Hillary Clinton Campaigns for an Extra Day in California

On Friday, Hillary Clinton spent an extra day in California. The event she attended was a discussion with community leaders in Oakland. Meeting at a local restaurant called Home of Chicken and Waffles, Clinton and a group of local officials and business owners discussed what the federal government can do to help local governments. Describing the purpose of the meeting she said, “I want to know how the federal government and me, particularly, can be a better partner. I want to be a champion for Oakland and all the other Oaklands in the country.” The group discussed a number of topics from wages, jobs, urban policy, and urban renewal. She admitted that there aren’t easy answers for every problem at the local level, but decisions made at the local level are very important. The panel consisted of Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan, Oakland Unified School District Superintendent Antwan Wilson, Regina Jackson, CEO of the East Oakland Youth Development Center, and Derreck Johnson, owner of the Home of Chicken and Waffles.

Clinton Announces Plans for Coal Communities

On Thursday, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign unveiled plans to assist communities whose economies rely on coal as the infrastructure shifts to renewable energy. In her plan, Clinton calls for $30 billion in funding for communities who are suffering from the decrease in coal consumption. Clinton’s plan is detailed on The Briefing, but an outline of the plan is below.

  • Safeguard funding for local schools

Overall, Clinton’s plan for coal communities is just one part of her comprehensive energy and climate platform. The other areas of the plan include:

Clinton Interviewed by Local News Stations

Following the first Democratic Debate, Hillary Rodham Clinton on Wednesday was interviewed via satellite by a number of local news stations across the country. Most of the interviews are brief and not available in full online. However, we were able to locate clips from all of the interviews but one. Clinton was interviewed by stations in:

Clinton Appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared on an episode of Ellen DeGeneres Show. The episode was taped on Tuesday, but Clinton talked about a variety of topics including her granddaughter, a possible presidential run by Kanye West in 2020, her opponents, and her age. Clinton also danced during a commercial break!

Hillary For America Updates Website

Hillary for America has updated its website with two new pages. The first is the addition of an Events page where you can search for Hillary for America organization events in your area. You can search by state, city, or zip code to locate events near you. The Events page is a great way to keep in touch with local Clinton supporters and track events in your hometown.

The second addition to the site is a page called The Briefing. As John Podesta wrote in a memo, The Briefing was created to debunk information presented by Republicans and others opposing Clinton. First up is Peter Schweizer’s book, Clinton Cash. The book is advertised as the inside story of foreign donations made to the Clinton Foundation during Clinton’s time as Secretary of State. Many of the allegations have been disproven, but the campaign has vowed to take the claims head-on. You can sign up to receive email updates from The Briefing and can follow its Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages for all the latest. The first on the site was from Clinton’s press secretary, Brian Fallon. The video is also available below.
