Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea in Iowa Day Before Caucus

Today, the Clintons were in Iowa on the final day before the caucuses. While Chelsea spent the day traveling with her mom, Bill did attend one solo event. In Iowa City, Bill spoke for an hour about Hillary’s accomplishments and experience before he spoke about several issues that she is going to make a priority if elected president, including health care and education. He then urged caucus goers to support her tomorrow night. He said, “We are going to share the future, the only main issues are the terms on which we share it. Are they going to be positive or negative? She’s the best change maker I have ever known and I hope you caucus for her tomorrow night.” A video from the event will be added when/if available.

Hillary’s first event of the day was in Council Bluffs. After being introduced by Chelsea, she asked the full house to support her in tomorrows caucus and discussed a number of her platform plans. She spoke about equal pay for women, the economy, repairing the country’s infrastructure, and working with other countries to keep us safe.

In Sioux City, Hillary only mentioned Democratic rival Bernie Sanders once when she was referring to her heath care plan and how it differs from his. She promised to make college more affordable, improve the country’s crumbling infrastructure, invest in clean energy, and combat climate change. She repeated her pledge to not raise taxes on those in the middle class as well. Hillary told the crowd, “If you stand up to caucus for me tomorrow (Monday) night, I will stand up for you.”

The final event of the day, and the final event before tomorrow night’s caucuses, was in Des Moines where a crowd of 2,600 turned out to see Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea. After brief speeches by Bill and Chelsea, Hillary took the stage to deliver her closing arguments before the caucus. She attached Republicans for “collective amnesia,” forgetting that it was the very policies that they are proposing that caused the recession. She also spoke about Wall Street and how there were ads funded by Wall Street against her running in Iowa because of her plans to regulate “shadow” banking. She also spoke about climate change, clean energy, and taxes.

Bill, Kelly, and Giffords Campaign for Hillary on Saturday

Saturday was a busy day in Iowa. With the caucus being Monday, candidates from both parties have flocked to the state, and for Hillary Clinton, supports have been canvassing the state for weeks. Politicians, actors, activists, and others have been speaking on her behalf, and Saturday was no different. Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her husband, Mike Kelly, were in Iowa where they appeared with Hillary at an event in Ames, but then went to Des Moines to speak to Iowans about common sense gun control and why Hillary was the best candidate for that job.

Bill Clinton was also traveling across Iowa with events in Iowa Falls and Grinnell. At both events, he spoke about Hillary’s experience and why she is the best choice, not only for the Democratic nomination, but for president as well. Videos from Saturday’s events will be added when/if available.

Hillary and Bill Appear Together in Davenport

Hillary Clinton was in Iowa on Friday for three Get out the Caucus events. The first of her events was in Des Moines where she spoke about health care. She focused on her plan and explained why the single-payer plan proposed by Bernie Sanders will “never, ever come to pass.” She explained that overhauling the heath care system again would take too long, and the American people don’t have time to wait. Clinton argued that building upon the progress that has been made is a more sensible solution. A video from the event will be added when/if available.

The second stop was in Dubuque where she admitted that some her plans may not be as flashy as some of her opponents’, but she would rather “underpromise and over-deliver” then the other way around. Clinton then spoke about the points of her campaign platform including health care, the economy, taxes, and clean energy. A video from the event in Dubuque is below.

In the final stop of the day, Hillary was joined by Bill in Davenport. Speaking to a crowd of over 1,500, Bill began by talking about her experience and why she would make a great president. He then handed the microphone over to Hillary and she spoke about economy under her husband’s administration and since President Obama has taken office. She argued that only a Democrat is going to continue the progress that has been made. She criticized Republicans for “wanting to go back to what failed us before.” A video from the event is below.

Bill, Chelsea Among Those Campaigning for Hillary

On Friday, Bill Clinton was in Iowa, where he hosted two Get Out the Caucus events. At both events, one in Fairfield and the other in Muscatine, Bill spoke about Hillary, her experience, and what makes her the best candidate for president. He said that where ever she goes and what ever she does, “she always makes something good happen.” He spoke about Hillary’s plans, specifically for heath care saying that the plan put forward by Bernie Sanders would be too costly. He urged voters caucus for Hillary on Monday. A video from the event in Fairfield is below.

Chelsea Clinton was in Florida for two fundraisers. The first was in Fort Lauderdale and the second was an event hosted by Ed Lally and Phil Dinkins in St. Petersburg. In New Hampshire on Friday, female activist Gloria Steinem and actor Ted Danson met with volunteers and voters leading up to the state’s February 9th primary.

Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hillary in Iowa

Bill Clinton was in Iowa Thursday where he made stops in Waverly, Mount Vernon, Washington, and Ottumwa. At each of the four events, he spoke about Hillary Clinton’s experience and how that will benefit her if elected president. He focused on her determination to fight for everyone and help those in need. Clinton referenced Hillary’s time working for the Children’s Defense Fund as well as her work as First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State. Clinton Touts Experience in Iowa

Hillary Clinton remained in Iowa on Tuesday where she hosted three Get out the Caucus events. During each of the events, she highlighted her experience and pragmatism arguing that she is the best choice for the Democratic nominee. During her first event in Decorah, Clinton spoke before taking questions from the audience. One of the questions was whether she would consider appointing President Barack Obama to the Supreme Court. President Obama has expressed interest in the court, and it would not the unprecedented. President William Howard Taft served on the Supreme Court after his term as president. Clinton thought the idea of appointing President Obama was a good idea. A partial video from the event is below. A full video will be added when/if available.

