Chelsea Clinton Discusses New Book on Today Show

Chelsea Clinton appeared on NBC’s the Today Show earlier this week. During the interview, Chelsea discussed the 2016 presidential election with co-host Savannah Guthrie and her reaction to her mother’s loss. The primary reason for Chelsea’s visit, however, was the release of her new children’s book She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World. Clinton Slams Trump During Speech at Children’s Health Fund

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton was honored by the Children’s Health Fund, and she addressed a gathering of the organization’s members and supporters. During her speech, Clinton criticized President Donald Trump for the budget his administration proposed this week. She said that “this administration and Republicans in Congress are mounting an onslaught against the needs of children and people with disabilities, women and seniors.” The Trump budget calls for cuts in a number of programs that benefit the poor and disabled including food stamps and Medicaid. Clinton urged everyone to stand up to the president and Congressional Republicans saying, “It hurts the well-being of children. It’s time to send a resounding message that we will not stand for this attack on the most vulnerable among us.” Watch a video of Clinton’s speech below.

Clinton Speaks at Children’s Defense Fund Event

On Wednesday evening, Hillary Clinton spoke at a gathering in Washington, DC for the Children’s Defense Fund. It was her first speech since her concession speech a week ago, and she spoke about the election. She said that she understands everyone’s disappointment because she is also disappointed, but she urged everyone to keep fighting. “I know this isn’t easy. I know that over the past week a lot of people have asked themselves whether America is the country we thought it was. The divisions laid bare by this election run deep. But please, listen to me when I say this: America is worth it. Our children are worth it. Believe in our country, fight for our values, and never, ever give up,” she said.

Clinton also spoke about the importance of the Children’s Defense Fund and how no child should grow up living in fear and that “every child deserves the opportunity to live up to his or her potential.” She spoke about her mother’s story of being abandoned as a child and how no child should have to go through that. Clinton Releases Final TV Ad of the Campaign

Hillary Clinton will deliver a special 2-minute national closing message tonight in a television ad that lays out the choice in this election and the type of president she wants to be for the entire country. The 2-minute closing message ad is airing to an estimated 20 million people Monday night during the shows with the largest audience available – the Voice (NBC) and Kevin Can Wait (CBS).

In the personal and positive closing message, Clinton makes the case that people are rejecting a campaign “defined by fear and division” and choosing one that is “hopeful and inclusive.” She also lays out a hopeful future for our country saying she’s “convinced our best days are still ahead of us, if we reach for them together” and pledged to “be a President for all Americans.  Not just those who support me in this election — for everyone.” And, she makes clear her mission as President will be “To give our kids – and every American — the chance to live up to their God-given potential.”

Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Ohio, New Hampshire

Hillary Clinton began the final Sunday before the election in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she spoke at Sunday morning church services at Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ. She urged members of the congregation to get out and vote on Tuesday and presented her optimistic vision for America.

Clinton then held a get out the vote event in Cleveland, Ohio where she appeared with NBA star LeBron James. James introduced Clinton and spoke about his support of Clinton and his foundation which helps inner city kids get ahead. When Clinton began her speech, she praised James for his work with children saying that he does a great job of “using the national platform he earned to advocate for children.” Clinton then spoke about a number of her platform points including expanding early childhood education, creating new jobs, raising the minimum wage, and rebuilding the middle class. She stressed her focus on the middle class saying that we need to “grow our economy from the middle out…not from the top down…” Clinton said that all this can be accomplished without raising taxes on families making less than $250,000 per year. She concluded by urging everyone to consider the future of the country before voting on Tuesday and to ensure that their voice is heard. A video from the event is below.

Clinton then spoke at a get out the vote rally in Manchester, New Hampshire. After being introduced by Khizr Khan, Clinton made her final case for before Tuesday’s election. She spoke about the key points to her platform and her optimistic vision for the future of America. She contrasted that vision with the negative and divisive vision presented by Trump. She concluded her speech by asking everyone to consider the future of our country and vote for her on Tuesday. Watch a video from the event below.

