Hillary Clinton was one for three in Tuesday’s Democratic primaries in Arizona, Idaho, and Utah, but she earned nearly the same number of delegates as Bernie Sanders allowing her to inch closer to the 2,383 delegates required to secure the nomination. Clinton soundly won Arizona (57.6% to Bernie Sanders’ 39.9%), but she finished second in Idaho (78.0% to 21.2%) and Utah (79.3% to 20.3%). The next round of primaries will be held this Saturday in Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington.

Meanwhile, leading up to this weekend’s caucus in Washington, Hillary Clinton campaigned in the state. She began the day in Everett where she met with union worker at Boeing and addressed a crowd of supporters. Then, she met with local tribal leaders this afternoon in Puyallup. In Medina this evening, Clinton attended a private fundraiser at the home of Jeff and Susan Brotman. A video from her rally in Everett is below.
On Tuesday evening, Clinton held a rally with supporters in Seattle where she began by thanking the voters in Arizona for their support. Then, Clinton turned her attention to her Republican rivals and their campaign of fear. She criticized plans suggested by both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz to ban Muslims from entering the country and increasing surveillance on Muslims living in the country. She said, “It will not keep us safe. This is a time for America to lead, not cower.” She vowed to “take the fight” to ISIS but work with Muslims who want to defeat extremists. Yesterday, Democratic primaries were held in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio. As voters were heading to the poll, Bill and Hillary Clinton met with voters in two states. Bill was in Illinois where he visited voters in Chicago. Meanwhile, Hillary was in North Carolina where she took time to talk to and take pictures with voters in the Raleigh area.
As for the results, Hillary swept all five states, something that had not bee predicted. Early in the night, the states of Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio were called for Hillary. In Florida, Hillary was the clear winner with 64.4% to Sanders’ 33.3%. In North Carolina, Hillary won with 54.6% and Sanders had 40.8%. Ohio was a wild card going into the evening, but she won there by double digits: 56.5% to Sanders’ 42.7%.
Going late into the night, the two states in contention were her home state of Illinois and Missouri. Hillary was declared the winner with a lead over Sanders of 50.4% to 48.7%. Missouri proved to be a tight race for both Democrats and Republicans. While Hillary started with an early lead, Sanders overtook her and lead by as much as 3%. But votes from St. Louis and Kansas City pushed her ahead and she won 49.6% to 49.4%. The margin of victory was 1,531 votes!
After being declared the winner in Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio, Clinton spoke to supporters at an event in West Palm Beach, Florida. During her speech, she thanked her supporters and volunteers and said the fight was not over. However, she turned her attention away from the Democratic primary to the general election against Republican front-runner Donald Trump. She said, “When we hear a candidate for president call for rounding up 12 million immigrants, banning all Muslims from entering the United States, when he embraces torture, that doesn’t make him strong, it makes him wrong.” A video of her victory speech is below.
On Friday, Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan attended a number of events across the country in support of Hillary Clinton. Bill began in Kansas City, Missouri, making up for an appearance he had to previously cancel due to weather. Speaking at the Kansas City Carpenters Union Training Facility, Bill spoke about Hillary’s experience and her plans to build upon progress that has already been made. He criticized Hillary’s Democratic rival Bernie Sanders for wanting to scrap health care and start over saying, “It’s a lot easier to go from 90 to 100 than it is to go from zero to 100.” A video from his speech is below.
Bill then traveled to Springfield, Missouri for a rally at the Teamsters Hall. During his speech, he said that it was great to be back in the Ozarks, where he and Hillary were married in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Bill said that Hillary is the best qualified candidate running for either party, and she will make sure everyone has a change in America. Bill rounded out the day at a Get Out the Vote event in Peoria, Illinois. During his speech, Clinton spoke about Hillary’s plans to boost manufacturing and build on heath care. At one point, Bill was interrupted by a protester. The protester left after shouting above the crowd to which Bill said, “I listened to you, why won’t you stay and listen to me?” He then continued to talk about Hillary’s plans to reduce higher education costs and help those currently paying off student debt.
Chelsea spent the day attending events across the state of Florida as they gear up to vote in the Democratic primary on March 15. She began the day in Tallahassee where she spoke at two separate events. During each of the events, Chelsea spoke about her mom’s record and experience and called the 2016 election “the most important presidential election in my lifetime.” She criticized Republicans for their proposed policies saying, “The racism, the sexism, the Islamophobia, the homophobia, the anti-immigrant rhetoric, the anti-workers rhetoric … it is an almost endless list. And then the policy ideas that flow from that – to build a wall, to expel 11 or 12 million people who are here working hard for lives of dignity and opportunity and promise for themselves and their families, to keep a list of every American Muslim. We need a president to stand up and protect our values.”
Chelsea then attended events in Sarasota and St. Petersburg. At each of the events she, again, spoke about the importance of the 2016 election and how it will have ripple effects on the economy and Supreme Court. She also spoke about Hillary’s plans to build upon the progress of the last eight years and improve heath care, address gun violence, and make a college education more affordable. She said, “Clearly we don’t live in a single issue country and we need a president that understands that as President Obama certainly does.” A video from the St. Petersburg event is available on C-SPAN.
In California, Kwan attended three fundraisers. The first was in San Jose, then Kwan headed to Oakland for an event hosted by Assemblymember Rob Bonta, Sonia Delen, Andy Duong, Dr. Rollington Ferguson, and Zach Wasserman. The final event of the day was a fundraiser in San Francisco. Kwan met with a number of female lawyers at the event hosted by Sara Brody, Lindsay Carlson, Lauri Damrell, Lisa Gilford, Gay Gunfeld, Valerie McGinty, Drucilla Ramey, Ann Patterson.
On Monday, Hillary Clinton was on the campaign trail for the final day before tomorrow’s Super Tuesday primaries. Clinton began her day in Massachusetts attending Get Out the Vote events in Springfield and Boston. Speaking to a crowd of over 700 in Springfield, Clinton focused on jobs and eliminating the benefits companies are receiving for outsourcing jobs to countries overseas. She spoke about a number of other platform points before asking voters to support her in tomorrow’s primary saying, “Massachusetts is right in the middle of it and I need your help. I need your help to go and vote tomorrow and bring people to go with you.” A video of Clinton’s speech is below.
In Boston, Clinton spoke to supporters at the Old South Meeting House. She used her speech to turn her attention to Republicans and how her plans contrast from theirs. Clinton spoke about several platform points including heath care, the economy, and making higher education more affordable, but she also spoke about bipartisanship. She said that while Republicans have failed to compromise, the founders of this country relied on it adding that, “Democracy requires that we play well with others.” A video from her speech will be posted when/if available.
Clinton then attended a Get Out the Vote event in Fairfax, Virginia. During her speech, she turned attention way from the primaries and focused on her strategy against the Republican Party. She criticized Republicans for threatening to take America backwards by re-introducing trickle-down economics, privatizing Social Security, and repealing the Affordable Care Act. Clinton said that the next president needs to build upon what is in place. In addition, she criticized Republicans for rolling back voter rights and standing in the way of women’s rights and LBGT rights saying, “It doesn’t seem like the Republicans respect anybody’s rights except the wealthy and well-connected.” A video from the speech is below.
In Norfolk, Clinton spoke at Lake Taylor Senior High School where she continued to go after Republicans and focused on her platform and plans for the future. She spoke about the importance of foreign policy and working with our Muslim allies to fight ISIS. Clinton said that Trump’s comments play into the hands of ISIS. She said, “It’s not only offensive, it’s dangerous. It matters what you say when you run for president. And it really matters if you are president.” A video from the Norfolk event is below.

