Hillary Clinton will deliver a special 2-minute national closing message tonight in a television ad that lays out the choice in this election and the type of president she wants to be for the entire country. The 2-minute closing message ad is airing to an estimated 20 million people Monday night during the shows with the largest audience available – the Voice (NBC) and Kevin Can Wait (CBS).
In the personal and positive closing message, Clinton makes the case that people are rejecting a campaign “defined by fear and division” and choosing one that is “hopeful and inclusive.” She also lays out a hopeful future for our country saying she’s “convinced our best days are still ahead of us, if we reach for them together” and pledged to “be a President for all Americans. Not just those who support me in this election — for everyone.” And, she makes clear her mission as President will be “To give our kids – and every American — the chance to live up to their God-given potential.”
On Sunday morning, representatives for Hillary for America made the talk show rounds and spoke about the final strategies before Tuesday’s election. Tim Kaine was on CBS’s Face the Nation and John Dickerson and Kaine discussed the affect the FBI investigation has had on the campaign. “We’ve seen it add to the energy on our side. People on our side view this campaign as so important, the ‘Stronger Together’ message as so important and people don’t want it to be distracted. So there has been a great uptick in energy on our side in the early vote,” Kaine said. Watch a video of the full interview below.
John Podesta was interviewed on ABC’s This Week and NBC’s Meet the Press. During each interview, Podesta explained that while he is optimistic, the Clinton campaign is leaving nothing to chance before election. Podesta was also asked about the leaks of information coming out of the FBI and Podesta responded saying, “I think the men and women of the FBI are doing a tremendous job out here across the country. HFA representative Joel Benenson was interviewed on this morning’s episode of Fox News Sunday. Benenson was asked about the FBI investigation into Clinton’s email and the campaign’s strategy for the final days of the campaign. Benenson said that they are “playing offense in every state” and will continue to do so through Monday. Watch a video of the interview below.
On Sunday, Tim Kaine returned to Florida for two days of campaigning. He began on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville. During his speech, Kaine spoke about a number of Hillary Clinton’s key platform points including her plan to reduce interest on student loans and ensure future students graduate from college debt free. Kaine also spoke about her plan to invest in jobs and the economy, but he said that none of it will be matter if they do not get out and vote for her and down ballot Democrats such as U.S. Senate hopeful Patrick Murphy. “We know how important the student vote is. How important the millennial vote is. Let’s face it, this thing is going to be close in Florida. I think you guys should change your name from the Sunshine State to the super close election state,” he said. Watch a video from the event below.
Kaine then traveled to Orlando where he spoke to a crowd of supporters at the Dover Shores Community Center. Kaine spoke about Clinton’s focus on the middle class and raising the minimum wage, creating new jobs by investing in infrastructure and clean energy, and making college more affordable for future students and those currently paying off student loans. Kaine then focused on the importance of the election and defeating Donald Trump. He urged voters to take advantage of early voting, which begins in Florida on Monday. The members of the Mothers of the Movement group spent Monday and Tuesday of this week campaigning on behalf of Hillary Clinton across North Carolina. The group of three mothers, united by the loss of a child due to gun violence, held a series of roundtable discussions and community events in Fayetteville, Durham, Greensboro, and Charlotte. At each event, the group told their stories and discussed a number of points outlined by Clinton including her plans for criminal justice reform and her proposal to reduce gun violence.
The mothers taking part in each event were Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner; Geneva Reed-Veal, the mother of Sandra Bland; and Maria Hamilton, the mother of Dontre Hamilton. Videos from the events will be posted when/if available.
Also on Tuesday, two fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America in Denver, Colorado. Each of the events featured a conversation with Maya Harris, HFA Senior Policy Advisor.
Hillary Clinton appeared on Monday’s episode of NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The segment was filmed last week but aired last nihgt. Fallon and Clinton discussed the campaign and her health among other topics. Fallon then read a series of letters written to Clinton, and, in response to critics saying that Fallon has given Clinton “softball” questions in the past, Fallon gave Clinton a bag containing actual softballs. On Friday, Bill Clinton was in Iowa, where he hosted two Get Out the Caucus events. At both events, one in Fairfield and the other in Muscatine, Bill spoke about Hillary, her experience, and what makes her the best candidate for president. He said that where ever she goes and what ever she does, “she always makes something good happen.” He spoke about Hillary’s plans, specifically for heath care saying that the plan put forward by Bernie Sanders would be too costly. He urged voters caucus for Hillary on Monday. A video from the event in Fairfield is below.
Chelsea Clinton was in Florida for two fundraisers. The first was in Fort Lauderdale and the second was an event hosted by Ed Lally and Phil Dinkins in St. Petersburg. In New Hampshire on Friday, female activist Gloria Steinem and actor Ted Danson met with volunteers and voters leading up to the state’s February 9th primary.

