Clinton Campaign Responds to Trump’s Comments

During a speech on Tuesday, Donald Trump seemed to suggest that Hillary Clinton could be threatened by gun owners if she continues to fight for gun control in Congress and the courts. Trump said, “Hillary wants to abolish — essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.” Many viewed his statement as a threat, and Hillary for America was quick to respond. Campaign Manager Robby Mook released a brief statement condemning Trump’s suggestion of violence. Mook’s full statement is below.

“This is simple—what Trump is saying is dangerous. A person seeking to be the President of the United States should not suggest violence in any way.”

Clinton, Kaine Campaign in Miami

Hillary Clinton and her newly announced running mate, Senator Tim Kane, appeared at their first joint campaign rally since yesterday’s announcement. Speaking in Miami, Florida, the event served as an introduction of Kaine to her supporters and the American people. While Clinton introduced Kaine and praised his public service record, she wasted no time going after Republican Donald Trump and his running mate saying, “I have to say, Senator Tim Kaine is everything that Donald Trump and Mike Pence are not.”

Kaine then took the stage and spoke about a number of topics including religion (he is Catholic while Clinton is Methodist), family, and the military. He spoke about how is son, a Marine, will soon be deployed, and he criticized Trump’s waffling support of America’s military veterans. Kaine followed Clinton’s lead in attacking Trump’s business record, his record in supporting the military, and his thin skin. He acknowledged that some people may not know who he is joking, “Now, I know for a lot of you, this might be the first time you’re hearing me speak. And hey, let me be honest, for many of you, this is the first time you’ve even heard my name.” He continued, “But that’s OK because I’m excited for us to get to know one another.” A video from the event is below.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Campaign Manager Robby Mook and State Representative Brian Sims held a fundraising event. The event was billed as a LGBT and Allies Convention Kick-Off in preparation of the DNC beginning on Monday.

Hillary Clinton Interviewed by the USA Today

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton was interviewed by the USA Today. During the interview, Clinton laid her reasoning for calling Republican Donald Trump “temperamentally unfit” to be president. She spoke about Trump’s “incoherent” economic plans that would benefit those making the most money. Clinton also went after Trump’s response to the shooting in Orlando, Florida and the conspiracy theories he has started following his speeches. She said, “Now he is accusing our president of somehow encouraging terrorists and it is really offensive, even pathetic. And I do wonder how Republican leaders like House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell can stay silent while their presumptive party nominee suggests that the President of the United States supports terrorists.” Read more of the interview HERE.

Today, two fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was in Boston, Massachusetts and featured a conversation with Allida Black. The event was hosted by Martha Coakley, Ron Goodman, and Tracy Roosevelt. The second event was in Washington, DC and was a LGBT and Allies for Hillary Pride Celebration. The event featured Campaign Manager Robby Mook, Congressman Mark Takano, and members of the LGBT caucus.

Hillary Clinton is the Presumptive Democratic Nominee

Following yesterday’s primary in Puerto Rico and the addition of pledged superdelegates, the AP and other new outlets have reported Hillary Clinton has reached the necessary 2,383 delegates to secure the Democratic Party’s nomination for president. The nomination is historic as Clinton becomes the first female presidential nominee of a major political party. In Long Beach, California, Clinton addressed the news saying, “According to the news, we are on the brink of a historic, historic, unprecedented moment but we still have work to do don’t we? We have six elections tomorrow and we are going to fight hard for every single vote especially right here in California!”

On Twitter, Clinton’s team downplayed the headline saying that she is still fighting for votes in the six states that vote tomorrow: California, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, New Jersey, and South Dakota. Campaign manager Robby Mook said in a statement, “This is an important milestone, but there are six states that are voting Tuesday, with millions of people heading to the polls, and Hillary Clinton is working to earn every vote. We look forward to Tuesday night, when Hillary Clinton will clinch not only a win in the popular vote, but also the majority of pledged delegates.” Tomorrow night, Clinton is hosting an election night party in Brooklyn where she is expected to celebrate securing the number of delegates required for the nomination.