Clinton then traveled to Cedar Falls where she focused on the economy and those who have not yet recovered from the financial crisis. She spoke about her platform and how she has laid out her platform and explained how she is going to pay for her plans. Clinton vowed not to raise taxes on those in the middle or lower classes. During her speech, she also explained how disastrous it would be to elect a Republican president because they would begin to undo the progress of the last eight years. She said, “I want you to know that I’m not just shouting slogans. I’m not just engaging in rhetoric. I’ve thought this through. I have a plan. I don’t think you can get what we need done in this election, or in the presidency, unless you level with people.” A video from the event will be posted when/if available.

The final event of the day was in Marshalltown, where Clinton spoke about the importance of a Democrat succeeding President Obama and why she should be is successor. On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton remained in Iowa, but she had help on the campaign trail. Tennis champion and feminist icon Billie Jean King appeared at events in Ames, Des Moines, and Iowa City. At each of her stops, she spoke about Hillary’s experience and why she is supporting her as, not only the Democratic party nominee, but the next President of the United States.

Bill and Chelsea Clinton each attended a fundraiser in California. Bill attended a fundraiser in San Francisco. Chelsea attended a fundraiser in Venice hosted by Scott Mayers. As with all private events, the fundraisers were closed to the public.

Hillary Clinton Strong in CNN Town Hall

On Monday night, Hillary Clinton participated in CNN’s Iowa Town Hall event. The town hall was hosted by Chris Cuomo and each of the Democratic candidates, Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O’Malley, were on stage separately. After some questions from Cuomo, the floor was open to questions from the audience. In her answers, Clinton set a clear contrast between herself and Sanders citing experience and a progressive background that will allow her to get things done. While Sanders has big ideas, it isn’t likely that he will be successful getting them passed in Congress.

While Sanders attacked Clinton for her relationship with Wall Street and vote in favor of the Iraq war, Clinton argued that she is only candidate that offers the skills and experience required for handling issues both domestically and abroad. She said, “It’s hard. If it were easy, hey, there wouldn’t be any contest. But it’s not easy. There are very different visions, different values, different forces at work, and you have to have somebody who is a proven fighter — somebody who has taken them on and won, and kept going, and will do that as President.” A video from the event is below.

Clinton Rallies Iowa Crowds

Hillary Clinton was in Iowa for the second day in a row. As she travels the state encouraging support in the February 1 caucus, Clinton began her day at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids where she was introduced by Senator Cory Booker. Booker gave a passionate speech before introducing Clinton to the congregation where she spoke about the difficult decision of becoming Secretary of State and her pledge to continue fighting for civil rights. She spoke about building upon the progress of President Barack Obama’s administration. A video from this morning is below.

The second event of the day was in Marion where she was once again introduced by Senator Booker. During her speech, she focused on her plans for health care and other aspects of her platform, but more importantly, she asked those in attendance to think about which of the candidates is best prepared to be president. She said, “Who has the experience? Who has the judgment? Who can actually deliver for the United States when it comes to making these hard choices?”

Clinton then went to North Liberty for a Get out the Caucus event. She was introduced by Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards before giving a speech during which she spoke about the importance of Planned Parenthood and preserving a women’s right to choose. She also spoke about a number of other key platform points including building upon the economy, improving the infrastructure, and expanding the middle class. She, again, focused on experience and resolve to get things done if elected to the White House. A video from the North Liberty event is below.

Clinton’s final event of the day took place in West Des Moines. During the event at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School, Clinton accepted the endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign. She vowed to protect and expand the rights of the LGBT community saying, “We all benefit when every one of our fellow human beings can live lives of purpose and meaning without being demeaned, without being discriminated against. This is fight is for all Americans.” She then went on to speak about several of her key platform topics, and addressed criticism raised by rival Bernie Sanders about her Wall Street speaking fees. She said, “I have a record and a commitment. I believe strongly that we need to make sure Wall Street never wrecks Main Street again.” A video from the event is below.

Clinton Endorsed by the The Des Moines Register

On Saturday, The Des Moines Register endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic ticket citing her knowledge and the depth of her experience as their reasoning. Although they criticized Clinton for not admitting when she has made a mistake, they said that overall her knowledge on a wide variety of issues impressed their editors during two separate interview sessions. In conclusion, they said, “Iowa Democrats will have to choose between the lofty idealism of Bernie Sanders and the down-to-earth pragmatism of Hillary Clinton. For some, this will be a choice of whether to vote with their hearts or their heads. Clinton has demonstrated that she is a thoughtful, hardworking public servant who has earned the respect of leaders at home and abroad.
