Tim Kaine returned to Iowa where he spoke at an event in Dubuque. During the event, Kaine spoke about Hillary Clinton’s plan to build an economy that works for everyone and not just those at the top. He spoke about Clinton’s plans to raise the minimum wage, make college more affordable, and create new jobs by investing in infrastructure and manufacturing. Kaine said that America is stronger when it works together, and he criticized Donald Trump’s divisive message. He argued that the choice is clear, “Hillary Clinton has a 40-plus year focus on the needs of families and kids that is every bit as historic as having the first women president. Donald Trump’s passion is about himself.” He concluded by urging everyone to vote. A video from the event will be posted when/if available.
Meanwhile, Anne Holton spoke at four events for the campaign. She began in Iowa where she spoke at an early voting event in Fort Dodge. She then traveled to Ohio for events in Trotwood, Lima, and Findlay. At each event, Holton spoke about a number of Clinton’s platform including her plans to create jobs and build an equal economy. She spoke about the importance of the election urging everyone to vote saying, “Democracy works when people participate and what you are doing is helping people participate. On Wednesday, Chelsea Clinton campaigned on behalf of her mother, Hillary Clinton, in Iowa. She spoke at events in Dubuque and Sioux City, and focused on the importance of voting at both. She encouraged everyone who is unable to vote on November 8 to take advantage of early voting in Iowa, which is currently under way. Chelsea also spoke about a number of her mother’s platform points including reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs, continuing to improve the health care system, and Hillary’s plans to help rural Americans. Senator Bernie Sanders campaigned for Hillary today in Iowa and Wisconsin. His first event was in Des Moines where he spoke to supporters at Drake University. During the event, Sanders spoke about Hillary’s economic plan and her proposals to ensure a college education is affordable, help students who are in debt refinance at lower interest rates, create new jobs across the country by investing in the country’s infrastructure and expanding clean energy. Sanders then traveled to Madison, Wisconsin for an event supporting both Hillary and U.S. Senate candidate Russ Feingold. Sanders said that he supports Hillary because she supports a progressive platform and will fight for it as president. He then outlined a number of the issues she will work on as president including raising the minimum wage, creating a public option for health care, reforming the criminal justice system, and implementing campaign finance reform. He stressed that Hillary is better then the alternative, Republican Donald Trump, saying, “We will not allow bigotry to resurface in the United States of America. Sanders’ final event of the day was in Green Bay where he continued to focus on Clinton’s dedication to progress. He spoke about similar points as he had in Des Moines and Madison earlier in the day, but the Senator was greeted warmly. Sanders, an Independent from Vermont, has been on the campaign trail for Hillary since the Democratic National Convention in July. As Hillary’s former rival for the Democratic nomination, he has repeatedly said that he is dedicated to electing Hillary president in November. Meanwhile, a series of fundraisers were held across the country in support of Hillary for America. The first was in Washington, DC and featured Hillary Clinton, Eva Longoria, Julianna Margulies, and special performance by Estelle. The next event was in San Francisco, California and featured a conversation with Senator Elizabeth Warren. Then, in St. Augustine, Florida, an event was held at the home of Dawn and Patrick Canan. The event featured a conversation with Congresswoman Gwen Graham. The final event was a fundraiser for American citizens in London featuring Melanne Verveer, former Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, U.S. Department of State.
Hillary Clinton was in Iowa on Friday for three Get out the Caucus events. The first of her events was in Des Moines where she spoke about health care. She focused on her plan and explained why the single-payer plan proposed by Bernie Sanders will “never, ever come to pass.” She explained that overhauling the heath care system again would take too long, and the American people don’t have time to wait. Clinton argued that building upon the progress that has been made is a more sensible solution. A video from the event will be added when/if available.
The second stop was in Dubuque where she admitted that some her plans may not be as flashy as some of her opponents’, but she would rather “underpromise and over-deliver” then the other way around. In the final stop of the day, Hillary was joined by Bill in Davenport. Speaking to a crowd of over 1,500, Bill began by talking about her experience and why she would make a great president. He then handed the microphone over to Hillary and she spoke about economy under her husband’s administration and since President Obama has taken office. She argued that only a Democrat is going to continue the progress that has been made. She criticized Republicans for “wanting to go back to what failed us before.” A video from the event is below.

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton gave a campaign speech on the campus of University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. During her speech, Clinton covered a number of topics from her platform, but she took the opportunity to criticize her primary opponent, Bernie Sanders. She criticize him for his plans to raise taxes across the board, his record on gun control, and his plans for health care. On the upcoming primary, Clinton said, “You are owed a spirited debate over what our differences are, because we have substantive differences and it’s important that you know before you caucus on Feb. 1 what those might be.” A video of her full speech is below.
This evening, Clinton was scheduled to attend a fundraiser in Detroit, Michigan. Singer Michael Bolton is scheduled to perform at the event.

This week, Bill Clinton began hosting private and public events on behalf of his wife and Hillary for America. On Thursday, Clinton visited Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, Iowa where he took the opportunity to meet with several voters and hold two organizing events. His speeches were similar in that he spoke about the importance of electing a Democrat as president in 2016, and the best candidate for the job is Hillary Clinton. He spoke of her qualifications, and said that she is the best qualified person for the job. He said, “I do not believe in my lifetime, we have had a president that was more prepared, not only by experience but by temperament, to step in to this incredible mix of promise and peril. Ever. Former president Clinton also attended several private fundraisers over the last several days. Beginning on Wednesday, January 6, Clinton attended a New York City fundraiser hosted by the NY Film and TV for Hillary. On Friday, Clinton was scheduled to attend a fundraiser at the Paradise Valley, Arizona home of Dr. Nadeem and Hajra Kazi. He then flew to Seattle, Washington to attend a fundraiser at the Century Ballroom. Today, he was scheduled to appear at a fundraiser hosted by James Griffin in Los Ranchos, New Mexico before flying to Ohio to attend a fundraiser at the DiGeronimo Residence in Independence. As with all private fundraisers, they were closed to the press.

On Friday, Hillary Rodham Clinton kicked off her trip to Iowa for the Iowa State Fair. Her visit began as she received the endorsement of former Iowa Senator Tom Harkin. She began the day in Dubuque where she held a town hall discussing college affordability. After unveiling her plan earlier this week, Clinton expanded upon her proposal explaining that she would raise taxes on those who are more wealthy to help off-set the cost. The plan, which would cost $350 billion over 10 years, will make college more affordable and help those with student loans. “We have to make a quality education affordable and available without saddling young people with decades of debt,” she said. Friday evening, Clinton attended the Iowa Democratic Wing Ding. She gave a speech to a large, receptive crowd, and she continued to talk about college affordability. But also used the opportunity to attack her Republican rivals by criticizing the their record and how strikingly similar the candidates appear. She said, “Don’t let the circus distract you, if you look at their policies, most of the other candidates are just Trump without the pizzazz or the hair. Yes, Mr. Trump says outrageous and hateful things about immigrants but how many of the other candidates disagree with him?” A full video from the Wing Ding is available on MSNBC.
