Hillary Clinton Campaigns with Michelle Obama in North Carolina

Hillary Clinton campaigned with First Lady Michelle Obama in Winston Salem, North Carolina where they spoke to a crowd of over 10,000 supporters. Clinton spoke first about a number of platform points geared toward women including ensuring equal pay and paid family leave. She also attacked Donald Trump for his comments about and actions toward women saying, “I wish I didn’t have to say this, but indeed dignity and respect for women and girls is also on the ballot this election.”

Clinton then turned the microphone over to Obama who spoke about the importance of the election and voting for Clinton and other Democrats across the country. Most importantly, she stressed the importance of voting against Trump, although she never mentioned him by name. As Hillary said, the stakes in this election could not be more clear. This election is about something much bigger. This is about our children…. With every action we take, with every word we utter, we think about the millions of children watching us….. And why every day we try to be the kind of politicians that children deserve.” She concluded her speech by encouraging everyone to vote on November 8th or to take advantage of North Carolina’s early voting. While in the area, Clinton made a surprise stop in Greensboro where she spoke with voters in line waiting to vote. North Carolina offers early voting, and Clinton stopped and visited with several of them. Clinton was pleased by the turnout saying, “Early voting is really all about you. We’re going to have the biggest vote ever in North Carolina if all of you come out and vote.”

Bill Clinton, Anne Holton Campaign for Hillary

On Wednesday, Bill Clinton campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton in Iowa. His first stop was in Indianola where he spoke about a number of Hillary’s platform points before challenging Donald Trump’s vision of America. Bill criticized the Trump campaign for its “venom and poison and nastiness,” and he also went after the campaign’s slogan “make America great again.” Bill said he did not like what that implied saying, “That’s an economic and a social message. It is (a message that says), ‘We’ve become too diverse and I’ll move you back up the social totem pole and give you the economy you had 50 years ago.’” Following the event, Bill traveled to his next stop, but made a surprise stop for coffee in Ames. Bill’s final event of the day was an organizing event in Waterloo. Speaking for nearly an hour, he spoke about a number of Hillary’s platform points saying that while there has been progress, some people are not seeing it. But Bill said that he does not buy into Trump’s vision of America. “I have heard now for a year and a half how terrible America is, how we’re going to hell in a handbasket, how we’re being by overrun by people from somewhere else, and it’s us against them. So, here we are in Waterloo, you’ve got an African-American mayor. I met in the line people associated with every religion, from at least five different European countries … and at least two Muslims. That’s America,” he said. Bill called for an inclusive country saying that our diverse population is our country’s biggest asset. A video from the event is below.

Anne Holton, meanwhile, spoke at events in Manchester and Salem, New Hampshire. During each event, Holton focused on Hillary’s platform plans to expand education for the youngest Americans as well as those who are going to college. Holton, the former Secretary of Education for Virginia, has been holding roundtable events for the campaign since her husband, Tim Kaine, was announced as Hillary’s running mate. Bill and Chelsea Clinton Continue Campaign Appearances

On Wednesday and Thursday, Bill and Chelsea Clinton continued to campaign on behalf of Hillary Clinton. Wednesday, Bill was in New Hampshire for two events. The first was a gathering with volunteers in Salem. His second event of the day was in Concord where he spoke at a rally. He asked those in attendance at both events to support Hillary in the tight race between her and Bernie Sanders. Bill touted Hillary’s experience and the fact that she is a “change maker.” He admitted that he always knew she would have a tough time in New Hampshire saying, “We’re fighting it out in Iowa. We’ve got a little lead that I think is solidifying and maybe growing a little bit. We’re on a home-field disadvantage here. But the real issue is, who can win the election, who’s prepared the do the job, who can make real change?” A video from the Salem event is below.

Today, both Bill and Chelsea were scheduled to attend fundraisers. Bill was in Denver, Colorado for a fundraiser at the home of Cindy and Steve Farber. Chelsea, meanwhile, attended a fundraiser in support of the Clinton Foundation Haiti Relief Fund at the TriBeCA SoulCycle studio. The proceeds from that event were not for Hillary for America.

Lena Dunham and Abby Wambach Campaign for Hillary

Yesterday, two major stars joined the Hillary for America ranks in support of Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail. Actress Lena Dunham and US Women’s Soccer star Abby Wambach spent Friday traveling around New Hampshire talking to voters and fans about Clinton and why they support her as our next president. They both spoke about issues that are important to them including women’s rights and LGBT issues. Wambach said, “I want to see Hillary Clinton in the office. She has amazing, amazing stamina. She’s smart and she has been basically doing it by herself as a woman alone among all other men for how many years. It’s time people. It’s time for women to be seen as real equals.”

Dunham and Wambach appeared together at an event in Portsmouth before they attended individual events in Manchester, Dover, Concord, Salem, Lebanon, and Keene. Wambach even took part in a phone bank call out campaign in Concord. Dunham concluded the day by attending an evening event in Chicago.

Today, Dunham was in Des Moines and Iowa City holding conversation events. Dunham and Wambach weren’t the only supporters on trail for Hillary this week. Former President Bill Clinton hosted a number of organizing events in New Hampshire and Iowa. He also attended a number of fundraisers. Today and tomorrow in Iowa, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe will meet with volunteers and supporters as they prepare to go out and knock on doors or make phone calls in support of Hillary.

Clinton Criticizes Trump in New Hampshire

On Tuesday evening, Hillary Clinton denounced Republican Donald Trump’s recent comments that as president he would ban Muslims from entering the United States. During a town hall event in Salem, New Hampshire, Clinton said his comments provide propaganda opportunities for ISIS and other extremists. She said, “We’re dealing with a party at danger of losing its way, of undermining the values that we have stood for. Go back and read what George Washington said about how we must resist bigotry. Read about what religious freedom means, how our Constitution enshrines it.”

During the event, Clinton covered a number of topics of her platform, but she focused on the impact of drug abuse. New Hampshire has been hit hard by substance abuse issues, and Clinton has held two town halls in the state focusing on substance abuse and the required treatment. Clinton will be back in New Hampshire in a few weeks for the next Democratic Debate being held on December 19. A full video from the event is below.

Clinton Attends DC Area Fundraisers

On Sunday and Monday, Hillary Clinton attended several fundraisers in the Washington, DC area. On Sunday, Clinton attended a DC fundraiser hosted by Rachel Goslins and Julius Genachowski. She also attended a fundraiser hosted by Steven and Carrie Vanroekel, also in DC. Vanrokel is a former federal Chief Information Officer of the United States. She then attended a fundraiser at the Alexandria, Virginia home of Betty and Carlos Del Toro. Then on Monday, Clinton attended two private fundraisers. The first was held in Washington, DC, and the second was held at the home of Valerie and Wayne Rogers in Owings Mill, Maryland. As with all private fundraisers, the events were closed to the press.
