Senator Sanders, Anne Holton Campaign for Hillary

On Monday, Senator Bernie Sanders campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton in Colorado. At a Get out the Vote event on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, he spoke about a variety of issues including the rising cost of a higher education, income inequality, immigration, and health care. Sanders addressed how Clinton and the Democratic platform would address of each of the issues and urged them to get out and vote on November 8th. “Politics and political engagement does not end on Election Day. We need you on the day after the election,” he said urging the crowd, most of them student, to remain politically active following the election. A video of Sanders’ speech is below.

Anne Holton, wife of Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine, was in Florida where she held two events in Pensacola. Her first stop was a Women for Hillary event during which she spoke about a number of Clinton’s platform points including plans to increase the minimum wage, create new jobs, ensure equal pay for women, and provide paid family leave. She praised the campaign run by Clinton and Kaine saying, “It is important to have that person-to-person contact, it is even more important with the negativity we have had this campaign season. Holton also spoke with volunteers and supporters at a local canvass kick-off. She encouraged them to keep knocking on doors, putting up signs, and making phone calls. Meanwhile, three fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America as the final fundraising deadline approaches. The first was in Bethesda, Maryland where Tim Kaine attended a private fundraising event. Then, in Dallas, Texas, a LGBT and Allies event was held featuring a conversation with Vic Holmes, Mark Phariss, and Steve Rudner. In New York City, a Broadway for Hillary event was held. The event featured an appearance by Chelsea Clinton but a number of performances. The performers included: Sara Bareilles, Angela Bassett, Emily Blunt, Matthew Broderick, Ayodele Casel, Alan Cumming, Cynthia Erivo, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Josh Groban, Jake Gyllenhaal, Neil Patrick Harris, Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Sarah Jones, Andrea McArdle, Sienna Miller, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Helen Mirren, Sarah Jessica Parker, Bernadette Peters, and Julia Roberts. HFA Highlights Unprecedented Coordinated Campaign Investments

This morning, Hillary for America Campaign Manager Robby Mook highlighted Hillary for America’s unprecedented coordinated campaign efforts, to date totaling an over $100 million investment, and pointed out additional resources coming in the final weeks to help win Senate, House and governors races in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Missouri and Indiana and states across the country.

On the call, Mook said, “Since the primary concluded, our campaign has been coordinating closely with U.S. Senate, House, Gubernatorial, and state races in the battleground states to build a coordinated campaign that leverages resources to help all candidates.  We set up offices in all 50 states and have devoted intensive resources to 12 states and Maine and Nebraska’s second congressional districts.”

Mook announced new enhanced coordination efforts from Hillary for America:

• An additional six million dollars in mail and digital advertising to get out the vote in the battleground states of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, Iowa, New Hampshire. States with competitive Governor, Senate and House races.
• An additional quarter million dollars in Nebraska and Maine’s second congressional districts.
• An expanded television buy and direct mail and digital advertising program by over two million dollars in Arizona, where Donald Trump’s hateful rhetoric has opened new doors for the Democratic Party.  Mook also announced that on Thursday, First Lady Michelle Obama will host an Early Vote rally in Phoenix. Days after Senator Bernie Sanders and Chelsea Clinton are in the state.
• And a commitment to help Senate and Governor races in Indiana and Missouri with a million-dollar investment to turn Democrats out to vote.

Additionally, Mook pointed out the unprecedented commitment from the top of the ticket in support of down ballot races: the 455 offices in battleground states that are open and available to all Democratic candidates to reduce infrastructure cots; the fact that we have down ballot candidates’ names on phone and door scripts to cross-promote; and that we’ve included candidates in speaking programs for principal trips.

“Bottom line: Donald Trump’s erratic behavior and spiraling campaign have left the Republican party in a civil war…. With signs of high turnout across the country, Democrats have a historic opportunity to elect leaders who will partner with Hillary to create jobs and get incomes rising,” Mook said.

The campaign will continue to evaluate ground investment through Election Day.

HFA Publishes Essay About Email Hack

On Saturday, Hillary for America Senior National Spokesperson Glen Caplin published an essay on Medium about the alleged Russian hacking of the email accounts of the Democratic National Committee and HFA Chair John Podesta. In the essay, Caplin questions what Donald Trump and his campaign knew about the hacking and their connection to it. The article, titled “What did Trump know, and when did he know It?” also questions the connection between Trump advisor Roger Stone WikiLeaks following an interview in which Stone admitted to meeting with sources from WikiLeaks. While the essay asks a lot of questions, it does not accuse anyone of any wrong-doing. Read the full essay HERE.

