Clinton Wins 8 of 12 Super Tuesday States

Polls are now closing across the Super Tuesday states, and results are beginning to come in from the Democratic race between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. In the, Clinton won 8 primaries to Sanders’ 4. The chart of which states were won by Clinton and Sanders is below. In Miami, Florida, Clinton delivered a victory speech with supporters at a Super Tuesday rally. During her speech, she congratulated Sanders for his strong showing, then she thanked all her supporters and volunteers who helped make her victories possible. She focused on the future and the road to nomination before taking a shot at Republican front-runner Donald Trump saying, “We know we’ve got work to do.  It’s not to make America great again—America never stopped being great. Hillary Campaigns in MA, VA on Eve of Super Tuesday

On Monday, Hillary Clinton was on the campaign trail for the final day before tomorrow’s Super Tuesday primaries. Clinton began her day in Massachusetts attending Get Out the Vote events in Springfield and Boston. Speaking to a crowd of over 700 in Springfield, Clinton focused on jobs and eliminating the benefits companies are receiving for outsourcing jobs to countries overseas. She spoke about a number of other platform points before asking voters to support her in tomorrow’s primary saying, “Massachusetts is right in the middle of it and I need your help. I need your help to go and vote tomorrow and bring people to go with you.” A video of Clinton’s speech is below.

In Boston, Clinton spoke to supporters at the Old South Meeting House. She used her speech to turn her attention to Republicans and how her plans contrast from theirs. Clinton spoke about several platform points including heath care, the economy, and making higher education more affordable, but she also spoke about bipartisanship. She said that while Republicans have failed to compromise, the founders of this country relied on it adding that, “Democracy requires that we play well with others.” A video from her speech will be posted when/if available.

Clinton then attended a Get Out the Vote event in Fairfax, Virginia. During her speech, she turned attention way from the primaries and focused on her strategy against the Republican Party. She criticized Republicans for threatening to take America backwards by re-introducing trickle-down economics, privatizing Social Security, and repealing the Affordable Care Act. Clinton said that the next president needs to build upon what is in place. In addition, she criticized Republicans for rolling back voter rights and standing in the way of women’s rights and LBGT rights saying, “It doesn’t seem like the Republicans respect anybody’s rights except the wealthy and well-connected.” A video from the speech is below.

In Norfolk, Clinton spoke at Lake Taylor Senior High School where she continued to go after Republicans and focused on her platform and plans for the future. She spoke about the importance of foreign policy and working with our Muslim allies to fight ISIS. Clinton said that Trump’s comments play into the hands of ISIS. She said, “It’s not only offensive, it’s dangerous. It matters what you say when you run for president. And it really matters if you are president.” A video from the Norfolk event is below.

Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Tennessee and Arkansas

On Sunday, Hillary Clinton attended events in two of Super Tuesday’s primary states: Tennessee and Arkansas. She began by attending church service at Greater Imani Cathedral of Faith in Memphis. She told the congregation that she believed America is still great, but work needs to be done to “make it whole again.” Clinton then attended services at the Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church where she expressed her confidence in the future saying, “I am very confident, not just hopeful, I am confident that if we start working together again, if we remembered we are the United States of America, if we reject the demagoguery, the prejudice, the paranoia, the mean spiritedness we hear in our public political discourse … America’s best days can still be ahead of us.”

In Nashville, Clinton gave a platform focused stump speech before the state’s primary on Tuesday. She focused on the differences between her and her Democratic rival, Bernie Sanders, although she never mentioned him by name. She spoke about her plans to make higher education more affordable, improve heath care (and not scrap the current system), and reform the criminal justice system. She also called for a simpler way for small businesses to get government assistance as well an increase in the minimum wage. Clinton wrapped up the day at a Get Out the Vote event in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Speaking at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Clinton spoke about her plans to assist students pay for college saying, “we’ve got to get college affordable again.” She criticized Sanders’ free education for all plan saying that a tiered plan made more sense. She reasoned, “I don’t think you should have to pay to send Donald Trump’s kids to school.” Clinton also spoke about a number of other issues including health care and the economy. Bill, Chelsea Campaign in SC

On the eve of the South Carolina primary, Bill and Chelsea Clinton were in the state supporting Hillary Clinton. Bill gave speeches at two Get Out the Vote events. At each event, in Aiken and Bluffton, Bill spoke about Hillary’s experience and background. He also focused on her plans for the future including her proposed updates to heath care and equal pay for women. He said, “She’s for equal pay and paid leave because only seven countries of the world, that don’t grant any paid leave. Every man in America should be for equal pay, because when you put more women in the workforce and the economy grows and you have more money.” He urged those in attendance to vote in tomorrow’s primary and support Hillary.

Meanwhile, in Charleston, Chelsea visited with patience and families at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital. She then went to Columbia where she met with local volunteers at a phone bank, then held a town hall event and a Get Out the Vote event. Chelsea spoke about her mother’s platform and stressed the importance of the 2016 race, and she asked voters to support Hillary in tomorrow’s primary.

A fundraiser in support of Hillary for America was also held today in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The fundraiser was hosted by Jim McGovern, John Mahoney, Mike Moore, Candy Mero Carlson, Gerry D’Amico, Kate Donaghue, Jamie Hoag, Steve Kerrigan, Kim Long, and Jason Palitsch. Speaking at the event was former Massachusetts Representative, Barney Frank.

