Clinton announces her Gun Control proposes in New Hampshire on October 5, 2015.Since launching her campaign in April, Hillary Clinton has given a number of platform setting speeches across the country. When she has introduced a major platform topic, we add it to the Platform category of the website. Looking through Clinton’s speeches and policy proposals, a clear plan emerges. From Clinton’s kickoff rally in June through her middle-class tax proposals announced last week, a list of Clinton’s platform speech topics and announcement dates are below:
Clinton’s platform displays her breadth of knowledge on both domestic and foreign policy issues. While the Republicans continue to bicker among the crowd, Clinton continues to lay out her plans to help everyday Americans, keep our country safe, and maintain our status as a leader in the world.
On Tuesday, Hillary Rodham Clinton held a rally at Boulder Theater in Boudler, Colorado where she largely focused on domestic policy issues. After being joined on stage by Senator Mark Udall, she outlined a number of important points to her platform including: renewable energy, gun control, and whether the United States should accept Syrian refugees. Clinton then traveled to Denver where she held another rally at Manual High School. In a speech similar to the one in Boudler, her message was, again, focused on domestic policies. In particular she highlighted gender inequality and equal pay saying, “If standing up for equal pay for equal work is dealing the gender card, then deal me in.” A video from the Denver rally will be posted when/if available.
While in Colorado, Clinton attended a private fundraiser hosted by Jennifer and Mo Siegel. As with all private events, the fundraiser was closed to the press.

Yesterday, Hillary Clinton returned to Nevada where she began by meeting with victims of substance abuse and toured a facility helping them. After briefly meeting with Democratic officials, she visited a rehabilitation center called Crossroads. The center is a partnership between Washoe County Social Services and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. The center helps those with substance abuse recover. She praised the center saying, “I am so impressed with how you have done this. This facility uses public, private and Catholic services, to be so successful and it’s not only working, it’s so much cheaper than so many other programs. It’s a good model and one I’d like to see more of across the country.”
Clinton then held a rally at E.L. Pine Middle School in Reno. Clinton fired up the crowd by asking voters to not get caught up in Republicans’ fear mongering when it comes to ISIS and terrorism. She criticized the Republican field for turning against the Muslim world, and not focusing on those waging terror. Clinton outlined her plan for the United States and the world to defeat ISIS in a global effort. On Thursday morning, Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared on “Live! with Kelly and Michael” where she was interviewed by hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan. The three of them spoke about the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and ISIS threatening New York City. Clinton was asked if their threats should be taken seriously, and she said, “I think you always have to take them seriously. One thing that you just have to accept is that when they make threats, they may be some distance from being able to deliver on those threats themselves, but they’re hoping that some discontented person or group right here in our country will hear that threat.”
Clinton was also asked about her thoughts on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, how she was a part of husband and former president Bill Clinton’s administration, and what Clinton’s Thanksgiving plans were. Clips from today’s episode are below.
In the afternoon, Clinton attended a private fundraiser in New York City. Details are not available as the press does not attend private fundraisers.
Clinton also attended the DOC NYC Festival where she introduced the closing film, “MAKERS: Once and For All.” The documentary was produced by AOL and directed by Michael Epstein and Dyllan McGee. The films title is from Clinton’s Bejing speech in 1995, which the films celebrates the 20th anniversary of. Clinton was impressed with the film saying, “I have to say that when Dyllan took on this project, I had no idea what she would find. You will see footage in this film that no one’s ever seen—and I don’t know where she got it.” A trailer for the documentary is below.

On Thursday, Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined her plans to defeat ISIS and combat global terrorism. Clinton outlined her plan in a speech during an event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations (above), she made it clear that the United States would not back down or allow fear to soften our resolve. She called for the United States to increase its air strikes against ISIS. Following the attacks in Paris and the bombing of a Russian airliner, both of which ISIS has claimed responsibility, the Russian and French militaries have both increased air strikes. In addition to increased air strikes, she called for US Special Forces to train regional forces. Clinton also called for pressuring the governments of Iraq and Turkey to set aside their differences and unite in the fight against ISIS. Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended a grassroots organizing event at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas. Speaking to an energetic crowd for about half an hour, Clinton spoke about her platform and plans if elected president. She began by addressing the recent terrorist attacks in Paris saying how important the president’s role is as commander-in-chief. Clinton also addressed the concern over the United States allowing Syrian refugees to flee to the United States. She said, “Of course we have to have a lot of vigilance and we have to vet people. But we can’t act as though we’re shutting the doors to people in need without undermining who we are as Americans.”
She also took the opportunity to attack Bernie Sanders’ single payer health care system while, at the same time, criticizing Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott for not expanding Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. She said, “I don’t know about you, but I’d be a little concerned about turning it over to Greg Abbott. He won’t even expand Medicaid to help working people.” Clinton has criticized Sanders’ plan because it would lead to a tax increase for working and middle-class families. Before attending the event, Clinton attended a private fundraiser at the Dallas area hosted by Regina Montoya and Paul Coggins. Montoya is the senior vice-president of Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, and Coggins is the former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

Tonight, Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O’Malley took the stage for the second debate of the Democratic primary. The debate took place at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and was moderated by CBS News and local Des Moines affiliates. The debate began with a moment of silence honoring those killed in yesterday’s terrorist attacks in Paris. Then, the candidates jumped in answering questions about foreign policy, particularly the handling of ISIS, and domestic policies. Overall, the candidates agreed with each other on many issues, but there were some contentious issues including Clinton’s support of the Iraq War, her campaign donations from Wall Street, and Sanders’ weakness with gun control.
The debate was largely civil and focused on the issues. Each of the candidates took turn attacking the Republicans’ plans and their controversial stance on several important issues including climate change, Planned Parenthood, and immigration. The two-hour debate ended with closing statements, in which Clinton wrapped up by saying, “I’ve heard a lot about me in this debate, and ultimately, I’m going to keep talking about you.”

On Friday, Hillary Rodham Clinton was back in New Hampshire for two events. The first was a town hall on the campus of Keene State College. A long topic of conversation during the 80 minute event was gun control. Clinton answered several questions about her plans and the difference between her and her rivals. In addition, Clinton was also asked about her opposition to the Glass-Steagall Act, her views on LGBT discrimination, and other aspects of her platform. Clinton then went to a grass roots even in Nashua where she spoke a number of her key plans, but she focused on Afghanistan and President Barack Obama’s plans to extend US presence. That means that his successor will have to address what to do with troop levels in Afghanistan. She did not provide any specific plans for Afghanistan at this point, but she said, “We have invested a lot of blood and a lot of treasure in trying to help that country and we can’t afford for it to become an outpost of the Taliban and ISIS one more time, threatening us, threatening the larger world.”

Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared at a conference sponsored by the think tank Canada 2020. The focus of her speech was largely on foreign issues, particularly the terrorist groups Boko Haram and ISIL. Clinton expressed her concern over ISIL and its growing influence saying, “I think the evidence is convincing, at least to me, that this is a group that will try to pick up where Al Qaeda in Afghanistan left off. What we were able to do, at great cost, to ferret out and decapitate the leadership of Al Qaeda, severely undermined their capacity as an organization.” Clinton expressed her support for military action to stop the group from expanding its territory and spreading its tactics.