Hillary Clinton Interviewed by CNN, Attends Chicago Fundraisers

Today, Hillary Clinton was interviewed on CNN by Jake Tapper. The exclusive interview was about half an hour long, and Tapper asked Clinton about a variety of topics including her primary battle with Senator Bernie Sanders, a number of her platform points, and her thoughts on presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. When asked whether she thought Trump is qualified to be president, she replied with a simple “no.” She added, “I know how hard this job is, and I know that we need steadiness as well as strength and smarts in it, and I have concluded he is not qualified to be president of the United States.” She went on to criticize a number of Trump’s proposals arguing that they would not make America safer, but would actually make it more vulnerable in the long run. Clinton also attended two fundraisers in the Chicago, Illinois. The first event was held in Park Ridge and was hosted by Beth and George Drost, Tracey and Charles Drost, and Betsy Ebeling. Bill, Chelsea Campaign for Hillary in New Jersey

On Friday, Bill Clinton campaigned on behalf of Hillary in New Jersey. Speaking to a crowd of supporters at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, Bill was confronted by a small group of protestors, but he turned his focus to Hillary’s platform and how her plans focus on “bridge-building, not wall building.” He criticized presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump for his rhetoric, and argued that it was better for everyone to work together to achieve our shared goals. He said, “We need the good freedom-loving, terror-hating Muslim-Americans to help us to lead the fight. We gotta live together and be citizens, together. We gotta protect everybody’s rights: Religious rights, women’s rights, voting rights and labor rights. We gotta prove to that we can do this together.”

Bill then traveled to Ewing Township where he spoke at the College of New Jersey. He, again, spoke about Trump and his plans to shut the borders of the United States to outsiders. Bill argued that does not work because of modern technology and social media. He said that we have to have a multi-front strategy that includes the internet. He said, “San Bernadino, our latest terrorist incident, was because of people converted over the Internet. America desperately needs its Muslims who love freedom and hate terror and want to be a part of this country.” Videos from today’s events will be posted when/if available.

Chelsea Clinton also attended two events in New Jersey. She took part in the opening of Hillary for America office in Metuchen and Bloomfield. At each event, she addressed local supporters and volunteers who came out for the event. Chelsea spoke about the importance of the 2016 election and why Hillary is best qualified for the White House. She thanked everyone for their support and asked for their vote on June 7.

Hillary, meanwhile, was in California where she spoke to CBS San Francisco. During the exclusive interview, she spoke about her platform and plans should she become president. She was asked about Trump a number of times, and she expressed her concern saying, “I’ve never seen a candidate like Donald Trump; that’s fair. And I’ve never seen so much concern – even in his own party – by Republicans about their nominee.” She also spoke about the importance of immigration reform, the need to upgrade the country’s infrastructure, and her thoughts on legalized marijuana. Two California fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was in San Francisco and focused on LGBT issues. The conversation featured Robby Mook, Campaign Manager; Teddy Goff, Chief Digital and Technology Strategist; and David Plouffe, Campaign Manager, Obama 2008. The second event was held in Santa Monica and was hosted by Roberta Conroy, Ashley Kennedy and Rosezetta Cummings, Claire Lucas and Judy Dlugacz, Andrea Meyerson, and Valerie Ploumpis. Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hillary in Kentucky

On Thursday, Bill Clinton returned to Kentucky where he campaigned on behalf of his wife Hillary. During his first appearance in Owenboro, Bill spoke about his wife’s experience and her dedication to helping people better themselves. He spoke about a number of Hillary’s platform points including health care, income inequality, and her plans to continue building the economy. Speaking at Kentucky Wesleyan College, Bill focused section of his speech on Kentucky specific policies, including the state’s coal economy. He said, “We’ve got to prove that every place in America can get its fair share of clean energy jobs. You say ‘Well, we’re a coal state.’ Yes, and we will continue to run coal for some years to come but that shouldn’t exclude other things.”

In Frankfort, Bill spoke with a crowd of supporters at the Capital Plaza Hotel. He spoke about the need for the continued need for job growth in the state and country, and he outlined Hillary’s plan to create new jobs with a number of his plans, including one to repair the country’s crumbling infrastructure. At both events, he referenced Hillary’s experience as a change maker saying, “She’s the best change maker I’ve ever known. She’s the best at this I’ve ever known. There are 35,000 potential votes in this primary and the fight for this area. So I want you to vote for her.” He then asked for voters’ support during Tuesday’s primary.

Bill’s final event of the day was held tonight in Prestonsburg. His speech focused on coal and what Hillary plans to do for communities that rely heavily on coal for jobs. He outlined her plan to bring new jobs and industry to the region as the United States begins to rely less and less on coal energy. Bill was greeted by some protesters and a few were vocal during his speech, but she said that he didn’t “care if you boo or cheer. I’m glad you’re here.” The coal industry in Kentucky is in decline and he assured voters that Hillary has a plan so they are not left behind. The second event was in Washington, DC and was hosted by Sherry and John Goodman. Bill, Chelsea, Others Campaign for Hillary on Monday

On Monday, a number of people campaigned in support of Hillary Clinton. Bill Clinton was in Washington, where he attended an Organizing Event in Spokane. Speaking at Spokane Falls Community College, Bill focused on the rising cost of education and Hillary’s plan to make college more affordable by expanding grant programs, expand work study programs, and simplify student loans. He explained that Hillary would pay for these changes by raising taxes on the wealthy. A video of his speech is below.