HFA Statement On U.S. Formally Naming Russia Responsible For Election-Related Hacks

John Podesta, Chair of Hillary of America, released the following statement Friday in response to the U.S. government formally naming the Russian government as responsible for recent hacks intended to interfere with the U.S. presidential election:

“The world now knows, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that the hack of the Democratic National Committee was carried out by the Russian government in a clear attempt to interfere with the integrity of our elections. The only remaining question is why Donald Trump continues to make apologies for the Russians. Trump’s initial reaction to the hack in July was to invite further intrusions by the Russians. Even after he was reportedly briefed on the very findings that were just announced publicly by U.S. government officials, he stood on a debate stage one week ago and played dumb about Russia’s role in this hack. He has repeatedly praised Vladimir Putin, outlined a list of pro-Putin policies, and has done hundreds of millions of dollars of business with Russian interests. Even his own running mate has criticized Putin yet Trump continues to refuse. It should concern every American that Russia is willing to engage in such hostile acts in order to help Donald Trump become President of the United States. But even worse, Trump’s own actions suggests he welcomes the help. If he wants to reassure American voters, he must not only acknowledge and condemn Russia’s role in this outrageous intrusion against U.S. interests, but he must finally disclose the full extent of his ties to Russia and divest any Russian-linked assets.”

Hillary Clinton Interviewed by 11-Year-Old Marley Dias

Elle published a great series of Hillary Clinton’s answers to questions asked by Marley Dias, the 11-year-old creator of #1000BlackGirlBooks, a book drive dedicated to collecting stories about black girls. In the article, Dias explains that she had questions for the Democratic presidential nominee and decided to email them to her, and Clinton responded. The questions Dias asked Clinton include “What is your favorite black girl book,” “Tell me about a time that someone took credit for something you did, and how did you deal with it,” “If you were on a deserted island, what three things would you want to have with you,” and “If you had to give any advice to your 11-year-old self what would you say to her.” Clinton is open and honest in her answers, and she even reveals a story about her running for class president in high school. Bill Clinton and Senators Sanders and Warren Campaign for Hillary

Today, Bill Clinton kicked off his bus tour in Ohio. His first event was a rally in Athens where he spoke to a crowd of supporters about how Hillary Clinton has offered answers during the campaign while her rival, Donald Trump, has only offered anger. “This is a time of resentment for everybody. We are making a terrible mistake spending our time biting each others’ heads off … We ought to be for Hillary Clinton and yourself.” Bill went on to speak about a number of Hillary’s platform points including her focus on the middle class and creating new jobs. A video from the event is below.

Bill then spoke at a rally in Steubenville. During the event, Bill spoke about a number of Hillary’s key platform points and the importance of the 2016 election. Speaking at the Harding Middle School gymnasium, Bill addressed some protesters outside of the venue that were holding signs about coal country. He said, “I saw those signs outside. I just want to say, [Ms. Clinton] was the first and is now the only candidate to say we’ve got to do something about coal country. We’ve got to do something about these rural pockets and these inner cities that have been totally left out of this economic recovery. We’ve got to invest in these areas. You can’t leave anybody behind here. And that’s what this election is about. If we do this we’re going to rise together.” A video from the event will be added when/if available.

