Clinton Calls on Sanders to Join MSNBC Debate

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton spoke to MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews via telephone. They discussed a proposed Democratic debate that would be televised by MSNBC. The debate would be held on February 4th in New Hampshire, only 5 days before the New Hampshire primary. Clinton urged the Democratic National Committee to agree to sponsor the debate. Bernie Sanders has said that he would not participate in a debate not sanctioned by the DNC, but Clinton is hopeful that the DNC and his campaign could work things out. She said, “Look, I’m ready for the debate and I hope Senator Sanders will change his mind and join us. I think the DNC and the campaigns should be able to work this out.  I’ve been for, you know, for a long time, that I’d be happy to have more debates and I hope we can get this done.” You can watch the interview by CLICKING HERE.

Clinton Returns to Campaign Trail Following Testimony

Following her 10+ hours of testimony before Congress yesterday, Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to the campaign trail today. She began by attending the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C. She addressed a number of topics and took a shot at her Democratic challenger Bernie Sanders on gun control. He has made comments about people “shouting” about gun control, and that shouting doesn’t get anything done. Clinton addressed his comments today by saying, “I am not shouting. It is just when women talk, some people think we are shouting.” Clinton was the final speaker this morning and spoke about about twenty minutes. A video of the speech is below.

Clinton then went to Virginia where she appeared with Governor Terry McAuliffe at a rally in Alexandria. McAuliffe introduced Clinton saying that she is a poised leader and that she will fight for Virginians and Americans. Clinton then took the stage and spoke about her record as a progressive, but a progressive who is open to ideas and willing to work with others. She then encouraged Virginia voters to turn out in state-wide election on November 3. The grass roots event was attended by a large crowd outside of Alexandria City Hall. She promised to fight for everyone as President saying, “Your fights are my fights and I won’t quit until all Americans have a chance to get ahead and stay ahead.” A video of the speech is below.

Clinton Speaks at DNC Event

On Friday, Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the summer meeting of the Democratic National Committee. After being introduced by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Clinton gave a fiery speech in which she talked about key components of her platform, attacked Republicans for being the party of the past, and made it clear that she she should be the only choice for Democrats in 2016. She said, “This election is about who best understands the pressures facing the families of America and the challenges facing us in the world, and who has the skills and tenacity to tackle them.” Following her speech, Clinton answered a number of questions from reporters.

Democratic Primary Debate Schedule Announced

Democratic Debate in Iowa on December 13, 2007

On Thursday, the Democratic National Committee and CNN announced that the first of six Democratic party debates will be held on October 13. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Lincoln Chafee, Jim Webb, and Marin O’Malley are expected to take part.

There five other debates are outlined below:

• November 14: CBS, KCCI, and The Des Moines Register in Iowa
• December 19: ABC and WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire
• January 17: NBC and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute in Charleston, South Carolina
• February or March: Univision and The Washington Post in Miami, Florida
• February or March: PBS in Wisconsin.
