Democratic National Convention Begins Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Democrats will gather in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and office nominate Hillary Clinton and running mate Senator Tim Kaine as the Democratic ticket for president. The Convention is important because there are a series of caucus meetings and finalization of the Democratic Party platform. In a speech on Friday, Clinton promised that the convention would feature an optimistic view of America and our future as a stark contrast to the message delivered during the RNC last week.

Democratic National Convention Lineup Announced

We are a little over a week away from the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The convention will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center. The event will be held July 25 – 28 and will include delegates from all 50 states, Washington, DC, and U.S. territories. The main purpose of the convention is the formal nomination of the Democratic Party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates. The Democratic Party has announced the lineup for each day of the convention and the details are below:

Monday (7/25): United Together

Featuring First Lady Michelle Obama, Senator Bernie Sanders and DREAMer Astrid Silva

Gavel time expected at 3:00pm

Monday will focus on putting the future of American families front and center and how we’re stronger together when we build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top and when everyone has a chance to live up to their God-given potential. DREAMer Astrid Silva will share her story and her fight to keep families together.

Tuesday (7/26): A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families

President Bill Clinton and Mothers of the Movement

Gavel time expected at 4:00pm

Tuesday will feature the roll call vote and how Hillary has spent her entire career working to make a difference for children, families, and our country. The Mothers of the Movement participating include Gwen Carr, Mother of Eric Garner; Sybrina Fulton, Mother of Trayvon Martin; Maria Hamilton, Mother of Dontré Hamilton; Lucia McBath, Mother of Jordan Davis; Lezley McSpadden, Mother of Michael Brown; Cleopatra Pendleton-Cowley, Mother of Hadiya Pendleton; Geneva Reed-Veal, Mother of Sandra Bland.

Wednesday (7/27): Working Together

On Wednesday speakers will take an in-depth look at just how high the stakes are in this election and how Hillary has the experience and steadiness to bring people together to tackle the big challenges and get real results.

On the final day of the convention, Hillary will speak about her vision for our country – her belief that we are stronger together and that America is at its best when we work together to solve our problems.

Democratic National Convention Details

We are a little over a month away from the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The convention will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center. The event will be held July 25 – 28 and will include delegates from all 50 states, Washington, DC, and U.S. territories. The main purpose of the convention is the formal nomination of the Democratic Party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Democrat Hillary Clinton secured the required number of delegates required for the nomination in early June making her the first female presidential candidate to secure the nomination of a major political party. The Clinton camp is now working to select a running mate and build her team.

2015 Year in Review

This year has been busy for Hillary Clinton. Before announcing her presidential campaign on April 12, Clinton gave a number of paid speeches. But after announcing her campaign, Clinton began traveling around the country visiting with Americans and hosting rallies and town halls. As she has visited 38 states and spoke with thousands of Americans, she has outlined a solid platform and her vision for the future of America. By my count, Clinton hosted or attended over 250 events this year, and her schedule is sure to pickup as primary season begins. Below are some of the 2015 stats released by Hillary for America:

On a personal note, this website is an individual effort. I started this site in 2013 with the primary goal of providing easy access to Clinton’s speeches as she traveled across the country because I know the frustration of trying to locate videos and details from rallies she has held in the past. This year, there were 268 posts added to the site, and by my count, there are 241 events listed on the 2015 archive page. It has been a busy, but exciting year. The highlight for me was getting to attend Clinton’s rally in Tulsa earlier this month. Clinton Appears on ABC’s “This Week”

Hillary Clinton appeared on this morning’s episode of “This Week.” Host George Stephanopoulos spoke with Clinton on a variety of topics including her Republican rivals, but the primary topic of the conversation was ISIS. With President Barack Obama’s speech on terrorism scheduled for this evening, Clinton admitted that we are now winning the fight against ISIS. She called for more support from the Arab nations and the support of technology companies such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. ISIS uses Social Media to spread its message and recruit supports around the world, and she called on the companies to work with the governments of the world to prevent the spread of radicalization online. Clinton Participates in Telemundo Facebook Q&A

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton participated in a Facebook Q&A event hosted by Telemundo. The primary topic of the questions asked of Clinton were about immigration, but she was asked about several other topics including Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and her use of the term “illegal immigrant”. First Democratic Debate Tomorrow on CNN

CNN has released full details of tomorrow night’s Democratic debate from Las Vegas, Nevada which will feature Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb, and Lincoln Chafee. Vice President Joe Biden, who has not formally announced his candidacy, was invited to participate, but will not. The debate will be moderated by Anderson Cooper with Dana Bash and Juan Carlos Lopez also asking questions. Coverage begins at 8:30 PM ET on CNN and on CNN.com (we will post a link to the live stream before the debate begins). You can submit questions for the moderators to ask the candidates on Facebook and Instagram.

This is the first of six debates between the Democratic candidates. The other five debates are scheduled for:

November 14, 2015 – Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa (CBS)
December 19, 2015 – Manchester, New Hampshire (ABC)

Clinton Host Second Facebook Q&A

This afternoon, Hillary Rodham Clinton hosted her second Facebook Q&A event. During the session, Clinton received over 1,500 questions. She answered a number of them including questions about her thoughts on recent comments by Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio’s family leave plan, and prescription drugs. She answered a number of other questions about her platform, and she also answered more personal questions including one about her granddaughter’s recent birthday and her thoughts on pumpkin spice lattes. Clinton Celebrates with the Foundry United Methodist Church

This morning, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended the service celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, DC. Clinton attended the service with Bill and Chelsea. She addressed the congregation and spoke about her upbringing in the Methodist Church describing herself as “Methodist both by birth and by choice.” The Clintons were members of the Foundry United Methodist Church during President Clinton’s terms as president.

Clinton also took a moment to talk about her relationship with the press, which has been described as cold and distant. She said, “I got some advice from Dr. Wogaman just earlier this morning, which I promise I will put into effect. Basically he said, if you’re going to read and listen to Romans 12 you got to be nicer to the press. So, to my friends in the press, I will certainly take that to heart.” Over the last few weeks, Clinton has been more open with the press holding press conferences and granting national interviews, something that is expected to continue into the fall. Clinton Visits Ohio and Wisconsin

On Thursday, Hillary Rodham Clinton made two appearances at Women for Hillary organizational rallies. The first was in Columbus, Ohio where she talked about women’s issues and her pledge to defend Planned Parenthood. In a clear reference to presidential candidate Donald Trump, she told the crowd of 500 that she was looking forward to debating “one particular candidate who just seems to delight in insulting women every chance he gets.” A full video of the speech is below (we apologize for the quality, and it will be replaced when/if another video is made available).

Her second stop was in Wisconsin, her first visit to the state since launching her presidential campaign. The event was held at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she focused on labor issue, and in particular, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s stance against unions. Clinton attacked Walker, now a Republican presidential candidate, saying, “What happens when you’re a proud union member and you have a governor who wants to drive you out?” She pledged her support for labor unions across Wisconsin and the country.
