Read: Hillary Clinton’s Broad Presidential Platform

Since launching her campaign last April, Hillary Clinton has outlined a number of major platform points in a series of speeches. Now that it it is clear the general election will be Clinton versus Republican Donald Trump, it is important that Clinton continue to deliver substantive speeches and combat a Trump platform that seems to offer no substance or foundation. Clinton’s platform is built on a career of public service and an understanding of domestic and foreign policies. While not everyone may agree with points of her platform, taken as a whole it is clear that she has put together a solid plan to more the country forward and ensure that everyone has an opportunity to live up to their full potential.

When Clinton has introduced a major platform topic, we add it to the Platform category of the website. Looking through Clinton’s speeches and policy proposals, a clear plan emerges. Hillary Clinton Statement on Brexit Vote

On Thursday, voters in the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. There were many voices arguing for and against the move, but Hillary Clinton had been on the side of the United Kingdom remaining in the EU. Despite the vote, there remains a long process (at least two years) for the UK to leave the EU. Clinton released a statement today in which she said that she respected the choice the people of the UK made, and she wishes to continue the strong relationship between the United States and UK. A copy of Clinton’s statement is below:

“We respect the choice the people of the United Kingdom have made.  Our first task has to be to make sure that the economic uncertainty created by these events does not hurt working families here in America.  We also have to make clear America’s steadfast commitment to the special relationship with Britain and the transatlantic alliance with Europe.  This time of uncertainty only underscores the need for calm, steady, experienced leadership in the White House to protect Americans’ pocketbooks and livelihoods, to support our friends and allies, to stand up to our adversaries, and to defend our interests.  It also underscores the need for us to pull together to solve our challenges as a country, not tear each other down.”

UPDATE (6/26):

The Clinton campaign has released a national TV ad criticizing Republican Donald Trump’s reaction to the Brexit vote. Trump’s response was not one of concern for how the vote would affect the United States economy or our allies in the European Union and United Kingdom, instead, Trump seemed happy because he felt that his businesses would do better as a result of the weakening of the British Pound. The Clinton ad is below:

Democratic National Convention Details

We are a little over a month away from the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The convention will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center. The event will be held July 25 – 28 and will include delegates from all 50 states, Washington, DC, and U.S. territories. The main purpose of the convention is the formal nomination of the Democratic Party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Democrat Hillary Clinton secured the required number of delegates required for the nomination in early June making her the first female presidential candidate to secure the nomination of a major political party. The Clinton camp is now working to select a running mate and build her team.

Hillary Clinton Discusses National Security in Virginia

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton held a round table discussion in Hampton, Virginia that covered a variety of topics including national security and and the military. Those included in the conversation represented a number of points of view including retired military officers and advocates for veterans and military families. During her remarks on national security, Clinton criticized Republican Donald Trump’s response to the shooting in Orlando saying, “After all the Twitter rants and conspiracy theories we’ve been hearing recently, it’s time for substantive discussions about how we protect our country, how we respond to terrorist attacks like the one that tragically occurred in Orlando.” Clinton stressed that it is important for everyone to work together to stop lone wolves and to ensure our military receives the best care during and after serving. Hillary Clinton Interviewed on “This Week”

This morning, Hillary Clinton was interviewed on ABC’s This Week by host George Stephanopoulos. During the interview, Clinton and Stephanolpoulos discussed her stepped up attacks on Republican nominee Donald Trump and her plans to go after him in the general election. When asked if she thought being more like him was the best way to beat him, she responded quickly by saying, “No, not at all. I laid out in my speech in San Diego the crux of my concerns and my case against him on foreign policy and national security. And a lot of what he says plays into what I consider to be a very divisive and dangerous view of the world. And I think it’s important that we call it for what it is.”

