Hillary Clinton Endorsed by Major Newspapers

This past week, Hillary Clinton secured the endorsement of three major newspapers for the upcoming Democratic primaries. In Florida, Clinton was endorsed by the editorial board of The Tampa Bay Times, who said that she is “prepared for the nation’s highest office.” She was also endorsed by two papers in Texas: The Houston Chronicle and The Dallas Morning News. The later said that Clinton was a better choice over Democratic rival Bernie Sander because “her passion for change is leavened by a pragmatism — and a recognition of costs — his lacks.” Click the links above to read the full endorsements.

Des Moines Register Interview

While in Iowa on Sunday, Hillary Rodham Clinton gave a rare one-on-one interview to The Des Moines Register. In the interview, Clinton talked about her ideas if she were to be elected president, and also the implications of possibly being the first woman president, but she doesn’t only want to be elected to make history. She said, “I expect to be judged on my merits, and the historic nature of my candidacy is one of the merits that I hope people take into account.”

Clinton Pens Op-Ed in El Mundo

Clinton holds a roundtable discussion in Las Vegas on May 5, 2015

On Friday, an op-ed by Hillary Rodham Clinton was published in the Las Vegas based Spanish-language newspaper El Mundo. In the op-ed, Clinton recalls her recent trip to Las Vegas where she met with young immigrants during a roundtable event. She promised to fight for immigration reform if elected president and referenced her voting record on immigration as a Senator. She reassured the Hispanic community that they can count on her to fight for the preservation of their families.

She wrote, “As a mother, grandmother, and American, I don’t know how a person can meet these young people that have contributed so much to their communities and represent so much potential for the future, and think of threatening them and their families with deportation. And still that is precisely what almost every Republican candidate would do.”
