On Friday, Hillary Clinton spoke at the Society of Irish Women’s dinner in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She spoke to the group for nearly twenty minutes about a number of topics including her local connections. Her grandfather worked in a Scranton lace mill for more than 50 years. She said that it was her father who left the area for Chicago, where she grew up. Clinton wrapped up her speech by hinting that she may be planning a political comeback soon. “I’m like a lot of my friends right now. I have a hard time watching the news, I’ll confess. I am ready to come out of the woods and to help shine a light on what is already happening around kitchen tables, at dinners like this,” she said. Watch a full video of Clinton’s speech below.
Vice President Joe Biden remained in Pennsylvania on Sunday where he campaigned for Hillary Clinton at two events. He began with a rally in Harrisburg where he spoke about the importance of not underestimating Donald Trump and getting out to vote on Tuesday. Biden said that that the best way to ensure that Clinton and other Democrats is elected is by voting and getting friends a family to vote as well. In Scranton, Biden spoke on the campus of Johnson College saying that he was happy to back in his hometown. During his speech, Biden outlined a number of Clinton’s key platform points saying that her optimistic and inclusive plan for the future is better than the divisive vision offered by Trump. He challenged Trump’s “make America great again” slogan saying, “We are already a great country. We went from crisis to recovery and now we are moving toward resurgence.” Biden warned that Trump will take the progress and throw it out the window if elected. On Saturday, Bill Clinton campaigned for Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin at an event in Greenfield. Speaking at a local union hall, Bill spoke about a number of Hillary’s key platform points including her plans to raise the minimum wage, lower the cost of higher education, and build the middle class. He framed Hillary as the candidate that will help those who have been “left out and left behind.” He spoke about the importance of continuing the progress made over the last few years and said Hillary is the only candidate who will continue to the accomplishments of the current administration. Senator Bernie Sanders, meanwhile, remained on the campaign trail attending two events in Pennsylvania. Sanders’ first event was in Scranton where he spoke to a group of supporters at Scranton High School. During his speech, he said that Hillary will fight for equal pay for women, the expansion of health care, laws that ensure the “billionaire class” pays its fair share of taxes, and a reduction in the cost of higher education. Sanders also referred to Hillary’s opponent, Donald Trump, saying, “We cannot elect a president of the United States whose cornerstone of his campaign is bigotry and dividing us up. We have struggled for too many years, too many people have stood up and fought and some have died… we are not going back to those days.” A video of Sanders’ speech is below.
In Philadelphia, Sanders spoke about the same platform points during his speech, but he also underscored the importance of electing Hillary over Trump. This is especially true following the release of an audio recording that captured Trump using crude and derogatory language to describe women. Sanders went after Trump saying, “I think you’ve got a spoiled brat. I think you’ve got a person who grew up very very wealthy who thinks that he is entitled to do anything that he wants.” He said that Trump’s comments were inexcusable, and he needs “to take responsibility for his own actions.” A video from the Philadelphia rally is below.
Meanwhile, in Raleigh, North Carolina, a fundraiser was held on behalf of Hillary for America at the home of Dr. Ken and Tijuana Crosby. The event featured a conversation with the Little Rock 9: Ernest Green, Carlotta Walls LaNier, and Terrence Roberts.
On Thursday, Chelsea Clinton and Anne Holton campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton. Chelsea was in Scranton, Pennsylvania where she spoke about her mother’s softer side as well as several points from her campaign platform. She focused on family and educating that Hillary’s plans would ensure that incomes for all families will rise. Chelsea stressed the importance of the upcoming election urging voters not to wane in support of her mother. “My mother will make sure we all live in a country that we want our children to grow up in. There is so much at stake in this election and it will be won by the conversations you all have between now and Nov. 8,” she said. A video from the event will be added when/if available.
Anne Holton, Tim Kaine’s wife, held two events in the Denver, Colorado area on Thursday. The first event was described as an organizing meeting where she was to speak about Hillary’s platform with supporters. The second event was billed as an education roundtable discussion. Holton is the former Secretary of Education for the state of Virginia, and Hillary has been using Holton’s expertise on the campaign trail. In addition, two fundraisers were held today for Hillary for America. The first was in Denver, Colorado and featured a conversation with Anne Holton with special guest Maulik Pancholy. The event was hosted by Saira Rao and Shiv Govindan. The second event was held in New York City and featured Amanda Renteria. That event was hosted by Carlos Del Toro.
Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden hit the campaign trail together today for the first time this year. Speaking to a crowd in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Clinton began be talking about her commitment to jobs and her commitment to health care. Specifically, she vowed to continue the Cancer Moonshot program, an initiative led by by Vice President Biden. When Biden spoke, he painted Donald Trump as unfit to lead the country while describing Clinton as a champion of the people. He said, “What Hillary is all about is making sure that every one of you can look your child, your grandchild, in the eye and say, ‘It’s going to be okay.’ Think how many people don’t think they can say that anymore.” The rally lasted about an hour, and a video from the event is below.