Clintons on Friday Campaign Trail

On Friday, Bill and Hillary Clinton were on the campaign trail and attended events in three different states. Hillary began by attending a fundraiser event in Boston, Massachusetts hosted by Jeanne and Jonathan Lavine. Then, Hillary attended two events in New Hampshire where she was joined by three Senators: Minnesota’s Amy Klobuchar, Michigan’s Debbie Stabenow and New Hampshire’s Jeanne Shaheen. The group also included Lily Ledbetter and Emily’s List president Stephanie Schriock. The six women called themselves the “sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits” and attended events in Nashua and Manchester where they rallied women voters. They each took time to speak to voters, asking for their support in next week’s primary.

In the evening, Hillary attended the McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner where thousands of Democrats packed Verizon Wireless Arena. Bernie Sanders and Hillary both attended the event and spoke to the crowd. Clinton said, “I’m going to compete for every vote here. I’ll answer every question. I’ll work my heart out to earn your support.” The event is important because while Hillary trails Sanders in the polls, nearly one third of those surveyed are still undecided. Meanwhile, Bill was in Las Vegas, Nevada holding a grassroots organizing event. Speaking at the United Brotherhood of Carpenters International Training Center, Bill urged voters of all ages to support Hillary. He framed her a change maker and touted her decades of experience. Bill criticized Sanders’ heath care plan and how starting over with heath care is just not an option. He then turned his attention to millennials, who are Sanders biggest supporters. He sympathized with their anger with the status quo, and said, “I get it — a lot of people are mad. When you’ve lived long enough and you’ve got more yesterdays than tomorrows … what you want is for every single American to be able to walk into a future where you can make your own choices, dream your own dreams and live the future you want.” A video from the event is below.

Chelsea Clinton to Hit the Campaign Trail this Week

This week, a new face will appear on the campaign trail on behalf Hillary Clinton. Chelsea Clinton will begin attending fundraisers and hosting public events in support of her mother and Hillary for America. Today, she took part in two fundraisers in Boston, Massachusetts. The first was a cocktail event and the second was a fundraiser hosted by Bryan Rafanelli and Mary Breslauer.

Clinton Repeats Call for Tougher Gun Measures

On Thursday, Hillary Clinton called for tougher gun laws following a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California that left 14 people dead and 21 injured. Clinton called for stricter requirements at three separate events in New Hampshire. The first was during a visit to a small business in Nashua, and the second event was the Women’s Economic Opportunity Summit in Manchester, and the final event was a town hall in Dover. She said that the shooting was beginning to look like an act of terrorism, but she is waiting for the investigation. She also cautioned against the growing distrust of Islam saying, “It’s important to remember, the vast majority of Muslim Americans are just as concerned and heartbroken about this as anyone else.” At the events in Manchester and Dover, Clinton took questions from the audience on a wide variety of topics and platform issues. Following her trip to New Hampshire, Clinton headed to Boston, Massachusetts where she attended a private fundraiser hosted by Elaine and Bobby Sager. As with all private fundraisers, the event was closed to the public.

Clinton Begins Outlining Infrastructure Plans

UPDATE (11/30): A full outline of Clinton’s infrastructure plan is now available on The Briefing.

At a rally held today in Boston’s Faneuil Hall, Hillary Clinton returned to campaign trail by beginning to outline her plan to improve the country’s infrastructure. Her proposal calls for a $275 million boost in in federal spending over a period of five years. She is also calling for the creation of a national infrastructure bank. Clinton also called for $225 billion in direct loans and other forms of credit. The funding would come from a mixture of public and private money, including the expansion of the Build American Bonds program. She said, “Investing in infrastructure makes our economy more productive and competitive across the board. To build a strong economy for our future, we must start by building strong infrastructure today.”

Clinton was joined at the event by Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, who endorsed her campaign. Clinton and Walsh were joined by members of a number of labor unions who have pledged to support campaign. In addition to outlining her infrastructure plan, she outlined the other aspects of her platform. Over the next several weeks, Clinton will continue to unveil her broad economic and jobs plans. Clinton Attends Events in Massachusetts

Hillary Rodham Clinton attended a number of events across Massachusetts today. She began by attending a private fundraiser at the home of Linda Mason and Roger Brown in Belmont. Following the event, Clinton went to Boston where she hosted a substance abuse community forum. She has held a number of round table discussions in the Northeast to discuss drug abuse and has used the information to form her drug policy platform. She has stressed that substance abuse should be treated as a disease. Clinton said, “If you have heart disease, cancer, diabetes, you can find a place and you should be able to find a place, and I want substance abuse put on the same level. It saves people’s lives. There’s nothing more important. Save somebody’s life. Give somebody a second chance.”

This evening, Clinton attended a private fundraiser hosted by Boston for Hillary. The press was not in attendance for the private events, but if/when a video from the round table discussion is available, it will be posted.

Clinton Attends Two More Private Fundraisers

Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended two private fundraisers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The first took place in Newton, Massachusetts at the home of Margot and Jonathan Davis. The second fundraiser was held at the home of Mark Weiner in East Greenwich, Rhode Island with former Providence Mayor Joseph Paolino in attendance.