Tonight, Bill attend a second rally in Vancouver. During his speech, Bill characterized Hillary as a strong leader who would be a great commander-in-chief and a tough diplomat. He then spoke about Hillary’s plans to make college more affordable, to build upon the heath care system, help small businesses, and immigration reform. Following the event, Bill attended a Vancouver area fundraiser hosted by Craig Hartzman, Jim John, and Jane and Paul Jacobsen. A video from the public event is below.

This afternoon, Chelsea Clinton attended a fundraiser at the home of Ambassador Eleni Kounalakis. The reception took place in San Francisco, California. As with all private fundraisers, it was closed to the press.

In Dallas, Texas, Campaign Manager Robby Mook attended a fundraiser at the home of Dr. Mark Parker and Eric Johnson. Meanwhile, Campaign Chair John Podesta hosted a fundraiser in Washington, DC that featured a number of former members of Congress including: Jim Blanchard, Dennis Cardoza, Bob Carr, Vic Fazio, Martin Frost, Bart Gordon, Kay Hagan, Barbara Kennelly, Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Tom McMillen, Jim Moran, Earl Pomeroy, Mark Pryor, Bart Stupak, John Tanner, and Alan Wheat. Podesta hosted a second Washington, DC area fundraiser hosted by Susan Brophy, Ann Castagnetti, David Castagnetti, Steve Elmendorf, Jeff Forbes, and Joel Johnson. The final fundraiser of the day was in New York City where Senior Policy Advisor Jake Sullivan attended an event hosted by Judith Hochman and Richard Fuchs, Meghann Curtis and Michael Fuchs, Carol and Richard Hochman.

Bill, Chelsea Return to Campaign Trail

On Sunday, Chelsea and Bill Clinton returned to the west coast to campaign for Hillary Clinton. In Arizona, Bill Clinton attended two Get Out the Vote rallies before Tuesday’s primary. The first rally was in Tuscon where he was joined by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly. During Bill’s speech, he spoke about Hillary’s plans to enact common sense gun control and introduce required background checks when purchasing a firearm. He also spoke about immigration reform, which is a hot button issue in Arizona. Throughout his speech, he stressed the importance of the 2016 election and urged voters to support Hillary on Tuesday. Bill then attended a Get Out the Vote event in Phoenix. Speaking from Central High School, Bill addressed the national mood saying that he understands why people are angry, but we need to vote for someone who is going to make a difference and not someone who is full of rhetoric. Again, he touched on a number of key platform topics including immigration reform, health care, and economic equality. He concluded by asking for Arizona’s support on Tuesday, saying, “Needless to say, we had a pretty tough campaign eight years ago, and Arizona voted with us. Chelsea was in California where she attended three fundraisers. The first was held at the Los Angeles home of Elsa and Jarron Collins. The second event, hosted by Elsa Collins, featured a bicycle ride in West Hollywood. For the final event of the day, Chelsea was joined by actresses Lena Dunham and America Ferrera at NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles.

Two additional fundraisers were held on Sunday. The first was a reception with Campaign Manager Robby Mook in Dallas, Texas. The fundraiser took place at the home of Jorge Baldor. In Seattle, Washington, a fundraiser was held at the home of Jen Lamson and Ric Ilgenfritz. The event, which was hosted by Jen Lamson, Marilyn Heiman, and Marilyn Twitchell, featured a special live musical performance by Sheryl Wiser.

Bill Clinton Campaigns in Iowa

With just five days remaining before the Iowa caucuses, Bill Clinton was in Iowa campaigning for Hillary. During an event in Mason City, Bill spoke about Hillary’s experience and how she is the most experienced candidate in the race. He said that there are three questions on which a public figure should be judged: are people better off because of what they’ve done?; have they improved the outlook for future generations?; and have things come together because of their leadership? He said that for Hillary, the answer is “yes” on all three.

He also spoke about her plans for the economy and raising the minimum wage. He called Hillary a problem solver, and urged voters to caucus for her on Monday. He said, “You’ll never have another opportunity to vote for someone who has done so much for so many in and out of public office.” A video from yesterday’s event will be posted when/if available.

Chelsea Clinton was fundraising in New York City for Hillary on Wednesday. The first event was held at SoulCycle TriBeCa where a “Ride with Chelsea” event was held. Her second event was a LGBT reception that also featured Hillary for America Campaign Manager Robby Mook and tennis champion Billie Jean King.
