Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Los Angeles Area

On Friday, Hillary Clinton held four campaign events in the Los Angeles, California area. Her first event was in Culver City and featured appearances by Elizabeth Banks, Sophia Bush, Michelle Kwan, Debra Messing, Mary Steenburgen, and Sally Field. Each actress took a few minutes to speak about why they supported Clinton. When Clinton took the stage, she stressed the importance of the 2016 election and defeating Republican nominee Donald Trump. Clinton concluded by asking for voters’ support in Tuesday’s primary saying, “Starting next Tuesday, we’re on our way to breaking the highest and hardest glass ceiling.” A video from the event is below.

She then traveled to Westminster where she spoke with supporters at a Get Out the Vote rally. During her speech, she spoke about a number of platform points including expanding health care, passing immigration reform, and lowering the cost of higher education. She continued to go after Trump saying that he has “set a very bad example” for not condemning violence at a number of his rallies. Clinton said that she does not want her supporters to provoke violence, but to be respectful of others. She said, “I don’t think any of this helps anybody.” Clinton went on to criticize a number of Trump’s proposals and comments before asking for voters’ support on June 7.

Clinton met with community leaders in Santa Ana. She gave a brief speech to the supporters present before sitting down with a group of city leaders and business owners to discuss local and national issues. The listening event has been a staple of Clinton’s 2016 campaign, and she has held at least one a day during this trip to California. The final event of the day was a Get Out the Vote rally in San Bernardino, a city still recovering the December 2015 terror inspired mass shooting. Clinton’s speech focused on national security and her vow to do everything she can to keep America and Americans safe from foreign and domestic threats. She said, “I want you to know from the bottom of my heart I will do whatever I can to protect America and Americans and do whatever I can to support our brave law enforcement, who were there protecting people right in this city.” Clinton discussed a number of other platform points during her 30-minute speech before asking for voters’ support in the state’s primary on Tuesday. Hillary Clinton Kicks Off Five Days of California Campaigning

After delivering her major foreign policy speech in San Diego, Clinton continued her campaign in California by speaking at a Get Out the Vote rally in El Centro. During her speech, Clinton praised the area’s agricultural economy and spoke about her plans for comprehensive immigration reform in addition to a number of her platform points including continuing to expand health care and her vow to work with Republicans who are willing to work with her. She then asked for voters’ support in next Tuesday’s primary saying that the 2016 election is going to be very important. A video from the event is below.

Clinton wrapped up the day by visiting with community leaders in Perris. During the round table conversation, Clinton spoke about the importance of education and her dedication to lowering the cost of higher education and expanding early childhood education. She stressed making education affordable for everyone saying, “I don’t offer free college to everybody. I figure, if you can afford it — if you are billionaire or a millionaire — you should pay for it. But that’s not true to most middle-class working or striving families. Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Leadership PAC Endorses Hillary Clinton

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton officially received the endorsement of the Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Leadership PAC. At an event in San Gabriel, California, the group announced their endorsement of Clinton for President of the United States. Among those in attendance for the event were Congresswoman Judy Chu, Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui, and other elected officials from the state of California. In a statement, Clinton said that she was honored to be endorsed by the group and she vowed to work with them to move the country forward. A copy of Clinton’s statement is below:

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Leadership PAC, which has been fighting for the AAPI community for decades.

As both First Lady and Senator from New York, I was proud to work with the AAPI community to build a fairer, freer, more tolerant and more inclusive America. During the 90s, the Clinton Administration launched the first-ever White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, so the federal government would be more deliberate about helping all parts of the AAPI community succeed. In the Senate, I fought to reduce the backlog for family visas and reunite immigrant families.

As President, I will fight alongside the AAPI community to at last pass comprehensive immigration reform with a path to full and equal citizenship. Still today, applicants from the Asia-Pacific region make up about 40 percent of the family visa backlog, and too many have waited decades to have the chance to be back with their families. Millions of people are eligible to become citizens and deserve the opportunity, but face real barriers to taking those last steps to naturalization. We can and we must address these challenges.

