Hillary Clinton on Good Morning America, Campaigns in CT

On Thursday morning, Hillary Clinton appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America for a town hall style segment. Clinton was interviewed by Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos before taking questions from those in attendance. She was asked questions on a number of topics including some of her platform points, her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders, her thoughts on the Republican presidential candidates, and she was asked some light hearted questions as well. She was asked what her husband’s (former president Bill Clinton) most annoying habit was. She answered, “No matter how tired he is, he always feels like he has to read before he goes to sleep. That means I have to get up and go around and turn the light off before I go to bed!” A video from this morning’s episode is below.

Clinton then went to Hartford, Connecticut where she attended a conversation on gun violence held at the Wilson-Gray YMCA. Clinton also met with families of victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The discussion included families that have lost loved ones as a direct result of shootings or gun violence. During the 90-minute conversation, a number of the family members shared their stories, the group took questions from the audience, and Clinton said that she would fight for common sense gun control and the introduction of mandatory background checks before purchasing a firearm. She said, “If anything else was killing 33,000 Americans a year, we’d be doing something about it. I’m not here to make promises I can’t keep. But I will spend every day as President trying to get gun control.” A video from today’s event is below.

This evening, Clinton returned to New York City for a fundraiser hosted by Donna Zaccaro and Paul Ullman, Anne and John Zaccaro.

Hillary Clinton Focuses on Gun Violence Prevention in New York

On Monday, Hillary Clinton attended a number of campaign events across New York. In Port Washington, Clinton and Congressman Steve Israel hosted a round table discussion on the prevention of gun violence. During the event, Clinton explained the importance of introducing federal regulations of gun sales and mandatory background checks. The state of New York, for example, has strict gun laws, but people wanting to purchase a gun can get around them by going to neighboring states such as Vermont. Clinton said, “Here’s what I want you to know: most of the guns that are used in crimes and violence and killings in New York come from out of state. And the state that has the highest per capita number of those guns that end up committing crimes in New York come from Vermont.” She continued, “So this is not, ‘Oh, you know, I live in a rural state, we don’t have these problems.’ This is, you know what? It’s easy to cross borders. Criminals, domestic abusers, traffickers, people who are dangerously mentally ill — they cross borders, too. And sometimes they do it to get the guns they use. This has to become a voting issue for those of us who want to save lives.”

Clinton also spent some time in Queens where she spoke with patrons at the Jackson Diner. Following her visit, she took a few questions from reporters and criticized rival, Senator Bernie Sanders, for his inability to answer certain questions about his plans and his record. She said, “I have noticed that under the bright spotlight and scrutiny here in New York, Sen. Sanders has had trouble answering questions. He’s had trouble answering questions about his core issue, namely dealing with the banks. He’s had trouble answering foreign-policy questions. So I look forward to a debate that is in New York with people asking the kinds of questions that New Yorkers ask.”

Hillary also attended two fundraisers in the state. The first was in Mount Kisco and was held at the home of Marco Masotti and Tracy Stein. The second event of the day was in Glen Cove and was hosted by Mindy and Jay Jacobs, Laurie and Marty Scheinman. Also attending the event was Congressman Israel.

Clinton Speaks at USC, Appears on Jimmy Kimmel Live

On Thursday, Hillary Clinton took part in a roundtable discussion on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC). The roundtable consisted of Los Angeles area officials and focused on the issue of homeland security and the Muslim American community. Clinton spoke about the recent terrorist attacks in Belgium saying that the rhetoric coming from the Republican presidential candidates is dangerous and will not make America safer. She said, “We cannot allow our nation to be pitting groups against one another. We cannot give in to panic and fear. It’s not in keeping with our values. It’s not effective in protecting us, and it plays into the hands of terrorists.” A full video from the discussion is below.

Later in the evening, Clinton stopped by ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she and Kimmel discuss a number of topics including her campaign, Republican rival Donald Trump, campaign finance reform, and her email controversy. During her appearance, Kimmel offered suggestions of new campaign slogans, and he helped Clinton with a speech by “mansplaining” how it would be perceived by men. Clinton Attends Events in Massachusetts

Hillary Rodham Clinton attended a number of events across Massachusetts today. She began by attending a private fundraiser at the home of Linda Mason and Roger Brown in Belmont. Following the event, Clinton went to Boston where she hosted a substance abuse community forum. She has held a number of round table discussions in the Northeast to discuss drug abuse and has used the information to form her drug policy platform. She has stressed that substance abuse should be treated as a disease. Clinton said, “If you have heart disease, cancer, diabetes, you can find a place and you should be able to find a place, and I want substance abuse put on the same level. It saves people’s lives. There’s nothing more important. Save somebody’s life. Give somebody a second chance.”

This evening, Clinton attended a private fundraiser hosted by Boston for Hillary. The press was not in attendance for the private events, but if/when a video from the round table discussion is available, it will be posted.

Clinton Attends California Events

On Thursday, Hillary Rodham Clinton attended an early morning fundraiser in Atherton, California. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and former State Assemblywoman Fiona Ma hosted the breakfast event. Clinton was in San Francisco last night as well to begin her visit to California.

After leaving the San Francisco, Clinton traveled to southern California where she held a roundtable discussion with home health care workers at the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. Following the roundtable, Clinton attended a fundraiser at the home of Scooter and Yael Braun. Braun is a record label executive and manager for Justin Bieber. The events were private and closed to the press.
