State Department Releases New Clinton Email

Last week, the State Department announced that of the 15,000 emails found on Hillary Clinton’s email server turned over to the department by the FBI, 30 were related to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya. This past week, the State Department said that of the 30 emails, only three had been previously unreleased. The one new email is dated January 23, 2013 and is from Ambassador to Brazil Tom Shannon to Clinton’s aide Cheryl Mills complimenting Clinton on her handling of her testimony on Capitol Hill. Mills then forwarded the email to Clinton. The other two emails are forwarded copies of two previously released emails. A copy of the emails is embedded below, and a PDF copy can be downloaded HERE.

State Department Releases Final Batch of Clinton’s Emails

Today, the State Department released the final batch of emails from Hillary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State. While the State Department had planned to release all of the emails by January 29, they were granted an extension. The final batch of emails released today contained 3,800 pages, bringing the total up to over 52,000 pages. Of the emails turned over by Clinton, 2,100 were withheld for containing information that is now deemed classified. During the announcement today, the State Department also said that none of the emails Clinton sent or received on her private server were marked as classified at the time they were sent. This is something that has repeatedly asserted.

On several occasion, Clinton has said that she wants the emails available to the public in the interest of transparency. News organizations will release quotes from a few of her emails, but anyone can access all of Clinton’s emails. Since the release of the emails is part of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), all the emails are being posted to the State Department’s FOIA website. To access the emails, follow the steps below:

1. Go to http://foia.state.gov/Search
2. Type “F-2014-20439” in the Case Number field
3. Click on the arrow next to the “Posted Date” column header and select “Sort Descending” so that the recently released documents show first
4. Click the title of the document in the “Subject” field to open a PDF copy

Tonight: Democratic Debate from Charleston

Tonight, the three Democratic candidates will appear on stage for their fourth primary debate. The debate will be on NBC and will be moderated by Lester Holt. Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O’Malley will face off for the final time before voters begin going to the polls in early February. The debate will be on NBC beginning at 9pm ET. Clinton Kicks Off New Year in New Hampshire

Today, Hillary Clinton returned to the campaign trail hosting three town hall events across New Hampshire. At the first, held in Derry at Gilbert R. Hood Middle School, Clinton gave a speech before opening the floor to questions from those in attendance. She took a number of questions from children and answered questions about a variety of topics. She also responded to a heckler in the crowd by vowing not to call on her to ask a question. A portion of the Derry town hall can be viewed on MSNBC. A full video will be posted when/if available.

The second event was held in Concord at the local high school mirrored the first event in that she opened with a stump speech, then answered questions. Clinton was asked questions about gun control, climate change, social security, and the books she has read recently. The final town hall of the day was held at Keene High School where she was asked about care for the mentally ill, the heroin epidemic in the state, and how she would handle the big banks. Next Batch of Clinton Emails Released

Today, the State Department released another batch of emails from Hillary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State. Clinton has said on several occasions that she wants the emails available to the public in the interest of transparency. News organizations release quotes from a few of her emails, but anyone can access the latest emails. Since the release of the emails is part of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), all the emails are being posted to the State Department’s FOIA website. To access the emails that have been released so far, follow the steps below:

This batch of emails includes approximately 5,500 pages, which falls short of the 8,000 page monthly requirement. The State Department said that additional pages will be released next week. According to an FOIA court order, the entire collection of Clinton’s emails should be released by January 29, 2016. First Democratic Debate Tomorrow on CNN

CNN has released full details of tomorrow night’s Democratic debate from Las Vegas, Nevada which will feature Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb, and Lincoln Chafee. Vice President Joe Biden, who has not formally announced his candidacy, was invited to participate, but will not. The debate will be moderated by Anderson Cooper with Dana Bash and Juan Carlos Lopez also asking questions. Coverage begins at 8:30 PM ET on CNN and on CNN.com (we will post a link to the live stream before the debate begins). You can submit questions for the moderators to ask the candidates on Facebook and Instagram.

This is the first of six debates between the Democratic candidates. The other five debates are scheduled for:

• November 14, 2015 – Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa (CBS)
• December 19, 2015 – Manchester, New Hampshire (ABC)
• January 17, 2016 – Charleston, South Carolina (NBC)
• February/March 2016 – Miami, Florida (Univision)

Democratic Primary Debate Schedule Announced

Democratic Debate in Iowa on December 13, 2007

On Thursday, the Democratic National Committee and CNN announced that the first of six Democratic party debates will be held on October 13. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Lincoln Chafee, Jim Webb, and Marin O’Malley are expected to take part.

There five other debates are outlined below:

• November 14: CBS, KCCI, and The Des Moines Register in Iowa
• December 19: ABC and WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire
• January 17: NBC and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute in Charleston, South Carolina
• February or March: Univision and The Washington Post in Miami, Florida
• February or March: PBS in Wisconsin.
