Hillary Campaigns in MA, VA on Eve of Super Tuesday

On Monday, Hillary Clinton was on the campaign trail for the final day before tomorrow’s Super Tuesday primaries. Clinton began her day in Massachusetts attending Get Out the Vote events in Springfield and Boston. Speaking to a crowd of over 700 in Springfield, Clinton focused on jobs and eliminating the benefits companies are receiving for outsourcing jobs to countries overseas. She spoke about a number of other platform points before asking voters to support her in tomorrow’s primary saying, “Massachusetts is right in the middle of it and I need your help. I need your help to go and vote tomorrow and bring people to go with you.” A video of Clinton’s speech is below.

In Boston, Clinton spoke to supporters at the Old South Meeting House. She used her speech to turn her attention to Republicans and how her plans contrast from theirs. Clinton spoke about several platform points including heath care, the economy, and making higher education more affordable, but she also spoke about bipartisanship. She said that while Republicans have failed to compromise, the founders of this country relied on it adding that, “Democracy requires that we play well with others.” A video from her speech will be posted when/if available.

Clinton then attended a Get Out the Vote event in Fairfax, Virginia. During her speech, she turned attention way from the primaries and focused on her strategy against the Republican Party. She criticized Republicans for threatening to take America backwards by re-introducing trickle-down economics, privatizing Social Security, and repealing the Affordable Care Act. Clinton said that the next president needs to build upon what is in place. In addition, she criticized Republicans for rolling back voter rights and standing in the way of women’s rights and LBGT rights saying, “It doesn’t seem like the Republicans respect anybody’s rights except the wealthy and well-connected.” A video from the speech is below.

In Norfolk, Clinton spoke at Lake Taylor Senior High School where she continued to go after Republicans and focused on her platform and plans for the future. She spoke about the importance of foreign policy and working with our Muslim allies to fight ISIS. Clinton said that Trump’s comments play into the hands of ISIS. She said, “It’s not only offensive, it’s dangerous. It matters what you say when you run for president. And it really matters if you are president.” A video from the Norfolk event is below.

Clinton Kicks Off New Year in New Hampshire

Today, Hillary Clinton returned to the campaign trail hosting three town hall events across New Hampshire. At the first, held in Derry at Gilbert R. Hood Middle School, Clinton gave a speech before opening the floor to questions from those in attendance. She took a number of questions from children and answered questions about a variety of topics. She also responded to a heckler in the crowd by vowing not to call on her to ask a question. A portion of the Derry town hall can be viewed on MSNBC. A full video will be posted when/if available.

The second event was held in Concord at the local high school mirrored the first event in that she opened with a stump speech, then answered questions. Clinton was asked questions about gun control, climate change, social security, and the books she has read recently. The final town hall of the day was held at Keene High School where she was asked about care for the mentally ill, the heroin epidemic in the state, and how she would handle the big banks. Clinton Proposes Caregiver Tax Credit

Hillary Clinton just wrapped up a town hall event in Clinton, Iowa where she announced a plan to assist families providing care for their loved ones. She too the time to answer several questions from attendees at the local middle school on a variety of topics including health care, the VA, and renewable energy. But the focus of Clinton’s introductory speech was announcing her plan to provide relief for the millions of Americans who are the primary caregivers for parents and grandparents. The plan adds new tax credits and expands existing programs in an effort to lesson the burden on those trying to ensure their loved ones stay safe and healthy. Clinton’s campaign outlined the plan on The Briefing, and the primary points of the proposal include:

• Providing a tax credit, up to $5,000, to family members caring for ailing parents and grandparents
• Launching a Care Workers initiative to assist care workers in learning the skills they need
• Expanding Social Security by counting the work of caregivers toward their personal Social Security benefits
• Building on the Caregiver Respite program

Clinton Wraps up New Hampshire Visit

Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton wrapped up her trip to New Hampshire with two town hall events. She began her day by visiting with patrons at the White Mountain Cafe in Gorham. She then went to Berlin for her first town hall at White Mountain Community College where the focus of her speech was on college affordability. She also spoke about strengthening, not privatizing, Social Security and her plans for health care. She was asked about last night’s Republican debate and said, “I heard a lot of insults and a lot of back and forth between the various candidates. You would have been better off watching the World Series because the debate, in my view, was a swing and a miss.”

Clinton then went to Littleton where she held a town hall at Littleton High School. The town hall was very similar to the one she held earlier in the day in that she answered a number of questions posed by voters. Videos from both of today’s events will be posted when/if available.