On Wednesday afternoon, Hillary Clinton hosted two town hall events in Iowa. The first was in Iowa City, then she held a similar event in Mason City later in the afternoon. Both events featured a brief opening speech from Clinton in which she spoke about the economy, raising the minimum wage, defeating ISIS, supporting Muslim-Americans, and other aspects of her platform. She then answered questions from those in attendance. Between the two events, Clinton answered questions about her support for sexual assault victims, her taste in music, and how she would respond to one attendees’ Donald Trump supporting father. To that, Clinton replied, “I hope you can see I don’t have horns. And I really do hope that as this election goes on you will listen to your daughter.” A video from the Mason City event will be posted when/if available, and the video from the Iowa City town hall is below.
Today, Clinton was scheduled to attend a Hillary Victory Fund fundraiser in New York City with husband Bill Clinton and singer Sting. A second New York fundraiser was also scheduled and hosted by Drew Barrymore, Will Kopelman, and Randy Florke. As with private events, the fundraisers were closed to the press.

At an event held on the campus University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Hillary Clinton outlined her plan to prevent jihadist recruitment and radicalization. Her plan consists of five parts:
Stop ISIS recruitment in the United States, especially online
Prevent would-be jihadists from getting training overseas, and prevent foreign terrorists from coming to the United States
Discover and disrupt terror plots before they can be carried out
Support law enforcement officers
Empower Muslim-American communities to fight radicalization
Clinton also called for a measure that would prevent people on the no-fly list from buying a gun. She said, “They’ll [Republicans] say that guns are a totally separate issue – nothing to do with terrorism. I have news for them. Terrorists use guns to kill Americans, and I think we should make it a lot harder for them to ever do that again.” Today’s proposals are in addition to her plans to defeat ISIS, which she laid out last month. On Thursday, Hillary Clinton called for tougher gun laws following a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California that left 14 people dead and 21 injured. Clinton called for stricter requirements at three separate events in New Hampshire. The first was during a visit to a small business in Nashua, and the second event was the Women’s Economic Opportunity Summit in Manchester, and the final event was a town hall in Dover. She said that the shooting was beginning to look like an act of terrorism, but she is waiting for the investigation. She also cautioned against the growing distrust of Islam saying, “It’s important to remember, the vast majority of Muslim Americans are just as concerned and heartbroken about this as anyone else.” At the events in Manchester and Dover, Clinton took questions from the audience on a wide variety of topics and platform issues. Following her trip to New Hampshire, Clinton headed to Boston, Massachusetts where she attended a private fundraiser hosted by Elaine and Bobby Sager. As with all private fundraisers, the event was closed to the public.
Yesterday, Hillary Clinton returned to Nevada where she began by meeting with victims of substance abuse and toured a facility helping them. After briefly meeting with Democratic officials, she visited a rehabilitation center called Crossroads. The center is a partnership between Washoe County Social Services and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. The center helps those with substance abuse recover. She praised the center saying, “I am so impressed with how you have done this. This facility uses public, private and Catholic services, to be so successful and it’s not only working, it’s so much cheaper than so many other programs. It’s a good model and one I’d like to see more of across the country.”
Clinton then held a rally at E.L. Pine Middle School in Reno. Clinton fired up the crowd by asking voters to not get caught up in Republicans’ fear mongering when it comes to ISIS and terrorism. She criticized the Republican field for turning against the Muslim world, and not focusing on those waging terror. Clinton outlined her plan for the United States and the world to defeat ISIS in a global effort.
