Vice President Joe Biden returned to Florida where he attended two campaign events on behalf of Hillary Clinton and local Democrats. At his first stop in Tampa, Biden spoke about the importance of electing Clinton president and electing Democrats such as Patrick Murphy to the Senate. Biden spoke about a number of issues that Clinton will focus on as president such as creating jobs and growing the economy. He also went after Donald Trump saying, “This guy doesn’t deserve to be president. On his sixth bankruptcy he stiffed more workers than you can count and then on national television in a debate said ‘maybe I didn’t like the quality of the work.’ Well, Trump, maybe I don’t like the quality of what you say.” He urged everyone to get out and vote on November 8th and to take advantage of early voting. Biden then spoke at a rally in Palm Beach Gardens where he characterized Florida as a must win for Clinton. He said, “Here we go again. Florida. It always comes down to Florida. … We get it done here, we can go home to bed early Tuesday.” Speaking on the campus of Palm Beach State College, Biden spoke about the rising cost of college education and Clinton’s plan to make college more affordable for students and ensure that they graduate debt-free. On Friday, President Barack Obama campaigned for Hillary Clinton in Orlando, Florida. Speaking to a crowd of supporters on the campus of the University of Central Florida, Obama spoke about Hillary Clinton a number of her platform points including her plans to create jobs, make college more affordable, and continue working to ensure that Americans have health insurance. He said that while he has make a lot of progress in the last eight year, a lot of work still needs to be done and Clinton is the right person for the job. “All the progress we’ve made goes out the window if we don’t win this election,” Obama said. He urged voters to not only vote for Clinton on election day, but to also support down ballot Democrats such as U.S. Senate candidate Patrick Murphy. A video of the President’s speech is below.
Hillary Clinton spent her birthday campaigning in Florida. Her first event was on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth. During her speech, Clinton spoke about a number of plans including her proposals to grow the economy, create jobs, and make college more affordable. She also went after Republican Donald Trump and his rhetoric during the campaign cycle and for saying he will not accept the results of the election unless he wins. Clinton called this statement “horrifying” and called it an attack on American democracy. She then spoke about the importance of the election not only for the presidential race, but the down ballot races as well. She encouraged voters to send candidate Patrick Murphy to the U.S. Senate and kick out Senator Marco Rubio. Clinton then asked everyone to vote on November 8th or to take advantage of early voting adding, “Ten million people have already voted, and two million of them right here in Florida. Clinton then traveled to Tampa where she urged voters not to become complacent given current polling numbers. “With 13 days left in this election, we cannot stop for a minute. No complacency. Nobody flagging. We’ve got to get everybody out to vote,” she told supporters. Clinton spoke about a number of her platform points including her plans to raise the minimum wage, ensure equal pay for women, and guarantee paid time off for families. Clinton criticized Trump for his campaign rhetoric saying that she thinks that America’s diversity is one of it’s strongest assets. She said, “I am proud to have support from Republicans and independents here across Florida and across America who agree with me that we should reject hate and division. We have seen Donald Trump insult nearly every person in America, and I just find that so intolerable because — look at this diverse crowd, look at Tampa. During her speech, Clinton spoke about her typical platform points including her plans to improve health care, create jobs, and build the middle class, but she had an important message for voters. She urged them to get complacent in the light of recent polls, saying that voting is still two weeks away. On Sunday, Tim Kaine returned to Florida for two days of campaigning. He began on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville. During his speech, Kaine spoke about a number of Hillary Clinton’s key platform points including her plan to reduce interest on student loans and ensure future students graduate from college debt free. Kaine also spoke about her plan to invest in jobs and the economy, but he said that none of it will be matter if they do not get out and vote for her and down ballot Democrats such as U.S. Senate hopeful Patrick Murphy. “We know how important the student vote is. How important the millennial vote is. Let’s face it, this thing is going to be close in Florida. I think you guys should change your name from the Sunshine State to the super close election state,” he said. Watch a video from the event below.
Kaine then traveled to Orlando where he spoke to a crowd of supporters at the Dover Shores Community Center. Kaine spoke about Clinton’s focus on the middle class and raising the minimum wage, creating new jobs by investing in infrastructure and clean energy, and making college more affordable for future students and those currently paying off student loans. Kaine then focused on the importance of the election and defeating Donald Trump. He urged voters to take advantage of early voting, which begins in Florida on Monday. During his speech on the campus of Florida Memorial University, Obama spoke about the importance of electing Hillary Clinton president and Democrats such as Patrick Murphy to the Senate. He spoke about the progress made during his administration and said that the only way to ensure the progress continues is for Democrats to retake Congress and Donald Trump to never get near the White House. He said, “Donald Trump has nothing to offer but anger and grievance and blame. And so his closing argument asks what do you have to lose? Well, I’m here to tell you: everything. Donald Trump wants to reverse progress. Marco Rubio wants to help him. You want to give me a good sendoff? You want to give Michelle a good sendoff? Donald Trump’s Tax Returns: What’s He Hiding?
For 40 years, major party nominees have publicly released their tax returns – a simple and basic disclosure, made to the American people as they determine which candidate is best fit for the presidency. In accordance with this decades-old tradition, Hillary Clinton has made nearly 40 years of tax returns available to the public over the course of her career, dating back to 1977. Unfortunately, Donald Trump refuses to release his tax returns, despite his promise in 2014 that he “absolutely” would release them if he ran for president. Watch Trump promise to release his returns here.
TRUMP: “If I decide to run for office, I’ll produce my tax returns, absolutely, and I would love to do that.”
Of course, Trump changed his mind when he actually became a candidate for president.
TRUMP: “I want to release my tax returns but I can’t release it while I’m under an audit.”
Contradicting his own logic, Trump has released his tax returns while under audit in the past – when the disclosure of his tax returns would benefit his business interests – such as his application for a license to open a casino.
CNN: “Donald Trump insists he won’t release his tax returns during his 2016 presidential run because those returns are the subject of ongoing Internal Revenue Service audits. When he’s had casinos on the line, it’s been a different story.”
Further, Trump has the ability to slow down the audit of his tax returns depending on his rate of response to the IRS – meaning he may be able to make his poor excuse, that his audit prevents his tax return disclosure, last as long as he wants.
