Hillary Clinton Speaks at AFSCME Convention

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton was in Las Vegas where she addressed members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union. Clinton spoke about her platform and support for unions and American workers. She also commented on the Republican Convention taking place this week in Cleveland saying it was nothing more than a show. “Lots of sound and fury. Even a fog machine. But when you pulled back the curtain, there was just Donald Trump, with nothing to offer the American people,” she said. A video of Clinton’s speech is below.

Following her speech, Clinton spoke at a voter registration event in Las Vegas. During her brief remarks, she stressed the importance of voting in the November election and sending a clear message to Donald Trump that his divisive rhetoric is not what America stands for. She thanked volunteers for helping with the registration process and urged the to continue working to get as many eligible Americans registered to vote as possible. A video of her remarks is below.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, California, a fundraiser was held on behalf of Hillary for America. The event included a conversation with Former Ambassador Eleni Kounalakis and featured the art work of Nora Ligorano and Mashall Reese.

Hillary Clinton Addresses the NAACP

On Monday, Hillary Clinton spoke during the NAACP Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. During her speech, Clinton declared that the violence and “madness has to stop.” She said that as president she would push for reforms in law enforcement, and she condemned the killing of police officers following the murder of three officers yesterday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She said, “There is, as you know so well, another hard truth at the heart of this complex matter: Many African-Americans fear the police.” Clinton vowed to work toward bridging the gap between the African American community and local police forces. Following the event, Clinton traveled to the University of Cincinnati where she spoke at a local voter registration drive. She spoke about the importance of the 2016 election, and how important it is for voters to send a clear message that they do not stand for the divisive beliefs of Republican Donald Trump. Clinton Returns to Nevada

Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to Nevada to attend two major campaign events. Her first event was in Las Vegas where she spoke to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Office (NALEO). Clinton outlined the four fights of her campaign, and focused specifically on expanding funding for preschool programs. She said, “All of our kids need the opportunity to get off the to the best possible start, but too many children are getting behind.”

Clinton also spoke about voter rights and called for universal voter registration saying, “We should be making it easier to vote, not putting up barriers that disempower and disenfranchise Americans. Who are those barriers aimed at: young people, poor people and people of color.” She also focused on immigration, saying that if Congress refused to act on immigration, she would further expand the executive orders President Barack Obama has enacted. She also vowed to limit the the number of deportations, and her goal is comprehensive immigration reform.

In Reno, Clinton hosted a roundtable with a number of veterans. She spoke about her plans to maintain the world’s most powerful military. However, her primary concern is the struggles of veterans returning from combat and the delay of Veterans Affairs providing care. Clinton said veteran care is not a partisan issue, “No matter what we disagree on, we must agree on taking care of our vets.”
