Clinton Campaign Releases New Video

Today, Hillary for America released a video highlighting Hillary Rodham Clinton’s career and tenure as Secretary of State. The five-minute video highlights her choices and accomplishments. A number of people are interviewed for the video including former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, former Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard, former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, Dr. Eric Goosby, and Lt. Clinton Campaign Releases New Ad

Hillary for America released a new ad “Get Ahead.” In the ad, Hillary Rodham Clinton contrasts herself with Republicans and criticizes how they are opposed to equal pay, family leave, and relieving student’s from the burden of debt. Clinton says, “If you work hard, and do you part, you should be able to get ahead and stay ahead. But the Republicans, they want to go back to letting the super wealthy call the shots. They don’t stand up for equal pay for women. They don’t support paid family leave. They don’t even really support refinancing student debt.” The full ad is above.

20th Anniversary of Beijing Speech

On September 5, 1995, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered a groundbreaking speech on women’s rights during the 4th Women’s Conference in Beijing. The speech is often quoted and is likely Clinton’s most famous speech. Today is the 20th Anniversary of the speech and to celebrate a video of the full speech is above.

Clinton Attends Fundraisers, Meets with Lawmakers in Texas

Hillary Rodham Clinton wrapped up the week by attending a breakfast fundraiser this morning in La Jolla, California. The event comes after several yesterday and one on Wednesday night in California. The private fundraiser was held at the home of Qualcomm co-founder Irwin Jacobs and his wife, Joan. Clinton left California for Texas where she met with Democratic lawmakers this afternoon. This evening, Clinton attended a private fundraiser at the McAllen home of powerbroker Alonzo Cantu. All three events were closed to the press.

On Monday, Clinton begins the week in New Hampshire where she is expected to roll out her plans for rising college tuition and student loan debt. Until then, follow along on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Clinton Releases First Campaign Ads

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign released two campaign ads that will begin airing in key battleground states, New Hampshire and Iowa. Both ads focus on family and what she learned about family values from her mother, Dorothy. The ads are more personal in nature and show how Clinton was inspired by her mother’s story to seek public office. In the ad she says, “When I think about why I’m doing this I think about my mother Dorothy. She was abandoned by her parents at the age of eight, sent from Chicago to LA to live with grandparents who didn’t want her. But people showed her kindness, gave her a chance.”

Hillary for America Writes Open Letter to The New York Times

After releasing a false story about a criminal investigation into the use of a personal email server by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Clinton campaign has released an open letter criticizing the inaccurate reporting by The New York Times. The letter, penned by communications director Jennifer Palmieri, was directed to Dean Baquet, the executive editor. The story originally said that the Department of Justice had been urged to open a criminal investigation. The story was later corrected to indicate the investigation was not criminal in nature but was a “security referral.”

In the letter, Palmieri wrote about the lack of response time given to the campaign by the news organization and she questioned the sources used for the article. She concluded by saying, “In closing, I wish to emphasize our genuine wish to have a constructive relationship with The New York Times. But we also are extremely troubled by the events that went into this erroneous report, and will be looking forward to discussing our concerns related to this incident so we can have confidence that it is not repeated in the future.”

Clinton Returns to South Carolina

Hillary Rodham Clinton attended a gathering of 400 Democrats in Columbia, South Carolina. Many of those in attendance were mayors from throughout the state. In her comments at the event, she defended Planned Parenthood and spoke about racial inequality. Clinton said, “We have to also acknowledge we have some serious problems with race and justice and systemic racism which unfortunately is all too often present.”

Clinton Makes Third Trip to Iowa

Since announcing her presidential campaign in April, Hillary Rodham Clinton has made two stops in Iowa. Today, she was in Iowa again, visiting Iowa City where she addressed a large crowd of supporters. In her speech, Clinton hit on a number of topics including women’s access to health care, the environment, gun control, and the recent Supreme Court decisions upholding the Affordable Care Act and legalizing same-sex marriage. As Iowa City is the home of Iowa State University, Clinton also spoke about the rising cost of college tuition and called for making college more affordable. After her speech, she took questions from reporters on topics ranging from the Greek debt crisis and her fellow Democratic competitor, Bernie Sanders.

Following her stop in Iowa City, Clinton headed for Ottumwa where she met with supporters at a grassroots organizing event. She then took questions from the crowd. Hillary for America has been very active in Iowa since April, and the campaign has started organizing larger events for Clinton as she continues to travel across the country.

While in Iowa, Clinton also sat down with CNN’s Brianna Keilar. The interview will be posted once it is available.

Tomorrow is the kick-off rally for Hillary for America on Roosevelt Island in New York. Hillary Rodham Clinton will give a major speech that is expected to begin to outline her platform for her 2016 presidential campaign. Since announcing her campaign in April, Clinton has been holding roundtable events gathering information. In the background, her political team has been meeting with advisers and gathering information on a wide range of topics including economic policy, LBGT rights, income inequality, women’s rights, and immigration. Following the rally tomorrow, Clinton begins a cross-country campaign where she will continue to flesh out her platform.

Attendees will be allowed in the park at 9:30 AM and Clinton is expected to give her speech in the late morning, but a time has yet to be announced.