We will defend the Affordable Care Act and continue to improve it, by capping out-of-pocket costs, taking on runaway prescription drug prices, and continuing to expand enrollment. Hillary Clinton Campaigns for an Extra Day in California

On Friday, Hillary Clinton spent an extra day in California. The event she attended was a discussion with community leaders in Oakland. Meeting at a local restaurant called Home of Chicken and Waffles, Clinton and a group of local officials and business owners discussed what the federal government can do to help local governments. Describing the purpose of the meeting she said, “I want to know how the federal government and me, particularly, can be a better partner. I want to be a champion for Oakland and all the other Oaklands in the country.” The group discussed a number of topics from wages, jobs, urban policy, and urban renewal. She admitted that there aren’t easy answers for every problem at the local level, but decisions made at the local level are very important. The panel consisted of Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan, Oakland Unified School District Superintendent Antwan Wilson, Regina Jackson, CEO of the East Oakland Youth Development Center, and Derreck Johnson, owner of the Home of Chicken and Waffles.

Hillary Clinton Wraps up Three Days of Campaigning in California

On Thursday, Hillary Clinton wrapped up a three day campaign trip to California. She began in Las Vegas, Nevada, however, where she attended the United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Legislative and Political Affairs Conference. During her speech, Clinton said that Republican nominee Donald Trump is an urgent threat to workers’ rights. She said, “I’ve heard over and over again there has never been more at stake for working families in America than there is right now.” Clinton spoke about her plans to support labor unions, grow the middle class, and focus on the creation of new jobs. Clinton then traveled to San Jose where she spoke at an organizing event. She spoke about Trump again and since he is now the Republican nominee as he has secured the required number of delegates, the stakes of the 2016 election could not be higher. She spoke about a number of her platform points including defending women’s rights, fighting for equal pay, raising the minimum wage, continuing to improve the Affordable Care Act, and lowering the cost of higher education. Clinton then asked for voters’ support during the primary on June 7.

Clinton’s final event of the day was a Get Out the Vote event in San Francisco. During the event, Clinton focused on the issues and her platform proposals. She spoke about making college debt free, making community colleges free, raising the minimum wage, investing in clean energy, and continuing to improve the health care system. Clinton went on to explain why the 2016 election is so important and why electing a Democrat is so important. “Our economy does better when we have a Democrat in the White House,” she said. Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hillary in Albuquerque

On Wednesday, Bill Clinton campaigned on behalf of Hillary in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Speaking to supporters at the local community center, Bill focused on Hillary’s experience and her plans to ensure that everyone has equal opportunity. Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hillary in California

On Wednesday, Bill Clinton spoke at two organizing events in California. During his first event in San Diego, he spoke about Hillary Clinton’s plans for the future including health care, gun control, growing the economy, and creating new jobs. He said, “She’s got the best ideas to restore the middle class and restore upward mobility, both from poverty and working class into the middle class, and up. She’s got the best ideas to reduce inequality and increase investment in America.” He urged voters to come out and support Hillary on June 7, no matter the delegate lead she has over Democratic rival Bernie Sanders.

Later in the day, Clinton spoke to supporters in Koreatown in Los Angeles. He spoke about a number of Hillary’s platform points including gun control, the economy, and the jobs. Clinton spoke about their relationship with Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities and Hillary’s goal to bring people together and not divide people. He asked for voters support in the upcoming primary saying, “This is important for her, as well as for me, for our lifetime of work, for me to be here today and to look at your faces and to know that you have her back and you’re going to support her. Several fundraisers were held today on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was an event at the home of Bob and Liz Pozen in Boston, Massachusetts. The evening featured a conversation with campaign chair John Podesta. The second event was held in New York City. It was hosted at the home of Paul Boskind and featured Emmy Award Winning Actors Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly and Executive Producer Barney Rosenzweig.

Hillary Clinton Campaigns in WV,OH, Sits Down with MSNBC

On Tuesday, while voters in Indiana headed to the polls in their primary, Hillary Clinton attended events in West Virginia and Ohio. She began in Charleston, West Virginia where she took part in a discussion that addressed addiction and the drug epidemic plaguing West Virginia. Clinton listened as several people told their stories, and she spoke about her plans to combat the drug epidemic that is an issue across the country. Clinton spoke about her plan to combat addiction and provide assistance to those recovering from it.

