Senator Bernie Sanders held a Get Out the Vote Rally today in Flagstaff, Arizona. The event is the first in a series of rallies that will be held in the state by Hillary for America. During the event on the campus of Northern Arizona University, Sanders spoke about the importance of electing Hillary Clinton in a few weeks. He also spoke about a number of her platform points, including her plan to ensure that college students are able to graduate debt free. Sanders then urged the students to get out and vote on November 8th. A video from the rally is below.
Meanwhile, three fundraisers where held on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was in Boston, Massachusetts and featured a conversation with Padma Lakshmi. The next event was in Brooklyn, New York and featured a number of local Democratic Party officials including Marlon Marshall, Director of State Campaigns and Political Engagement, Basil Smikle, Executive Director of the New York State Democratic Party, and Julissa Ferreras, New York City Council Member. The final event was in West Hollywood, California and included President Obama’s former speechwriter Jon Favreau. The event also included a special performance by Moby.
Tim Kaine wrapped up a visit to Nevada this morning with an event in Henderson at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. While Kaine spoke about he and Hillary Clinton’s platform, he primarily focused on health care during the event. He spoke about Clinton’s proposals to give tax credits to caregivers, provide grants to researchers to find a cure for Alzheimer’s, combat the rising costs of prescription drugs, and protect Medicare and Social Security. On Wednesday, Chelsea Clinton campaigned on behalf of her mother, Hillary Clinton, in Iowa. She spoke at events in Dubuque and Sioux City, and focused on the importance of voting at both. She encouraged everyone who is unable to vote on November 8 to take advantage of early voting in Iowa, which is currently under way. Chelsea also spoke about a number of her mother’s platform points including reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs, continuing to improve the health care system, and Hillary’s plans to help rural Americans. At each event, Chelsea also took questions from those in attendance. Videos from the events will be added when/if available.
Senator Bernie Sanders campaigned for Hillary today in Iowa and Wisconsin. His first event was in Des Moines where he spoke to supporters at Drake University. During the event, Sanders spoke about Hillary’s economic plan and her proposals to ensure a college education is affordable, help students who are in debt refinance at lower interest rates, create new jobs across the country by investing in the country’s infrastructure and expanding clean energy. Sanders also stressed the importance of the election urging everyone to get out and vote. A video of Sanders’ speech is below.
Sanders then traveled to Madison, Wisconsin for an event supporting both Hillary and U.S. Senate candidate Russ Feingold. Sanders said that he supports Hillary because she supports a progressive platform and will fight for it as president. He then outlined a number of the issues she will work on as president including raising the minimum wage, creating a public option for health care, reforming the criminal justice system, and implementing campaign finance reform. He stressed that Hillary is better then the alternative, Republican Donald Trump, saying, “We will not allow bigotry to resurface in the United States of America. Sanders’ final event of the day was in Green Bay where he continued to focus on Clinton’s dedication to progress. He spoke about similar points as he had in Des Moines and Madison earlier in the day, but the Senator was greeted warmly. Sanders, an Independent from Vermont, has been on the campaign trail for Hillary since the Democratic National Convention in July. As Hillary’s former rival for the Democratic nomination, he has repeatedly said that he is dedicated to electing Hillary president in November. Meanwhile, a series of fundraisers were held across the country in support of Hillary for America. The first was in Washington, DC and featured Hillary Clinton, Eva Longoria, Julianna Margulies, and special performance by Estelle. The next event was in San Francisco, California and featured a conversation with Senator Elizabeth Warren. Then, in St. Augustine, Florida, an event was held at the home of Dawn and Patrick Canan. The event featured a conversation with Congresswoman Gwen Graham. The final event was a fundraiser for American citizens in London featuring Melanne Verveer, former Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, U.S. Department of State.
On Sunday, Hillary Clinton spent the day in Charlotte, North Carolina. Clinton had planned on visiting Charlotte a week ago, but due to the unrest in the city and limited resources, Mayor Jennifer Roberts asked that she delay her trip until local authorities had a better handle on the situation. The protests in the city followed the death of Keith Lamont Scott who was shot by a Charlotte police officer. A video of Scott’s encounter with police was released by the police department earlier this week.
In Charlotte, Clinton spoke during Sunday morning church services at Little Rock AME Zion Church today. She spoke about the need for additional police training to ensure situations are deescalated. She also spoke about a number of her plans such as criminal justice reform and reducing the cost of higher education, both she said would benefit the African American community and end the “so-called school to prison pipeline.” She also criticized Donald Trump’s tone deaf response to shootings such as the one in Charlotte. Before she completed her remarks, Clinton invited Zionna Oliphant, a local fourth-grader, to join her. Oliphant recently spoke about race relations in Charlotte before the City Council. Clinton said, “Protecting all of God’s children is our calling.” While in Charlotte, Clinton also met with with local officials. A video of Clinton’s remarks is below.
