Hillary Clinton has been endorsed by Foreign Policy magazine. The endorsement is the first of its kind from the publication as it has never endorsed a political candidate for any office. Explaining their reasoning for breaking their tradition of staying out of politics, the editorial board said, “We cherish and fiercely protect this publication’s independence and its reputation for objectivity, and we deeply value our relationship with all of our readers, regardless of political orientation. It is for all these reasons that FP’s editors are now breaking with tradition to endorse Hillary Clinton for the next president of the United States.” They continued to explain that Clinton’s broad background in government makes her uniquely qualified for the White House while Republican Donald Trump provides new reasons each day why he is not. Hillary Clinton Statement on New Memo of Understanding between the United States and Israel

hillary-clinton-99d8ed7b-10c5-40dc-b8b9-884af36d5a21

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton released a statement of support for the new agreement between the United States and Israel. The plan will provide Israel with $38 billion in military aid over the next decade. In her statement, Clinton said that the agreement between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirms the relationship between the two countries. She vowed as president to continue that support. A copy of Clinton’s statement is below.

“America’s commitment to Israel’s security must always remain rock-solid and unwavering. That’s why Senator Kaine and I applaud the agreement on a new memorandum of understanding regarding American security assistance to Israel, and congratulate Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Obama on this important diplomatic achievement.

It reaffirms the depth and strength of the U.S.-Israel relationship — which is based on common security interests, shared values, and deep historical ties — and sends a clear message to the region and the world that we will always stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel.

The agreement will help solidify and chart a course for the U.S.-Israeli defense relationship in the 21st century as we face a range of common challenges, from Iran’s destabilizing activities to the threats from ISIS and radical jihadism, and efforts to delegitimize Israel on the world stage.

As President, I will work with our partners to implement this agreement, ensure that Israel always maintains its qualitative military edge, and take our alliance to the next level”

Hillary Clinton Talks about American Exceptionalism at American Legion Convention

AP_clinton_legion_as_160831_12x5_1600

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton addressed the American Legion National Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. During her speech, Clinton framed the United States as “exceptional” and a “leader” in the world. “When we say America is exceptional, it doesn’t mean that people from other places don’t feel deep national pride, just like we do. It means that we recognize America’s unique and unparalleled ability to be a force for peace and progress, a champion for freedom and opportunity,” she said.

Clinton argued that the United States and the world cannot afford the election of Donald Trump. Blasting Trump she said, “You don’t build a coalition by insulting our friends or acting like a loose cannon. You do it by putting in the slow, hard work of building relationships.” She went on to criticize Trump’s visit with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto today saying that one visit does not make up for months of his divisive rhetoric. Clinton wrapped up saying that she believes that this election is “about how to make things better,” and, as president, she vowed to do just that. A video of Clinton’s speech is below.

Hillary Clinton Statement on Brexit Vote

image1

On Thursday, voters in the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. There were many voices arguing for and against the move, but Hillary Clinton had been on the side of the United Kingdom remaining in the EU. Despite the vote, there remains a long process (at least two years) for the UK to leave the EU. Clinton released a statement today in which she said that she respected the choice the people of the UK made, and she wishes to continue the strong relationship between the United States and UK. A copy of Clinton’s statement is below:

“We respect the choice the people of the United Kingdom have made.  Our first task has to be to make sure that the economic uncertainty created by these events does not hurt working families here in America.  We also have to make clear America’s steadfast commitment to the special relationship with Britain and the transatlantic alliance with Europe.  This time of uncertainty only underscores the need for calm, steady, experienced leadership in the White House to protect Americans’ pocketbooks and livelihoods, to support our friends and allies, to stand up to our adversaries, and to defend our interests.  It also underscores the need for us to pull together to solve our challenges as a country, not tear each other down.”

UPDATE (6/26):

The Clinton campaign has released a national TV ad criticizing Republican Donald Trump’s reaction to the Brexit vote. Trump’s response was not one of concern for how the vote would affect the United States economy or our allies in the European Union and United Kingdom, instead, Trump seemed happy because he felt that his businesses would do better as a result of the weakening of the British Pound. The Clinton ad is below:

11150142_891732904216573_1781032207063359201_nYesterday, Hillary Rodham Clinton penned an op-ed that was published by Forward in which she outlines her plans for the relationship between the United States and Israel. Clinton pledged to support Israel and and vowed that she would continue to defend Israel as president. In the piece she says, “I am deeply committed to Israel’s future as a secure and democratic Jewish state, and just as convinced that the only way to guarantee that outcome is through diplomacy. And while no solution can be imposed from outside, I believe the United States has a responsibility to help bring Israelis and Palestinians to the table and to encourage the difficult but necessary decisions that will lead to peace. As president I will never stop working to advance the goal of two states for two peoples living in peace, security and dignity.”

Clinton Celebrates with the Foundry United Methodist Church

DEM_2016_Clinton-0538fThis morning, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended the service celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, DC. Clinton attended the service with Bill and Chelsea. She addressed the congregation and spoke about her upbringing in the Methodist Church describing herself as “Methodist both by birth and by choice.” The Clintons were members of the Foundry United Methodist Church during President Clinton’s terms as president.

Clinton also took a moment to talk about her relationship with the press, which has been described as cold and distant. She said, “I got some advice from Dr. Wogaman just earlier this morning, which I promise I will put into effect. Basically he said, if you’re going to read and listen to Romans 12 you got to be nicer to the press. So, to my friends in the press, I will certainly take that to heart.” Over the last few weeks, Clinton has been more open with the press holding press conferences and granting national interviews, something that is expected to continue into the fall. A clip from her speech today is below.

Tomorrow, Clinton returns to Iowa where she is attending events at two colleges. For all the latest news, follow our Scheduled Events page and follow Clinton on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