Clinton then went to Athens, Ohio where she offered a optimistic view of the future and covered a number of her platform points that will ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to rise. She spoke about plans to help local job creation, investments in education and training programs, and her plan to offer community college for free. She said, “I will fight for you and your families every day, whether you vote for me or not. I will be your partner and I will not for one moment give up,” Clinton recognizes that she faces an uphill battle attracting voters in Appalachia, but she will fight for everyone including those who “may find it hard to vote for any Democrat or for me in particular.” Videos from today’s events will be added when/if available.

Today, Clinton was also interviewed by Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC. During the interview, Clinton said that she is focused on the general election and campaigning against Republican front runner Donald Trump. She said, “I think that’s where we have to be, because we’re going to have a tough campaign against a candidate who will literally say or do anything. And we’re going to take him on at every turn on what’s really important to the people of our country.” Mitchell asked Clinton questions about a number of other topics including her Democratic opponent Bernie Sanders, the protesters she encountered in West Virginia, the continued FBI investigation into her email, and her speeches to Goldman Sachs. Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hillary in Indiana

On Saturday, Bill Clinton campaigned for Hillary Clinton in Indiana ahead of Tuesday’s primary. This morning, Bill attended the Howard County Democratic Party’s Pre-Primary Pancake Breakfast in Kokomo. He spoke briefly about Hillary’s platform plans and criticized Republicans for their constant attacks on Hillary. He focused on manufacturing, a topic that is very important to Indianans. He said, “One of the most interesting victories she had in this election was in Ohio. She won by twice the margin she was predicted to win by because they were interested in building tomorrow’s manufacturing economy, not pretending we could go back to yesterday.” A video of his speech is below.

In Fort Wayne, Bill spoke to Hillary’s supporters saying that she was the most prepared candidate to be prepared. After being introduced by Mayor Tom Henry, Indiana Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly and former Indiana governor and U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh, Bill spoke about a number of Hillary’s platform points including health care, higher education, and the economy. Bill’s final event of the day was in Gary where he spoke to a crowd of supporters at 504 Broadway. He spoke about Hillary’s experience and her drive to change things saying, “You need a change maker, not a change talker.” He also spoke about a number of her platform points including health care, economic growth, jobs, gun control, and the cost of higher education. Bill spoke about the importance of the 2016 election and asked for voters’ support on Tuesday.

Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hillary in Pennsylvania

Following Hillary Clinton’s primary win in New York, the focus has turned to next week’s primaries. Pennsylvania is one of five states holding a primary on Tuesday, and Bill Clinton was campaigning on behalf of his wife in Johnstown. Speaking with supporters at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Bill spoke about his wife’s experience and qualifications as president. He outlined a number of her platform points including her plans to tackle income inequality, regulate Wall Street shadow banking, reduce student debt, and lower the cost of higher education. On the topic of the rising cost of college, he said, “Anybody that goes to a school with reasonable tuition and a decent graduation rate should qualify for help. Everybody that needs free tuition should get it.” A video of his speech will be added when/if available.

Chelsea Clinton was in Connecticut, another state with a primary next Tuesday, where she attended two fundraisers. The first was in Hartford and included a conversation with Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen. The second event was held in West Hartford. Chelsea attended a fundraiser at the home of Shari and Michael Cantor.

Bill and Chelsea were not the only supporters on the campaign trail for Hillary for America. Wendy Sherman, Former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, attended a fundraiser in Newton, Massachusetts. The event was hosted by Eleanor White and Amb. Barry White (Ret.). In Scranton, Pennsylvania, actress Kathy Najimy and HFA Director of Women’s Outreach Mini Timmaraju attended a fundraiser. The final fundraiser was held in Horsham and was hosted by Jeff Albert, David Broida, Ellen Brookstein, Shelly Waldman, Jill Zipin, and JACPAC. The fundraiser was in support of the Jewish Community for Hillary and included an appearance by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell.