On Friday, Hillary Clinton spent the day in Pennsylvania leading up to next week’s primary. She attended events and visited with voters across the state. She began in Philadelphia where she spoke with Lilly Ledbetter, then in Jenkinstown, she spoke with a number of voters at a local cafe. During the conversation, she presented a number of her plans to continue economic growth, introduce new jobs, improve health care, and lower the cost of higher education. She then went to the Pittsburgh area where she had dinner at Primanti Brothers restaurant in Market Square where she spoke with supporters about labor unions, the minimum wage, and the struggles of the middle class.
In the evening, Clinton held an organizing event at Dunmore High School in Scranton. She had a populist tone as she referenced a number of local examples and bringing additional jobs to the area. She spoke about a number of her platform points and was largely positive in her outlook, “I believe we can still make it in America. We will knock down the barriers, and we will raise the minimum wage.” Clinton also spoke about her plans to expand mental health care and combat the heroin epidemic in the Northeast. She said, “Two things I hear most about are mental health and addiction. When I shake the hand of a mother, father, brother or sister of a mental health patient, they look at me and tell me they need help.” A video from the event will be posted when/if available.
Clinton was not alone on the campaign trail Friday. Secretary of Labor Tom Perez was in Reading, Pennsylvania where he spoke with a group of Hillary supporters. In Providence, Rhode Island, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards spoke with a group of supporters.
Following Hillary Clinton’s primary win in New York, the focus has turned to next week’s primaries. Pennsylvania is one of five states holding a primary on Tuesday, and Bill Clinton was campaigning on behalf of his wife in Johnstown. Speaking with supporters at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Bill spoke about his wife’s experience and qualifications as president. He outlined a number of her platform points including her plans to tackle income inequality, regulate Wall Street shadow banking, reduce student debt, and lower the cost of higher education. On the topic of the rising cost of college, he said, “Anybody that goes to a school with reasonable tuition and a decent graduation rate should qualify for help. Everybody that needs free tuition should get it.” A video of his speech will be added when/if available.
Chelsea Clinton was in Connecticut, another state with a primary next Tuesday, where she attended two fundraisers. The first was in Hartford and included a conversation with Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen. The second event was held in West Hartford. Chelsea attended a fundraiser at the home of Shari and Michael Cantor.
Bill and Chelsea were not the only supporters on the campaign trail for Hillary for America. Wendy Sherman, Former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, attended a fundraiser in Newton, Massachusetts. The event was hosted by Eleanor White and Amb. Barry White (Ret.). In Scranton, Pennsylvania, actress Kathy Najimy and HFA Director of Women’s Outreach Mini Timmaraju attended a fundraiser. The final fundraiser was held in Horsham and was hosted by Jeff Albert, David Broida, Ellen Brookstein, Shelly Waldman, Jill Zipin, and JACPAC. The fundraiser was in support of the Jewish Community for Hillary and included an appearance by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell.
On Thursday, Bill Clinton held two organizing events in Pennsylvania. The first was in Philadelphia where he spoke about Hillary’s experience and plans to continue growing the economy, improving heath care, and making sure everyone has an equal opportunity. Toward the end of his speech, Bill was interrupted by protesters and he engaged them for over ten minutes, but they continued to shout over his answers to their questions and concern prompting him to respond, “I like protesters, but the ones that won’t let you answer are afraid of the truth.”
Bill then spoke at an event in Scranton. Speaking at Scranton High School, Bill focused on Hillary’s platform and her plans to continue the progress of the last eight years. He said, “If you want to do something to make America better, you ought to pick the best change-maker with the best ideas, the best preparation, the best job at this time. If that’s the test, it’s not close. You know her here. You’ve been good to her here. You’ve been good to me here.” Videos from today’s events will be posted when/if available.
In Texas, Chelsea Clinton attended three fundraisers on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was in El Paso where she attended an event hosted by Governor Carlos Hisa. Clinton then attended a fundraiser in San Antonio. The event was held at the home of Jennifer and Saul Perloff. Her final event of the day was in Dallas where she attended an event at the home of Julie Johnson and Sue Moster. Meanwhile, in New York, De’Ara Balenger, Director of Engagement, attended a fundraiser at Artspace.

Hillary Rodham Clinton attended two fundraisers today in two different states. In Scranton, Pennsylvania, she attended a private fundraiser. Clinton is well known in the community as the city is the childhood home of her father, Hugh Rodham. She also attended a fundraiser at the Radisson Hotel in Corning, New York. The event was hosted by Corning CEO Wendell Weeks and Corning Chief Financial Officer James Flaws. As with all private fundraisers, the events were not open to the press.