Clinton was also asked about the final round of primaries coming up this week and her continued fight with Bernie Sanders for the nomination of the Democratic Party. She expressed confidence that she will be Democratic nominee after Tuesday’s primaries. Other topics discussed included her use of a private email server as Secretary of State and whether she was concerned about the current investigation by the FBI, and she also discussed several of her platform points. Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Los Angeles Area

On Friday, Hillary Clinton held four campaign events in the Los Angeles, California area. Her first event was in Culver City and featured appearances by Elizabeth Banks, Sophia Bush, Michelle Kwan, Debra Messing, Mary Steenburgen, and Sally Field. Each actress took a few minutes to speak about why they supported Clinton. When Clinton took the stage, she stressed the importance of the 2016 election and defeating Republican nominee Donald Trump. Clinton concluded by asking for voters’ support in Tuesday’s primary saying, “Starting next Tuesday, we’re on our way to breaking the highest and hardest glass ceiling.” A video from the event is below.

She then traveled to Westminster where she spoke with supporters at a Get Out the Vote rally. During her speech, she spoke about a number of platform points including expanding health care, passing immigration reform, and lowering the cost of higher education. She continued to go after Trump saying that he has “set a very bad example” for not condemning violence at a number of his rallies. Clinton said that she does not want her supporters to provoke violence, but to be respectful of others. She said, “I don’t think any of this helps anybody.” Clinton went on to criticize a number of Trump’s proposals and comments before asking for voters’ support on June 7.

Clinton met with community leaders in Santa Ana. She gave a brief speech to the supporters present before sitting down with a group of city leaders and business owners to discuss local and national issues. The listening event has been a staple of Clinton’s 2016 campaign, and she has held at least one a day during this trip to California. Topics covered during the event included health care, immigration reform, and a number of other platform topics. A video of Clinton’s speech from the event is below.

The final event of the day was a Get Out the Vote rally in San Bernardino, a city still recovering the December 2015 terror inspired mass shooting. Clinton’s speech focused on national security and her vow to do everything she can to keep America and Americans safe from foreign and domestic threats. She said, “I want you to know from the bottom of my heart I will do whatever I can to protect America and Americans and do whatever I can to support our brave law enforcement, who were there protecting people right in this city.” Clinton discussed a number of other platform points during her 30-minute speech before asking for voters’ support in the state’s primary on Tuesday. Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Philadelphia

Following her landslide win in New York, Hillary Clinton returned to the campaign trail on Wednesday before next week’s primary contests by attending two events in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began by attending a community discussion  at St. Paul’s Baptist Church on police conduct that included former Attorney General Eric Holder, Geneva Reed-Veal, the mother of Sandra Bland, and other families affected by the actions of law enforcement. During the discussion, Reed-Veal recalled the actions of police officers that took the life of her daughter. Clinton vowed to work with law enforcement to change policies, demilitarize police forces, and improve police training. She said that she was willing to work with anyone to provide solutions saying, “They’re asking us to be there for them. I will do everything I can imagine. I want these women and so many other family members to hold me accountable for everything I can possibly do, because it is wrong.” A full video of the event is below.

Clinton then spoke at an organizing event at The Fillmore where she spoke about a number of her platform points and took shots at the Republican presidential candidate field. While Clinton’s message has been focused on the work to be done, she is optimistic saying, “I want us all to be reminded of the incredible legacy that we’ve all inherited. [But] I believe that our best years can still be ahead of us.” She went on to ask for voters’ support next Tuesday, and she said that she looks forward to returning to Philadelphia in June for the Democratic National Convention.

Democratic Primary Debate Schedule Announced

Democratic Debate in Iowa on December 13, 2007

On Thursday, the Democratic National Committee and CNN announced that the first of six Democratic party debates will be held on October 13. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Lincoln Chafee, Jim Webb, and Marin O’Malley are expected to take part.

There five other debates are outlined below:

• November 14: CBS, KCCI, and The Des Moines Register in Iowa
• December 19: ABC and WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire
• January 17: NBC and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute in Charleston, South Carolina
• February or March: Univision and The Washington Post in Miami, Florida
• February or March: PBS in Wisconsin.
