On Wednesday, Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared on The Tonight show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The show began with Clinton being interviewed by Fallon as Donald Trump. When Clinton was later brought her for the full interview, Fallon and Clinton discussed a number of topics including her email, her campaign, and her thoughts on Donald Trump. While in New York for the filming of The Tonight Show, Clinton also attended a private fundraiser on Staten Island. The event was held at the home of Sal Rusi. As with all private events, this was closed to the press and public.
On Monday, the entertainment news show Extra aired part one of its interview between host Mario Lopez and Hillary Rodham Clinton. During the interview, Clinton answered questions about her email and Republican opponent Donald Trump. Lopez then asked Clinton about her selfie with Kim Kardashian and her thoughts on Kanye West’s announcement during the MTV Video Music Awards that he was running for president in 2020. About a possible run by West, Clinton said, “Well, if I’m going for my second term, [I would ask him] to wait four years, but if I’m not… be sure he has comfortable shoes because there’s a lot of walking involved.”
Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton was interviewed by David Muir and portions of his interview with her aired on World News Tonight. In the interview, Clinton apologized for using a private email server as Secretary of State and acknowledged that she could have done a better job of explaining herself when the story came to light earlier this year. Muir then asked Clinton about her rival Donald Trump and why is running for president again after losing the Democratic nomination in 2008.

To celebrate Labor Day, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended a number of Labor Day events across the state of Iowa. In Cedar Rapids, she was interviewed by the Associated Press where she was questioned about her email server, her presidential campaign, and her rivals. The primary purpose of the day for Clinton was to celebrate organized labor by attending a number of celebrations across the state. The topics that she focused on were income inequity, the minimum wage, and unions’ rights to collectively bargain. She addressed the Hawkeye Labor Council AFL-CIO Labor Day picnic in Cedar Rapids before heading to the Quad Cities area of Iowa and Illinois.
Clinton continued her focus on labor topics at the Quad City Federation of Labor’s Salute to Labor Chicken Fry in Hampton. She spoke about the importance of organized labor and its historical relevance. She pledged to support labor unions if she is elected president. While in Hampton, Clinton also received an endorsement from Iowa Representative Dave Loebsack. A video from Clinton’s speech in Hampton is below.
This week, Clinton is scheduled to give a speech in Washington, DC supporting the agreement with Iran on Wednesday, appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, and is scheduled to make appearances in Ohio and Wisconsin on Thursday. Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to Ankeny, Iowa to discuss her plan to support rural, agricultural America. After being introduced by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at the Des Moines Area Community College, Clinton unveiled her plan that includes investments in rural areas including focusing on rural transportation, streamlining the process for community banks, investment in water and broadband infrastructure, and improving Agriculture Department grant programs. Other facets of the plan includes raising the production of agricultural products and making the product more profitable for farmers, promoting a use of clean energy and renewable energy sources, and expanding opportunities for those in rural communities by expanding Head Start, affordable education, and affordable healthcare.

Following the event, Clinton answered questions from reporters where she discussed her use of a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State. She expressed regret and said that she believes in transparency. She said, “I know people have raised questions about my email use as secretary of state, and I understand why. I get it. So here’s what I want the American people to know: My use of personal email was allowed by the State Department. It clearly wasn’t the best choice. I should’ve used two emails: one personal, one for work. I take responsibility for that decision, and I want to be as transparent as possible, which is why I turned over 55,000 pages, why I’ve turned over my server, why I’ve agreed to — in fact, been asking to — and have finally gotten a date to testify before a congressional committee in October. I’m confident that this process will prove that I never sent, nor received, any email that was marked classified.

On Saturday, Hillary Rodham Clinton visited the Iowa State Fair where she met with attendees and enjoyed fair food. She was joined by former Iowa Senator Tom Harkin. She also held a brief press conference where she answered questions about her emails, Iraq, and joining Snapchat. Clinton wasn’t the only presidential candidate at the fair, Republican candidate Donald Trump also made an appearance. A video from Clinton’s press conference can be found on C-SPAN.
After leaving Iowa, Clinton flew to Martha’s Vineyard where she met up with President Barack Obama and husband Bill Clinton (who spent the day playing golf together) to attend the birthday celebration of power broker Vernon Jordan.

Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign released a fact sheet about her use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State. The release came as it was announced that Clinton would turn over her private email server to the Department of Justice following allegations that she received classified emails on an insecure channel. The Clinton campaign’s release includes a number of key points and a link to a Q&A on their website. The full text of the release is below:
Here are the basics: Like other Secretaries of State who served before her, Hillary used a personal email address, and the rules of the State Department permitted it. She’s already acknowledged that, in hindsight, it would have been better just to use separate work and personal email accounts. No one disputes that.
The State Department’s request: Last year, as part of a review of its records, the State Department asked the last four former Secretaries of State to provide any work-related emails they had. Hillary was the only former Secretary of State to provide any materials — more than 30,000 emails. In fact, she handed over too many — the Department said it will be returning over 1,200 messages to her because, in their and the National Archives’ judgment, these messages were completely personal in nature.
Hillary didn’t send any classified materials over email: Hillary only used her personal account for unclassified email. No information in her emails was marked classified at the time she sent or received them. She viewed classified materials in hard copy in her office or via other secure means while traveling, not on email.
What makes it complicated: It’s common for information previously considered unclassified to be upgraded to classified before being publicly released. Some emails that weren’t secret at the time she sent or received them might be secret now. And sometimes government agencies disagree about what should be classified, so it isn’t surprising that another agency might want to conduct its own review, even though the State Department has repeatedly confirmed that Hillary’s emails contained no classified information at the time she sent or received them.
To be clear, there is absolutely no criminal inquiry into Hillary’s email or email server. Any and all reports to that effect have been widely debunked. Hillary directed her team to provide her email server and a thumb drive in order to cooperate with the review process and to ensure these materials were stored in a safe and secure manner.
What about the Benghazi committee? While you may hear from the Republican-led Benghazi committee about Hillary’s emails, it is important to remember that the committee was formed to focus on learning lessons from Benghazi to help prevent future tragedies at our embassies and consulates around the globe. Instead, the committee, led by Republican Representative Trey Gowdy, is spending nearly $6 million in taxpayer money to conduct a partisan witch-hunt designed to do political damage to Hillary in the run-up to the election.
Hillary has remained absolutely committed to cooperating. That’s why, just as she gave her email server to the government, she’s also testifying before the Benghazi committee in October and is actively working with the Justice Department to make sure they have what they need. She hopes that her emails will continue to be released in a timely fashion.
It’s worth noting: Many of the Republican candidates for president have done the same things for which they’re now criticizing Hillary. As governor, Jeb Bush owned his own private server and his staff decided which emails he turned over as work-related from his private account. Bobby Jindal went a step further, using private email to communicate with his immediate staff but refusing to release his work-related emails. Scott Walker and Rick Perry had email issues themselves.
The release of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s emails during her tenure as Secretary of State has certainly made headlines, and Clinton has said on several occasions that she wants the emails available to the public in the interest of transparency. News organizations release quotes from a few of her emails, but many average Americans have asked how they can read the emails from home. Since the release of the emails is part of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), all the emails are being posted to the State Department’s FOIA website. To access the emails that have been released so far, follow the steps below:
You will get results with a mix of emails and other documents
Click on the arrow next to the “Posted Date” column header and select “Sort Descending” so that the recently released documents show first
Click the title of the document in the “Subject” field to open a PDF copy
As of this posting, the search yields 3,445 emails and documents, and this number is going to continue to grow. The State Department will release batches of Clinton’s emails at the end of each month through the end of 2015. A total of 30,490 were turned over to the State Department, so this is going to be a long process.

After releasing a false story about a criminal investigation into the use of a personal email server by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Clinton campaign has released an open letter criticizing the inaccurate reporting by The New York Times. The letter, penned by communications director Jennifer Palmieri, was directed to Dean Baquet, the executive editor. The story originally said that the Department of Justice had been urged to open a criminal investigation. The story was later corrected to indicate the investigation was not criminal in nature but was a “security referral.”
In the letter, Palmieri wrote about the lack of response time given to the campaign by the news organization and she questioned the sources used for the article. She concluded by saying, “In closing, I wish to emphasize our genuine wish to have a constructive relationship with The New York Times. But we also are extremely troubled by the events that went into this erroneous report, and will be looking forward to discussing our concerns related to this incident so we can have confidence that it is not repeated in the future.”
