny here in New York, Sen. Sanders has had trouble answering questions. He’s had trouble answering questions about his core issue, namely dealing with the banks. He’s had trouble answering foreign-policy questions. So I look forward to a debate that is in New York with people asking the kinds of questions that New Yorkers ask.”

Hillary also attended two fundraisers in the state. The first was in Mount Kisco and was held at the home of Marco Masotti and Tracy Stein. The second event of the day was in Glen Cove and was hosted by Mindy and Jay Jacobs, Laurie and Marty Scheinman. Also attending the event was Congressman Israel.

Hillary Clinton Presents Manufacturing Plan in Syracuse

On Friday, Hillary Clinton held two public events in Syracuse, New York. The first was a round table discussion during which she unveiled her plans to boost manufacturing. The plan calls for an investment of $10 billion and is called “Make it in America.” The basic components of the plan include:

• The establishment of “Make it in America Partnerships” that make America the first choice for manufacturing production by harnessing regional strengths.
• Prevent foreign countries like China from abusing global trade rules, and reject trade agreements that do not meet high standards.
• Revitalize the hardest-hit manufacturing communities.
• Crack down on companies shipping jobs and earnings overseas – and create incentives for companies to bring back jobs to the U.S.
• Invest in America’s manufacturing workforce to ensure that they will always be the best in the world.

Clinton then held a public rally in Syracuse’s Regional Market where she covered a number of topics including her pledge to fight for equal pay for women, making higher education more affordable, and growing the economy of New York and and the country. She also touched on the topic she covered earlier in the day at the small business round table saying, “Upstate New York has a storied history of manufacturing. We now have a chance to recapture that.” While in Syracuse, Clinton also made stop at Varsity Pizza where she posed for pictures and signed basketballs.
