Hillary Clinton Meets with Women in Virginia

On Monday, Hillary Clinton spoke with a group of women in Stone Ridge, Virginia where the focus of the conversation was managing work-life balance. Clinton spoke about her plans for paid family leave, equal pay for women, and childcare. She said that raising a family and having a career is harder today than it was when Chelsea was a kid. “Costs are greater, everything from commuting time to feeling like if you take that vacation day, you are going to be viewed as slacking off,” she said. Clinton went on to say that she knew that her proposals would change the current system, but it is important to realize that times have changed. She said, “We need to really start looking at these programs from the lens of what life is like today and not what it was like 50 years ago.” A video from the event is below.

During the event in Virginia, Clinton was asked a number of questions about the presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. She has refused to directly respond to any of his comments, and she stuck with tone today saying that she was focused on the issues. She said, “I’m going to let him run his campaign however he chooses. I’m going to run my campaign, which is about a positive vision for our country with specific plans that I think will help us solve problems that we’re facing.” She continued, “I’m answering him all the time. I’m answering him on what I think voters care about. I’m answering him on the differences between our records, our experience, what we want to do for our country, how important it is to try to unify the country.”

In Washington, DC, Hillary for America hosted a conversation on Social and Economic Justice. Those speaking at the event included former United States Attorney General and HFA Senior Policy Advisor Maya Harris.

Hillary Clinton Interviewed by Anderson Cooper

On Wednesday, following her loss in Indiana and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump now being the presumptive nominee, Hillary Clinton sat down for an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. During the interview, Cooper asked Clinton about the Democratic race and whether she thought it was over. She said that in 2008 she fought until June, and she expects Bernie Sanders to do the same. Cooper also asked if she was ready to take on Trump in the general election to which she replied with a resounding yes. She spoke about Trump saying, “I don’t think we can take a risk on a loose cannon like Donald Trump running our country. I do think he is a loose cannon, and loose cannons tend to misfire.” A full video from the interview is below.

Today, Clinton also attended a “Break Down Barriers” conversation in Washington, DC hosted by Women for Hillary. The event featured a number of panelists including Eva Longoria, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Ilyse Hogue, and Maya Harris. The event was moderated by Cheryl Mills.

Bill Clinton Campaigns in Harlem, Queens

On Sunday, Bill Clinton campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton in Harlem and Queens. He began in Harlem this morning where he attended Sunday services at three churches. The three churches that he spoke at were: Abyssinian Baptist Church, Antioch Baptist Church, and Mount Neboh Baptist Church. At each church, Bill was introduced by Rep. Charles Rangel, and she spoke about Hillary’s plans to increase minimum wage and opportunities for everyone across the country.

Bill then spoke at an organizing events at the New York Hall of Science in Queens and the John John Jay College in New York City. At both events, he spoke about Hillary’s plans to increase incomes and continue building on the economy so everyone can prosper. He also spoke about criminal justice reform and referenced the death of Eric Garner. Garner was selling cigarettes in New York City and died when he was put in a choke hold by police. Bill said, “I say that because they may not have intended to kill that man—they violated procedural rules with a chokehold with a very heavy guy. People do stuff like that when they’re scared, when they’re alienated, when they feel like there’s this vast divide—and we have to get rid of that.” Videos from today’s events will be added when/if available.

A number of fundraisers were held today on behalf of Hillary for America. In Washington, DC, Campaign Chair John Podesta attended an event that included Senior Policy Advisor Maya Harris. The event was hosted by Maddy Beckwith, Ezekiel Emanuel, Terry Lierman, Tony Podesta, Chris Putala, and Oscar Ramirez. A fundraiser was also held in Villanova, Pennsylvania. The event included a conversation with Valerie Plame and was hosted by Stella M. Tsai and Jannie K. Lau. The final event was a virtual conversation with Foreign Policy Advisor Laura Rosenberger for American citizens living in São Paulo, Brazil.

Chelsea Clinton and Others Host Hillary for America Fundraisers

On Thursday, Chelsea Clinton was in New York City for a breakfast fundraiser hosted by Liz Robbins and Tim Gunn. Meanwhile, Hillary for America began a series of policy based fundraisers with the first two in the series being held yesterday. In Chicago, the policy based fundraiser was hosed by Anna Valencia and Jon Samuels. Hillary for America’s Senior Policy Advisor Maya Harris was the guest speaker. In the evening, an event was held in Washington, DC featuring Hillary for America General Counsel Marc Elias. As with all private events, the fundraisers were closed to the press.
