Before the majority of Americans head to the polls on Tuesday, the campaign has heated up in the battle between Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump. Clinton has outlined a comprehensive platform while what has been offered by Trump little substance and foundation. Clinton’s platform is built on a career of public service and an understanding of domestic and foreign policies. While everyone may not agree with all of platform points, taken as a whole it is clear that she has put together a solid plan to more the country forward and ensure that everyone has an opportunity to live up to their full potential.
When Clinton has introduced a major platform topic, we add it to the Platform category of the website. Looking through Clinton’s speeches and policy proposals, a clear plan emerges. From Clinton’s kickoff rally in June 2015 to the announcement of her plan to combat bullying just a few weeks ago, a list of Clinton’s platform speech topics and announcement dates are below:
Hillary Clinton has been breaking new ground and fighting for women her entire career. Before she made history becoming the first female nominee of a major party for president, Hillary led the U.S delegation to the U.N Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, where she proclaimed that “women’s rights are human rights.” As a senator from New York, she championedthePaycheckFairness Actto helpclose the pay gap between women and men.
As President, Hillary will build on her record of fighting for women because although there has been tremendous strides when it comes to expanding opportunities for women there’s still much more work to be done. Donald Trump, however, has a very different record — he has spent his life, and this campaign, demeaning women.
Throughout this campaign, we’ve seen many examples of Trump’s alarming words and deeds towards women like his revolting comments on a bus caught on tape, his repeated behavior insulting and degrading women who stood up to him, his bragging about walking in on nude pageant contestants, some of whom were apparently under aged, his jokes objectifying women, and more.
It’s clear Trump’s dangerous proposals would take us backwards. Over the course of the campaign, we’ve watched Trump dismiss women in the workplace and say that women who choose to have abortions should be “punished.”
Trump’s policies on women and dangerous rhetoric have demonstrated he is unfit to be President of the United States. With one week left of the presidential campaign, here is a recap of Trump’s history of belittling and bullying women:
MISOGYNISTIC AND OFFENSIVE RHETORIC
Trump has talked disparagingly about women — calling them pigs and rating their bodies on a 1 to 10 scale. From his revolting nicknames to his lewd comments, Trump’s rhetoric about women is inexcusable.
Trump: referred to a pageant contestant as “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping,” and then doubled down years later saying “she gained a massive amount of weight.”
Trump on Carly Fiorina: “Look at that face! … Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!”
Trump: “A person who is flat-chested is very hard to be a 10,” he told Howard Stern.
Trump: “But whenever she sees me, she kisses my ass. She’s disgusting.”
Trump: “There’s a lot of women out there that demand that the husband act like the wife.”
Trump: “And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”

WRONG ON WOMEN IN THE WORKPLACE
Donald Trump has a long history of demeaning women in the workplace and has said that “putting a wife to work is a very dangerous thing” – so it’s no surprise that he has a bad record when it comes to hiring women and supporting equal pay.
When Trump was asked why his campaign paid women less than men, he replied that in his business salaries were based on “talent.”
Trump’s public companies have had very few women in senior roles: only 6 of 59 of Trump’s casino executives were women.
Trump to a young women asking about equal pay: “You’re going to make the same if you do as good a job”
Trump on what employing mothers can mean for a business: “She’s not giving one hundred percent, she’s giving me eighty-four percent”
Trump said pregnancy was an “inconvenience” for employers
Trump called a working mother “disgusting” for requesting a break to go pump breast milk

WRONG ON REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM

Trump has bragged about sexually assaulting women and suggests that his determination of whether or not a woman is worth assaulting is based on their attractiveness.
Today, Hillary Clinton announced a major new plan to help children, families and educators confront the challenge of bullying and heal divisions in communities around the country. The initiative, Better Than Bullying, would provide $500 million in new funding to states that develop comprehensive anti-bullying plans, empowering communities to improve school climates and support our kids. Clinton believes that no child should face bullying or harassment, and she believes we all have a responsibility to our kids to find solutions to these challenges, to prioritize them and to implement them.
Hillary Clinton addressed the new plan during a rally today in North Carolina, saying:
“We all know that bullying is a real problem in our classrooms our playgrounds and online – and teachers have reported that this election has made it worse. I want you to know, we’re going to launch a major new effort to help states and communities and schools and families end bullying wherever it takes place… I can’t think of anything more important than making sure every single one of our children knows that they are loved just as they are. So ultimately, my friends, as Michelle reminds us, this election is about our kids – and in my case, my grandkids. Their lives and their futures, nothing is more important to me than that. I’ve been fighting for kids throughout my career. I will fight for them every single day of my Presidency.”