On Monday, Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to Iowa to speak at two college campuses. The first stop was a Women for Hillary event on the campus of University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls where she outlined her plan to combat sexual assault. She focused her attention primarily to the issue of sexual assault on college campuses, but said that it can occur anywhere including in the workplace, at home, and in communities. She said that often, the victim feels alone because of the bureaucratic processes involved in reporting incidents. This is especially true on college campuses. She said, “I want to send a message to every survivor of sexual assault: Don’t let anyone silence your voice. You have the right to be heard. You have the right to be believed, and we’re with you.” Clinton vowed to approach the issue by:
Making it easier for victims to access help
Forcing campuses and the justice system to treat both the accused and victim fairly
Increase awareness programs on college campuses and high schools
Following her speech in Cedar Rapids, she spoke with the press where she answered questions about her plan. Clinton then went to Decorah, where she spoke at an event on the campus of Luther College. Her message was similar to her speech in Cedar Rapids saying that more needed to be done to prevent sexual assault and victims deserved to be heard.

On Monday, Hillary Rodham Clinton unveiled what she is calling the “New College Compact” in which she pledges to make college more affordable for students. She proposes to accomplish this by making more grants and low interest loans available while lowering the cost of education. The plan is estimated to cost $350 billion over 10 years. Speaking at Exeter High School, she said, “College is supposed to help people achieve their dreams, but more and more paying for college actually pushes those dreams further and further out of reach. That is a betrayal of everything college is supposed to represents.”
The plan includes a number of proposals to keep tuition low and the schools invested in their students. One of the proposals is called “skin-in-the-game” where a college is fined for any student who cannot pay off their student loans. She would continue President Barack Obama’s plan to provide free community college, crack down on for-profit institutions, and simplify income-based repayment plans for student loan borrowers. On Tuesday, Clinton remained in New Hampshire and took her college affordability plan to River Valley Community College in Claremont. Clinton discussed the plan she unveiled on Monday, but went further attacking Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker for cutting higher education funding as governor of Wisconsin. She said, “You take somebody like Governor Walker of Wisconsin who seems to be delighted in slashing the investment in higher education in his state. Eliminating the opportunities for young people who are doctors or dentists to actually work in underserved areas in return for having their debts relieved; ending scholarships for poor kids; and most surprisingly to me, rejecting legislation that would have made it tax deductible for you, on your income tax, to deduct the amount of your loan payment.” A video from Clinton’s speech on Tuesday is below:

Clinton attends a private fundraiser in Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania in July
Hillary Rodham Clinton wrapped up the week by attending a breakfast fundraiser this morning in La Jolla, California. The event comes after several yesterday and one on Wednesday night in California. The private fundraiser was held at the home of Qualcomm co-founder Irwin Jacobs and his wife, Joan. Clinton left California for Texas where she met with Democratic lawmakers this afternoon. This evening, Clinton attended a private fundraiser at the McAllen home of powerbroker Alonzo Cantu. All three events were closed to the press.
