Bill Clinton, Anne Holton Campaign for Hillary

On Wednesday, Bill Clinton campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton in Iowa. His first stop was in Indianola where he spoke about a number of Hillary’s platform points before challenging Donald Trump’s vision of America. Bill criticized the Trump campaign for its “venom and poison and nastiness,” and he also went after the campaign’s slogan “make America great again.” Bill said he did not like what that implied saying, “That’s an economic and a social message. It is (a message that says), ‘We’ve become too diverse and I’ll move you back up the social totem pole and give you the economy you had 50 years ago.’” Following the event, Bill traveled to his next stop, but made a surprise stop for coffee in Ames. Bill’s final event of the day was an organizing event in Waterloo. Speaking for nearly an hour, he spoke about a number of Hillary’s platform points saying that while there has been progress, some people are not seeing it. But Bill said that he does not buy into Trump’s vision of America. “I have heard now for a year and a half how terrible America is, how we’re going to hell in a handbasket, how we’re being by overrun by people from somewhere else, and it’s us against them. So, here we are in Waterloo, you’ve got an African-American mayor. I met in the line people associated with every religion, from at least five different European countries … and at least two Muslims. That’s America,” he said. Bill called for an inclusive country saying that our diverse population is our country’s biggest asset. A video from the event is below.

Anne Holton, meanwhile, spoke at events in Manchester and Salem, New Hampshire. During each event, Holton focused on Hillary’s platform plans to expand education for the youngest Americans as well as those who are going to college. Holton, the former Secretary of Education for Virginia, has been holding roundtable events for the campaign since her husband, Tim Kaine, was announced as Hillary’s running mate. Hillary Clinton Interviewed on Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis

This week’s episode of Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis features an interview with Hillary Clinton. During the hilarious mock interview, Galifianakis asks Clinton about the Trans Pacific Partnership and what she would do if Donald Trump wins the presidency. He also asked a number of snarky questions such as what it was like being President Barack Obama’s secretary and how he took his coffee. Galifianakis wrapped up the interview by asking, “What’s the best way to reach you? Email?” Watch the full interview below.

Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hillary in Ohio

On Saturday, Bill Clinton campaigned on behalf on Hillary Clinton at three events across Ohio. Rallying crowds before this Tuesday’s primary, Clinton flew in to Portsmouth where he stopped for coffee and visited with local residents and kids from the Autism Project of Southern Ohio. He then went to his first rally in Cincinnati where he focused on Hillary’s plans to help those in Ohio and across the country. He said that she is the best presidential candidate to raise wages and break down racial, social, and economic barriers. He also took a shot at the Republican race for president saying it was like watching a “sixth-grade playground fight.”

This afternoon, Bill attended a rally in Akron where he cautioned the crowd in regards to the recent violence at a number rallies held by Republican front-runner, Donald Trump. Clinton referenced a conversation he once had with Nelson Mandela to make his point that anger and violence is not the answer to our problems. Mandela famously forgave those who imprisoned him in South Africa, but even he admitted there was a time when he hated them. Clinton said that Mandela told him, “I realized they could take everything from me except my mind and my heart. Those things I would have to give away. And I decided not to give them away. And then he looked at me and said ‘neither should you’.”

Clinton’s final event of the day was a Get Out the Vote rally in Toledo.  During the event the at University of Toledo, Clinton was joined by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly. The focus of the conversation was gun violence and the need for strict background checks for all purchasers of firearms. Clinton said Hillary would stand up to the NRA and protect innocent victims of gun violence by ensuring that guns to do wind up in the wrong hands. Clinton Goes to Iowa – Day 1

Hillary Rodham Clinton kicked off her campaign by traveling (in a van she has nick-named “Scooby”) to Iowa. She made several appearances in the cities of Mount Vernon and Monticello. Instead of making stump speeches or meeting with donors, Clinton opted to meet with people going about their day. She stopped in and chatted with patrons at at least two coffee shops, walked down the street of LeClaire meeting with passers by and business owners, and she took part in a roundtable discussion with students at Kirkwood Community College. It is clear that Clinton’s early focus is reaching out to voters.

In her discussion at Kirwood Community College, Clinton began to outline her political platform referring to what she calls the “four big fights that I think we have to take on, because there are those who don’t agree with what I think we should be doing, and they’re pretty powerful forces.” The four big fights she referred to are: building an economy for America’s future, strengthening families and communities, reforming campaign finance, and continuing to focus on national security. Clinton will continue to flesh out her platform over the coming months.

Campaign for Governor Pat Quinn (IL)

Hillary Rodham Clinton made a brief campaign visit with Governor Pat Quinn of Illinois. The two made brief remarks at the DePaul bookstore in Chicago. The two visited with students and shared a Starbucks Coffee. Clinton urged the students to vote and let their voices be heard in the upcoming mid-term elections.
