Hillary Clinton Interviewed by the USA Today

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton was interviewed by the USA Today. During the interview, Clinton laid her reasoning for calling Republican Donald Trump “temperamentally unfit” to be president. She spoke about Trump’s “incoherent” economic plans that would benefit those making the most money. Clinton also went after Trump’s response to the shooting in Orlando, Florida and the conspiracy theories he has started following his speeches. She said, “Now he is accusing our president of somehow encouraging terrorists and it is really offensive, even pathetic. And I do wonder how Republican leaders like House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell can stay silent while their presumptive party nominee suggests that the President of the United States supports terrorists.” Read more of the interview HERE.

Today, two fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was in Boston, Massachusetts and featured a conversation with Allida Black. The event was hosted by Martha Coakley, Ron Goodman, and Tracy Roosevelt. The second event was in Washington, DC and was a LGBT and Allies for Hillary Pride Celebration. The event featured Campaign Manager Robby Mook, Congressman Mark Takano, and members of the LGBT caucus.

Bill Clinton Campaigns in South Carolina, Chelsea in Minnesota

While Hillary Clinton is focused on the New Hampshire Primary, former president Bill Clinton was in South Carolina today to meet with voters before the state’s February 27th primary. Bill spoke to a crowd of over 800 at Allen University, a traditionally African American school. He spoke about Hillary’s credentials and experience and why she is the best choice for president. He said, “As I have grown older — and hopefully a little wiser — I try to spend a little more time explaining things to people and a little less time trying to convert the already converted.” A video from the event will be posted when/if available.

Chelsea Clinton was in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a Women for Hillary event at the home of House Minority Leader Paul Thissen. About 250 people attended the event, including Gov. Mark Dayton. Chelsea spoke about the importance of the Minnesota primary, especially following the close race in Iowa. She spoke about her mother’s experience and plans as president. She said, “Our next president will play such a fundamental role in shaping the country and the world that my daughter … and her future little brother or sister will grow up in.”

Clinton Testifies Before Congress

This was her second time appearing before Congress to answer questions about the attack in Benghazi that killed four Americans. However, it was the first time she appeared since it was announced that she used a private email server as Secretary of State.

The day began with opening statements by members of the committee and Clinton (read Clinton’s opening statement on The Briefing). Clinton was then asked an endless series of questions about her response to the attack on Benghazi including where she was, who she spoke with and when, what she knew and when, and why other options weren’t exercised. The other topic of interest was her use of a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State. She was asked why she used it, who had access to it, why she didn’t turn over all of emails instantly, and how it was decided which emails were personal and which were for work.

The questioning was tense at times, and Clinton and members of the committee did get heated. At one point in the conversation, two members of the committee, Representative  Trey Gowdy (R-South Carolina), and top Democrat, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland) argued with each other for several minutes before Rep. Gowdy (the chairman of the committee) called for a break.

Much will be said about Clinton’s testimony over the coming days and weeks both in the press and online, but we believe in presenting the information directly to those interested. Clinton Interviewed on PoliticsNation

FullSizeRenderOn Sunday’s episode of PoliticsNation on MSNBC, Hillary Rodham Clinton was interviewed by host Reverend Al Sharpton. During their conversation, Clinton and Sharpton discussed a number of topics including the differences between her and President Barack Obama, her supporters, her Republican rivals, police reform, gun control, President Bill Clinton’s crime bill, Syria, and the politicization of the Benghazi investigation in Congress. Clinton criticized recent comments by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy in which he said the investigation was successful for Republicans because it was hurting Clinton’s campaign. Clinton said, “When I hear a statement like that, which demonstrates unequivocally that this was always meant to be a partisan political exercise. I feel like it does a grave disservice and dishonors not just the memory of the four that we lost, but of everybody who has served our country.”

Clinton Attends Private Fundraisers in California

On Sunday, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended three private fundraisers in the Los Angeles area. The first was at the home of Rob Friedman, co-chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. The second event was held at the Elevate Lounge in downtown Los Angeles. Clinton concluded her brief trip to California with a fundraiser was held at the home of Dr. Asif Mahmood. As with all private fundraisers, they were closed to the press.

Clinton Attends Hamptons Fundraiser

On Saturday, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended a private fundraiser at the home of Selma and Artie Rabin in the upscale Hamptons area of New York. A number of politicians attended including Senator Cory Booker. Also in attendance was Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, and her husband Marc Mezvinsky. The event was closed to the public and press, but she reportedly spoke about her plans to build on the achievements of the last eight years, testifying before the House Select Committee on Benghazi in October, and creating a better future for the next generation.

Clinton to Testify before House Benghazi Committee

The campaign for Hillary Rodham Clinton announced that Clinton has agreed to appear before the House Benghazi Committee on October 22. The committee has been pressuring Clinton to appear for months and had indicated that they wanted her to testify behind closed doors. Clinton agreed to testify in a public hearing, however. She is expected to be asked about her knowledge of the 2012 attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, and she will also be asked about the personal email server she used while serving as Secretary of State. More details will be posted when they are available.

Clinton to Testify before Congress

Hillary Rodham Clinton agreed to testify before the House Select Committee on Benghazi the week of May 18 to answer questions about the 2012 Benghazi attacks and her use of a personal email server during her time as Secretary of State. David Kendall, a lawyer for Clinton, told the committee that she would only testify before the committee once and would not return later in the summer for a second round of questioning. Clinton appeared before a Congressional committee regarding the Benghazi attacks in 2013.

Tomorrow, Clinton heads to Nevada to continue her early campaign stops. She is expected to make a number of stops in the state including a scheduled appearance tomorrow at Rancho High School in Las Vegas. Follow Clinton in Nevada on Twitter and Facebook.

Hillary Clinton Gets Political on Twitter

Hillary Rodham Clinton took to Twitter today to voice her concerns about the Republican budget introduced in the House of Representatives which cut funds for the Affordable Care Act and Pell Grants. Yesterday, she blasted Senate Republicans for failing to pass the Human Trafficking bill and holding up the confirmation of Loretta Lynch as Attorney General. The Tweets came a week after she publicly criticized 47 Republican lawmakers for sending a letter to Iran in attempts to block any possible nuclear deal between Iran and the United States.

As she is expected to announce her 2016 presidential in a few weeks, Clinton is becoming more and more political in her statements and on Twitter. Her Tweets from yesterday and today are below:

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Fundraiser

920x920Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared at a Power of Women Fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in San Francisco. She was joined by a number of women from Congress including House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi. Clinton had a powerful tone as she blasted the Republicans for harming the economy, not passing an equal pay bill, and rolling back women’s access to health care and contraception. The comments were some of the strongest yet to come from Clinton in this election cycle.
