Hillary Clinton remained in Florida on Sunday where she began the day by attending services at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale. Clinton then went to Wilton Manors for a unity rally at a local gay club. She spoke about her support for the LGBTQ community and equal rights. “I have been fighting for families and underdogs my entire life. I’m not stopping now,” she said. Clinton also spoke about her commitment to an AIDS-free generation. She attacked Donald Trump for his divisive rhetoric and urged everyone to vote on November 8th or to take advantage of early voting. A video from the rally is below.
On Wednesday night, presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump faced off for their final debate before the election on November 8th. The debate was moderated by Fox News’ Chris Wallace, who did a pretty good job of keeping the candidates on topic. The topics covered at the debate included debt, entitlements, immigration, the economy, the Supreme Court, foreign hot spots, and “fitness to be president.” While each candidate took shots at each other, Clinton outlined a number of her proposals. Each candidate wrapped up the final debate with a one-minute closing statement. Clinton asked for America’s vote saying:
“Well, I would like to say to everyone watching tonight that I’m reaching out to all Americans — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. Because we need everybody to help make our country what it should be. To grow the economy, to make it fairer, to make it work for everyone. We need your talents, your skills, your commitment, your energy, your ambition. You know, I’ve been privileged to see the presidency up close and I know the awesome responsibility of protecting our country and the incredible opportunity of working to try to make life better for all of you. I have made the cause of children and families really my life’s work — that’s what my mission will be in the presidency. I will stand up for families against powerful interests, against corporations. I will do everything I can to make sure you have good jobs with rising incomes, that your kids have good educations from preschool through college. I hope you will give me a chance to serve as your president.”
While pundits will argue who won and who lost last night’s debate, what is important is who you feel will best represent you. This political cycle has become more about personality and less about the issues at stake. Both candidates have outlined a series of policies they believe are important to them and that says a lot about their beliefs. What is key is that on November 8, you have a choice. You have a voice at the ballot box and make sure it is heard. Vote.

On Thursday, Hillary Clinton earned the endorsement of The Washington Post. The paper’s editorial board said that they did not reach their decision to back Clinton simply because Donald Trump should not be president, but because she has the experience and knowledge to be president. It is that experience that led the board to conclude, “That presages what Americans might reasonably expect of a Clinton presidency: seriousness of purpose and relentless commitment, even in the face of great obstacles, to achievements in the public interest. We believe that Ms. Clinton will prove a worthy example to girls who celebrate the election of America’s first female president. We believe, too, that anyone who votes for her will be able to look back, four years from now, with pride in that decision.” Read the paper’s full endorsement HERE.
On Thursday, voters in the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. There were many voices arguing for and against the move, but Hillary Clinton had been on the side of the United Kingdom remaining in the EU. Despite the vote, there remains a long process (at least two years) for the UK to leave the EU. Clinton released a statement today in which she said that she respected the choice the people of the UK made, and she wishes to continue the strong relationship between the United States and UK. “We respect the choice the people of the United Kingdom have made. Our first task has to be to make sure that the economic uncertainty created by these events does not hurt working families here in America. We also have to make clear America’s steadfast commitment to the special relationship with Britain and the transatlantic alliance with Europe. This time of uncertainty only underscores the need for calm, steady, experienced leadership in the White House to protect Americans’ pocketbooks and livelihoods, to support our friends and allies, to stand up to our adversaries, and to defend our interests. It also underscores the need for us to pull together to solve our challenges as a country, not tear each other down.”
UPDATE (6/26):
The Clinton campaign has released a national TV ad criticizing Republican Donald Trump’s reaction to the Brexit vote. Trump’s response was not one of concern for how the vote would affect the United States economy or our allies in the European Union and United Kingdom, instead, Trump seemed happy because he felt that his businesses would do better as a result of the weakening of the British Pound.