Meanwhile, in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, Senator Cory Booker spoke at a fundraiser on behalf of Hillary for America.
On Sunday, Hillary Clinton was in northern California where she began the morning by attending Sunday services at the Greater St. Paul Church in Oakland. She spoke with the congregation briefly saying that, if elected president, she will ask herself everyday, “What can I do that day to make it possible for every child to live up to their God-given potential?” Clinton spoke about a number of key issues she would like to address including raising the minimum wage, creating jobs, reducing gun violence, and reforming the criminal justice system. She said that America is at its best when everyone works together to achieve a common goal, and divisive politics is not helping anyone. She vowed to work with members of both parties to continue the progress of the last eight years. A video of Clinton’s address is below:
Clinton then attended a round table discussion with city leaders in Vallejo. Meeting at a local restaurant, Clinton first spoke about a number of topics she believes to be central to the 2016 election. She spoke about her plans for immigration reform, criminal justice reform, education, and health care. She then listened to the concerns of local city leaders and business owners. Each day, Clinton has held at least one round table discussion because she believes they are important. “I do think it’s important to hear from people directly,” she said. Clinton stressed the importance of a community to work together toward common goals, and she said that while the state and federal governments have a role, local decisions are very important. Her final event was a rally in Sacramento where she spoke to a crowd of supporters at Sacramento City College. During her speech, Clinton took a number of shots at Republican nominee Donald Trump, but she did so while covering a number of key platform points. She spoke about her plans to grow the economy and create jobs, assist those with mental health, help those suffering from addiction, and combat climate change. Clinton concluded by asking for voters’ support in Tuesday’s primary. A video from the event will be added when/if available.
On Friday, Hillary Clinton held four campaign events in the Los Angeles, California area. Her first event was in Culver City and featured appearances by Elizabeth Banks, Sophia Bush, Michelle Kwan, Debra Messing, Mary Steenburgen, and Sally Field. Each actress took a few minutes to speak about why they supported Clinton. When Clinton took the stage, she stressed the importance of the 2016 election and defeating Republican nominee Donald Trump. Clinton concluded by asking for voters’ support in Tuesday’s primary saying, “Starting next Tuesday, we’re on our way to breaking the highest and hardest glass ceiling.” A video from the event is below.
She then traveled to Westminster where she spoke with supporters at a Get Out the Vote rally. During her speech, she spoke about a number of platform points including expanding health care, passing immigration reform, and lowering the cost of higher education. She continued to go after Trump saying that he has “set a very bad example” for not condemning violence at a number of his rallies. Clinton said that she does not want her supporters to provoke violence, but to be respectful of others. She said, “I don’t think any of this helps anybody.” Clinton went on to criticize a number of Trump’s proposals and comments before asking for voters’ support on June 7.
Clinton met with community leaders in Santa Ana. She gave a brief speech to the supporters present before sitting down with a group of city leaders and business owners to discuss local and national issues. The listening event has been a staple of Clinton’s 2016 campaign, and she has held at least one a day during this trip to California. The final event of the day was a Get Out the Vote rally in San Bernardino, a city still recovering the December 2015 terror inspired mass shooting. Clinton’s speech focused on national security and her vow to do everything she can to keep America and Americans safe from foreign and domestic threats. She said, “I want you to know from the bottom of my heart I will do whatever I can to protect America and Americans and do whatever I can to support our brave law enforcement, who were there protecting people right in this city.” Clinton discussed a number of other platform points during her 30-minute speech before asking for voters’ support in the state’s primary on Tuesday. On Sunday, Hillary Clinton took a break from the campaign trail to meet with city leaders and residents of Flint, Michigan. Flint has been in the news for its struggle with poor water quality. During a town hall held at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton spoke saying that what is happening in Flint is “immoral.” State officials have been criticized for being slow to act, but Clinton has brought up the struggle of Flint residents several times during the Democratic debates and has sent advisers to the city to keep up to date. Clinton praised Mayor Karen Weaver for her work to help her citizens, and urged Congress to pass a $200 million bill to upgrade the city’s crumbling infrastructure. Hillary for America has updated its website with two new pages. The first is the addition of an Events page where you can search for Hillary for America organization events in your area. You can search by state, city, or zip code to locate events near you. The Events page is a great way to keep in touch with local Clinton supporters and track events in your hometown.
The second addition to the site is a page called The Briefing. As John Podesta wrote in a memo, The Briefing was created to debunk information presented by Republicans and others opposing Clinton. First up is Peter Schweizer’s book, Clinton Cash. The book is advertised as the inside story of foreign donations made to the Clinton Foundation during Clinton’s time as Secretary of State. Many of the allegations have been disproven, but the campaign has vowed to take the claims head-on. You can sign up to receive email updates from The Briefing and can follow its Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages for all the latest.