The federal government will provide flexible grants to states to tailor anti-bullying plans to their local communities, in keeping with the following national priorities:
Developing comprehensive anti-bullying laws and policies that explicitly prohibit bullying on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and religion.
Making the Internet a safer space for kids by addressing cyberbullying.
Supporting educators working to improve school climate.
Providing support for students impacted by bullying and abuse.
Expanding behavioral health programming — teaching young people to control their impulses, recognize the feelings of others, and manage stress and anxiety.
Hillary for America also released a new television ad, “Bryce,” that tells the story of a young man with muscular dystrophy who has overcome bullying. Throughout the campaign, Clinton has talked about the need for more love and kindness in our culture, and she’s recognized that bullying is an urgent crisis that contributes to poor academic performance, increased incidence of depression, and in some extreme cases, suicide.

First Lady Michelle Obama was on the campaign trail today in Manchester, New Hampshire. Obama delivered a powerful speech denouncing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s comments about women and allegations of sexual assault against him. “We have a candidate for president of the United States who over the course of his lifetime, over the course of this campaign, has said things about women that are shocking, so demeaning. I simply will not repeat anything here today. Last week, we actually saw this candidate bragging about sexually assaulting women. I can’t believe I’m saying that, a candidate for president of the United States bragged about sexually assaulting women.”
Obama called Trump’s language hurtful and disrespectful to both women and men adding, “I can tell you the men in my life do not talk about women like this. I know my family is not unusual. They are loving fathers who are sickened by the thought of their daughters being exposed to this kind of vicious language about women.” She said that they way we as a society treat each other is important and she recalled telling a group of young women at the White House a few days ago saying, “I told them they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I wanted them to understand that the measure of any society is how it treats women and girls.” A video of Obama’s powerful speech is below.
On Thursday, Tim Kaine appeared on an episode of ABC’s The View where he was interviewed by the show’s hosts. During the interview, Kaine was asked about a number of topics including his thoughts on recent allegations of sexual assault against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, his thoughts on last week’s Vice Presidential Debate, and working with Hillary Clinton. Kaine was then joined by his wife, Anne Holton, and the interview focused more on Kaine the person and his relationship with his wife. Watch videos of the interview below.
Yesterday, Hillary for America Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri offered the following statement in response to the new allegations about Donald Trump’s actions:
“This disturbing story sadly fits everything we know about the way Donald Trump has treated women. These reports suggest that he lied on the debate stage and that the disgusting behavior he bragged about in the tape are more than just words.”
On Sunday night, presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton faced off in the second of three debates. The debate was intended to be a town hall style event moderated by CNN’s Anderson Cooper and ABC’s Martha Raddatz; however, it quickly descended into a series of personal attacks. Clinton hammered Trump for his comments about women, Muslims, immigrants, and everyone else has insulted. Trump went after Bill Clinton’s sexual scandals and threatened to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Clinton if he is elected. For 90 minutes, the candidates bickered, and occasionally, spoke about policy.
While pundits will argue who won and who lost last night’s debate, what is important is who you feel will best represent you. This political cycle has become more about personality and less about the issues at stake. Both candidates have outlined a series of policies they believe are important to them and that says a lot about their beliefs. What is key is that on November 8, you have a choice. You have a voice at the ballot box and make sure it is heard. Vote.

The results from the second presidential debate are crystal clear, Hillary Clinton is the victor. Last night, Donald Trump repeated the same falsehoods he’s spewed since the start of his campaign, admitted to evading federal taxes for years and tried to mask his offensive comments and actions against women as “locker room talk.” Post-debate polls and journalist have agreed there’s only one candidate fit to be commander-in-chief.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch Editorial: A debate unlikely to win voters over to Trump’s side “Trump made clear he is not aiming for a campaign reset but instead will use misogyny as a theme to attack his opponent. As angry accusations flew between him and Clinton, Trump stated bizarrely, “We have a divided nation … because of people like her. Believe me, she has tremendous hate in her heart …tremendous hatred.” In response to the laundry list that Hillary Clinton gave of his insulting treatment of women, Latinos, Muslims, immigrants and disabled people, Trump’s response was to wave it off along with the scandal that erupted Friday regarding his 2005 remarks: “It’s just words, folks. Just words. … That was locker room talk.” He then, inexplicably, tried to transition from that to a critique of the Obama administration and the Islamic State. … Whether Trump managed to win over undecided voters with his show Sunday night is anyone’s guess. Before tonight’s debate, Donald Trump appeared on social media with women who have accused former president Bill Clinton of sexual assault. Hillary for America Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri released the following statement in response.
“We’re not surprised to see Donald Trump continue his destructive race to the bottom. Hillary Clinton understands the opportunity in this town hall is to talk to voters on stage and in the audience about the issues that matter to them, and this stunt doesn’t change that. If Donald Trump doesn’t see that, that’s his loss. As always, she’s prepared to handle whatever Donald Trump throws her way.”
