Clinton Returns to California for Fundraisers

Last week, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended events in San Francisco and Los Angeles. On Friday, she attended three fundraisers in Hollywood that were attended by Leonardo DiCaprio, Dustin Lance Black, Elizabeth Banks, Howard Gordon, and Bruce Cohen. The events took place at the homes of HBO’s Michael Lombardo and actor Tobey Maguire. Earlier in the day, Clinton also attended a fundraiser at the home of Westfield Corp co-CEO Peter Lowy. She is reported to have addressed a number of issues, including the recent shooting in a Charleston, South Carolina church. All three events were closed to the press.

Saturday, Clinton addressed the The US Conference of Mayors where she called for stronger gun restrictions following the shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. She acknowledged that there is still work to be done with regard to race relations. She said, “Despite our best efforts and our highest hopes, America’s long struggle with race is far from finished. I know this is a difficult topic to talk about. I know that so many of us hoped by electing our first black president, we had turned the page on this chapter in our history. I know there are truths we do not like to say out loud or discus with our children. But we have to.”

Clinton attends California Fundraisers

920x920-2On Wednesday, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended several private fundraisers in San Francisco. The events were not open to the public or press. After her fundraisers, however, Clinton made a surprise stop at Red Blossom Tea Company in Chinatown where she met with San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee. Lee said that he and Clinton discussed several topics including the challenge in running the city, the economy, homelessness, and immigration.

Clinton continued her trip to California on Thursday by attending three private fundraisers in Los Angeles. All three fundraisers were closed to the public and press. The private events have drawn some criticism and are in contrast to her last three stops in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada, which have been a part of her campaign opening listening tour. Clinton is expected to be back on campaign trail soon.

Dreamforce Conference

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered the keynote address at the Dreamforce Conference in San Francisco. Clinton spoke to the technology community and urged them to continue to innovate. The conference, sponsored by SalesForce, focused on the future of technology. Clinton said, “What we have to be really focused on now is making sure that the benefits of technology to people’s lives outweigh the pitfalls — and it is as evenly distributed as it is possible to do — creating more jobs, connecting up more families and communities, and expanding our horizons.” In addition, Clinton praised SalesForce CEO Marc Benioff for his charity work. She also voiced her support for Net Neutrality as broadband internet companies begin to stream certain businesses content faster in return for payment. Net Neutrality would ensure that the internet provider could not slow down a sites content simply because they did not pay.

Marketo’s Marketing Nation Summit

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke today at Marketo’s Marketing Nation Summit in San Francisco, California. She gave brief remarks, then began a Q&A period. During this session, she was asked whether she would run for president in 2016. As usual, she said that she was “thinking about it.” However, she went a little further to suggest a reason that she is hesitant: increasing partisanship. Clinton said, “I would be the first to say we’re having a political period of, frankly, dysfunction. I saw it from afar as secretary and it was disheartening and even embarrassing to see people arguing about letting us default on our debt.”
