Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Pittsburgh

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton attended a rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During her speech, Clinton ripped into Republican Donald Trump for his speech yesterday in response to the deadly attack in Orlando, Florida. She criticized his divisive language and renewed proposal of banning all Muslims from entering the United States. She also spoke about the importance of regulating the sales of guns saying, “We need to lift up voices of moderation and tolerance. I believe we Americans are capable of both protecting our Second Amendment rights while making sure guns don’t fall into the wrong hands. The terrorist in Orlando was the definition of the wrong hands. And weapons of war have no place in our streets.” Clinton called for the country to come together and politicians to work together, across party lines, to ensure that an attack of this nature is not possible in the future. In Portland, Maine, a fundraiser was held on behalf of Hillary for America. Former Congressman Barney Frank and Mary Bonauto spoke at the event that was hosted at Coffey by Design.

Chelsea Clinton Among those Fundraising for Hillary

Following Hillary Clinton’s primary wins on Tuesday, Hillary for America has been fundraising. On Wednesday, two fundraisers were held in support of Hillary For America. The first was in Maine and hosted by the Maine for Hillary Finance Committee. The evening featured a conversation with Senator George Mitchell. The second event was in Washington, DC and hosted by Senior Policy advisor Jake Sullivan and Campaign Vice Chair Huma Abedin. Those attending got the opportunity to visit with the cast from ABC’s Scandal. The actors attending included Guillermo Diaz, Tony Goldwyn, Katie Lowes, Jeff Perry, and Bellamy Young.

Today, Chelsea Clinton was in Washington, DC where she attended an afternoon fundraiser. In New York City, Campaign Chair John Podesta attended an event hosted by Ambassador Gabriel Guerra-Mondragón. The event featured Chef Marianna Morrison. Senior Policy Advisor Ann O’Leary attended a fundraiser in San Francisco, California that was hosted by Janni Lehrer-Stein and Kath Delaney. The event included a performance by Mezzo-Soprano Laurie Rubin and pianist Jenny Taira. The final fundraiser was held at the The Theater at The Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The event was hosted by Tracey Baird, Jamie Babbit, Page Hurwitz, Krysia Plonka, Liz Patrick, Jamila Hunter, Karey Dornetto, Maggie Malina and David Tischman, Christy Spitzer, Wanda Sykes, Kassie Thornton, Cheryl Holliday, Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Sue Murphy. Those attending the event included Cristela Alonzo, Maria Bamford, Michelle Buteau, Fortune Feimster, Retta, Tig Notaro, Natasha Leggero, Kate Walsh and Cybill Shepherd.

Clinton Trails Sanders in Maine Caucus

On Sunday, Maine’s Democratic voters caucused and Bernie Sanders won the contest, defeating Hillary Clinton by a margin of nearly thirty points (64.3% to 35.5%). Clinton will still receive a portion of Maine’s delegates allowing her to maintain her lead in the delegate count. The next round of primaries is on Tuesday when Michigan and Mississippi head to the polls.

Democrats Across the Country Campaign for Hillary

On Monday, while Hillary Clinton was in Iowa, a number of high profile Democrats and celebrities attended a number events in support of Hillary for America. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has been visiting with voters and volunteers in Iowa for the last few days, holding events in Council Bluffs, Ames, and Newton. Curtis has been a long time support of Hillary and talked about her experience and readiness to lead.

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro attended two events yesterday on behalf of Hillary and Hillary for America. The first was a fundraiser hosted by Tony Buxton, Bonnie Porta, and Karen Harris in Portland, Maine. The second event was a gathering at the Puerto Vallarta Mexican Grill in Manchester, New Hampshire. Meanwhile in New Jersey, Senator Cory Booker and Victor Herlinsky hosted a fundraiser in Newark.

Bill and Chelsea were also on the campaign trail yesterday, attending events in California. Bill was scheduled to attend events in Hillsborough and San Francisco. Chelsea attended two fundraisers, with the first being hosted at the Newport Coast home of Michael and Sholeh Chegini. The second fundraiser was held at the Los Angeles office of Frank Gehry.

Clinton Stops in Portland, Maine

On Friday, Hillary Rodham Clinton made a campaign stop in Portland, Maine. Speaking at an event at King Middle School, Clinton spoke about a wide variety of topics, and she attacked Republicans for calling for failed policies of the past. She also spoke about investing in green energy and choosing Supreme Court justices. Yesterday in New Hampshire, Clinton spoke at length about her plans to help those suffering from addiction. She, again, addressed the issue because heroin is an issue in the northeast. She said, “I did not think I’d be talking about substance abuse in my presidential campaign until I started campaigning. Everywhere I go, people ask me, ‘what are you going to do about the heroin epidemic?’” A full video of the event is below.

Clinton Back in New Hampshire – Day 1

Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton kicked off a 3-day visit to New Hampshire with stops in Nashua and Laconia. Her first stop in Nashua focused on substance abuse. In a Town Hall event, Clinton discussed her $10 million plan to address drug and alcohol abuse at the community level. She unveiled the initiative a few weeks ago. She expressed her surprise about how many people have talked to her about their struggles with substance abuse and how drugs has affected their community. She also answered a number of questions from those in attendance.

Clinton’s second stop was in Laconia at the Boys and Girls Club. The community event also focused on substance abuse and her plans to combat it. She stressed the importance of understanding the treatment of those affected saying, “This is a disease. This is a chronic condition that has to be interrupted and treated and prevented if possible. Left untended, it’s only going to get worse. The numbers are only going to get higher.” A video from Clinton’s speech in Laconia is below.

Tomorrow, Clinton is scheduled to make two appearances in New Hampshire and one in Maine. At an event at the University of New Hampshire, she is expected to receive the endorsement of New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan. Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke at a rally for Maine Gubernatorial Candidate Mike Michaud. Clinton blamed current Governor Paul LePage for the “mess” in which Maine currently finds itself. She said, “You don’t need a lot of yelling, you don’t need to insult people. You need to bring them together and listen to each other. That’s Mike’s way.”