In Minnesota, Senator Bernie Sanders campaigned for Hillary in Minneapolis. During the event, Sanders spoke about the importance of the 2016 election and ensuring that Trump is defeated saying, “Our job is to elect Hillary Clinton as president but to also understand that our job is not done just by electing Secretary Clinton. On the day after, we continue the movement. Our job under President Hillary Clinton is to see [the most progressive platform, the Democratic platform] is implemented.” Sanders also spoke about a number of those platform points including reducing the cost of higher education and the debt burden for those who have graduated from college. In the evening, Sanders held a rally in Duluth on the local campus of the University of Minnesota. He spoke about the importance of electing Hillary over Trump because she is supportive of a progressive agenda. Sanders spoke about a number of issues facing the country including affordable college education, helping the middle class, and addressing climate change. Senator Elizabeth Warren and Catherine Corteza Masto spoke at a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada. During her speech, Warren went after Trump for his comments about women and his rants on Twitter. She also attacked Nevada U.S. Senate candidate Joe Heck for supporting Trump and his rhetoric. “Trump calls women fat pigs and bimbos and tries to shame a former beauty pageant winner on Twitter at 3 o’clock in the morning and Joe Heck still sticks with him. If Joe Heck doesn’t have the backbone to stand up to Trump, I guarantee he doesn’t have the backbone to go to D.C. and help Nevada families.” A video from the event will be added when/if available.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, California, a fundraiser was held on behalf of Hillary for America. The event featured a conversation with Mark Cuban and Chris Sacca. Then, in Stockholm, Sweden, a fundraiser was held for American Citizens living in the region. The event included a conversation with Melanne Verveer, former Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, U.S. Department of State.

Chloë Grace Moretz Encourages Young People to Vote

Just a few weeks ago, actress Chloë Grace Moretz announced that she was putting her acting career on hold. At 19, Moretz has already starred in a number of hit movies including “Kick-Ass,” “Kick-Ass 2,” “The Equalizer,” “If I Stay,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” and “Carrie.” So, it came as a surprise to many when she announced in September that she was dropping out of all her future roles to slow down and focus on other endeavors, including producing. But don’t think that she is slowing down.

Moretz is more involved in social activism and the political realm. She was a key speaker at July’s Democratic National Convention, and she has been campaigning for Hillary Clinton at college campuses across the country. This past week, Moretz spoke at voter registration drives at colleges and universities in California and Michigan. She points out this will be her first time voting for president since becoming eligible, and she is proud to be voting for Clinton, the first woman presidential candidate nominated by a major political party. While we she may be taking a break from the big screen, she is focusing her time on issues that matter to her. Moretz has taken control of her career, and she is doing her part to ensure that young people across the country are registered to vote and have a voice in our country’s future.

A Week on the Campaign Trail with Chelsea Clinton

Chelsea Clinton has been on the campaign trail for her mother, Hillary Clinton, since the beginning of this year. She has been a fixture of the Clinton campaign strategy, and the magazine Marie Claire was given an exclusive behind the scenes look at life on the campaign trail. Chelsea kept a detailed journal of one week on the campaign trail for the magazine. And the week Marie Claire followed Chelsea wasn’t just any week, it was the week of the Democratic National Convention in late July. The week Hillary become the first woman ever nominated to be president by a major political party. Bill, Chelsea Campaign for Hillary

On Wednesday, both Bill and Chelsea Clinton were on the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton. In Las Vegas, Nevada, Bill spoke for over half an hour about a wide variety of topics including Hillary’s email scandal, Donald Trump’s immigration proposals, and Hillary’s plan to create millions of jobs across the country. Bill also addressed his wife’s health issues saying, “She’s feeling great, and I think she’ll be back out there tomorrow [Thursday in North Carolina]. It’s a crazy time we live in, you know, when people think there’s something unusual about getting the flu. Last time I checked, millions of people were getting it every year.” A video of Bill’s speech is below.

Chelsea campaigned for Hillary today in North Carolina and Virginia. Wrapping up a two-day visit to North Carolina, Chelsea began in Raleigh where she took part in a panel of local leaders. She spoke about the importance of North Carolina in the November election and how her mother is relying on them to get out and vote. Then, in Carrboro, Chelsea spoke at a voter registration outside the local Democratic Party headquarters. She, again, spoke about the importance of voting in the November election.

She then tour a pre-k center before speaking at an organizing event in Roanoke, Virginia. Chelsea spoke about her mother’s college affordability plan which would reduce the amount of debt owed by those currently paying on student loans and ensure that future students, with family incomes of under $125,000, can finish college debt free. Chelsea said that Hillary wants to help young people build a future and reducing college debt is a big part of that plan. “We have to make investments in our young people from the beginning and then, all the way through,” she said. Meanwhile, a fundraiser was held in Washington, DC on behalf of Hillary for America. The event featured a conversation with Senator Debbie Stabenow, Senator Sherrod Brown, Senator Joe Donnelly, Senator Heidi Heitkamp, and Senator Tammy Baldwin.
