Bill Clinton Campaigns in Flushing

On Tuesday, Bill Clinton was in New York City where he spoke at an organizing event in Flushing, Queens. Bill spoke about a variety of Hillary Clinton’s platform points including immigration reform, heath care, criminal justice reform, and supporting small businesses. On the topic of small businesses, he said, “New York City’s economy is diversifying … We doubled the number of small business loans to women and to minorities. That’s what Hillary wants to do again.” He then asked voters to support Hillary in New York’s upcoming primary, which will be held on April 19.

In the evening, Bill attended a gala hosted by Emily’s List. During the event, he spoke about Hillary’s plans and criticized the Republicans and their policies. He called out Donald Trumps proposals to ban Muslims from entering the country and building a wall that Mexico will pay for. He said that neither plan will work and it doesn’t get to the root of the problem. Bill stressed the importance of working with Silicon Valley companies to fight terrorism because while it may be possible to keep people from crossing the border, “you cannot keep the social media out.” A video from today’s events will be added when/if available.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Clinton attended a fundraiser in Brooklyn, New York. A second fundraiser was held on behalf of Hillary for America in New York City. It was hosted by Entrepreneurs for Hillary and featured a conversation with the Kitchen co-founder Kimbal Musk. The event was hosted by Laetitia and Richard Garriott de Cayeux.

On Friday, Bill and Hillary Clinton were on the campaign trail and attended events in three different states. Hillary began by attending a fundraiser event in Boston, Massachusetts hosted by Jeanne and Jonathan Lavine. Then, Hillary attended two events in New Hampshire where she was joined by three Senators: Minnesota’s Amy Klobuchar, Michigan’s Debbie Stabenow and New Hampshire’s Jeanne Shaheen. The group also included Lily Ledbetter and Emily’s List president Stephanie Schriock. The six women called themselves the “sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits” and attended events in Nashua and Manchester where they rallied women voters. They each took time to speak to voters, asking for their support in next week’s primary.

In the evening, Hillary attended the McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner where thousands of Democrats packed Verizon Wireless Arena. Bernie Sanders and Hillary both attended the event and spoke to the crowd. Clinton said, “I’m going to compete for every vote here. I’ll answer every question. I’ll work my heart out to earn your support.” The event is important because while Hillary trails Sanders in the polls, nearly one third of those surveyed are still undecided. A video of Hillary’s speech during the event is below.

Meanwhile, Bill was in Las Vegas, Nevada holding a grassroots organizing event. Speaking at the United Brotherhood of Carpenters International Training Center, Bill urged voters of all ages to support Hillary. He framed her a change maker and touted her decades of experience. Bill criticized Sanders’ heath care plan and how starting over with heath care is just not an option. He then turned his attention to millennials, who are Sanders biggest supporters. He sympathized with their anger with the status quo, and said, “I get it — a lot of people are mad. When you’ve lived long enough and you’ve got more yesterdays than tomorrows … what you want is for every single American to be able to walk into a future where you can make your own choices, dream your own dreams and live the future you want.” A video from the event is below.

Today, Hillary is in New Hampshire and Bill will remain in Nevada. For all the latest, follow our revamped Scheduled Events page and follow Clinton on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Emily’s List 30th Anniversary Gala

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

150304-hillary-clinton-1134p_490d349844dfcfbbdb7ced6a56264840Hillary Rodham Clinton gave a speech at the 30th Anniversary Gala for Emily’s List where she received the We Are EMILY Award. During her speech, Clinton spoke about women in politics and the guidance her mother offered as she grew up. Several times, Clinton teased a possible 2016 presidential run, but she avoided talking about allegations that she used personal email addresses while she was Secretary of State and possibly violating the rules of the National Archives and Records Administration. Details are still emerging, but Clinton did turn over 55,000 pages of her email to the State Department and several hundred pages of her emails have been provided to a Congressional committee investigating the attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. Since learning that Clinton used personal emails, the committee has subpoenaed additional emails from her personal email accounts.

Clinton was not the only speaker at the event. Other speakers included Gabrielle Giffords, Ayanna Pressley, Uzo Aduba, and Nancy Pelosi