Kaine Encourages Voters in Florida

Tim Kaine returned to Florida on Saturday where he spoke about the importance of the election and Florida’s role on Tuesday. He urged everyone to vote because he wants Hillary Clinton to win Florida. Speaking on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers, Kaine outlined a number of Clinton’s key platform plans including raising the minimum wage, creating new jobs by investing in infrastructure and American manufacturing, and making college more affordable. Kaine concluded by asking everyone to vote adding, “This is my ninth race. I’m 8 and 0, and I’m not planning on losing Tuesday. Here’s what I tell myself in every race I every run: I’m the underdog until they call me the winner.” A video from the event will be added when/if available.

Kaine then spoke at a get out the vote event in Sarasota where he focused on the importance of early voting and defeating Donald Trump. He spoke about the dangers of the vision painted by Trump and offered Clinton’s platform as an optimistic alternative. Kaine said that Clinton has worked her entire life for families and children, and she will not stop once elected. He concluded the event by urging everyone to vote on Tuesday or to take advantage of early voting. “I’m going to just get to the punchline: If you win it in Florida, it’s won,” he said. Chelsea Clinton: Three Reasons to Vote for Hillary

Earlier this week, US Weekly published an article by Chelsea Clinton entitled “3 Reasons to Vote for My Mom.” The magazine asked the daughters of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to write a short article explaining why voters should support their parent, and only Chelsea responded. What Chelsea wrote is below:

1. She cares about children — not just her own (me!).

Growing up, I never doubted I was my mom’s first priority. My mom’s first questions over dinner always focused on what I’d learned that day and what I hoped to learn and do tomorrow. She would then share what she’d worked on as a lawyer and an advocate. I loved knowing what legal aid was in first grade and about health-care reform in eighth grade. I remember being so proud of what my mom was doing to achieve more and better opportunities for all kids, including her efforts to improve public schools in Arkansas.

I have so many memories as a kid of tagging along with my mom to work some Saturdays after my Brownie troop meeting or soccer game — a trade-off she made so she could be at those family dinners, those meetings and those games — and looking up to her (figuratively and literally!) as she worked so hard as a lawyer and champion for kids. My mom ensured I knew how lucky I was. Ensuring that every child has the chance to live up to their God-given potential is the driving motivation of my mom’s life. It’s why she’s still working on paid family and medical leave, early childhood education and health-care reform — and why she’ll combat climate change, make college actually affordable and so much more. She knows the future is at stake for all our kids.

2. She keeps fighting — and never forgets who she is fighting for.

I have seen my mom do some pretty remarkable things — and, yes, I am biased — including helping to create the Children’s Health Insurance Program [or CHIP, which offers low-cost health coverage to children]. In 1994, when I was 14, my mom’s efforts on universal health care were unsuccessful. It was hard to watch, but I wasn’t surprised when my mom didn’t give up. She dusted herself off and got right back out on the front lines to advocate for kids. A few years later [in 1997], CHIP was created. I don’t think it ever occurred to her to stop fighting, because she never forgot what’s at stake. Today, CHIP provides more than 8 million children with the health care they need.

3. She’s an example to girls.

Politics has taken on a new urgency for me since becoming a parent. Politics now feels more personal than ever before because I know who we elect both shapes the legislation that gets passed and sets an example for our children.

So, while I am unabashedly and unapologetically biased toward my mom, I couldn’t imagine a better president for our children and grandchildren. I am going to vote for the candidate whose actions and words tell my daughter, Charlotte, and my son, Aidan — and all children — that a girl can grow up to be president. And that would be true whether or not Hillary was my mom. I can’t wait to cast my vote for her on November 8 and hope you will too.

Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Pittsburgh and Detroit

On Friday, Hillary Clinton campaigned in two battleground states with her first event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Clinton was joined by former Steelers football players Franco Harris and Mel Blount, singer Donnie Iris, and Mark Cuban. Cuban introduced Clinton and attacked Donald Trump saying that “we cannot put our trust in Trump.” Clinton then spoke about a number of her campaign platform points and focused on her plans to create jobs by investing in infrastructure and American manufacturing. She said that as president, she would lead by listening to people and finding common ground, something that she doubts Trump is capable of. Clinton concluded by asking everyone to vote adding, “This is one of those make-or-break moments for the United States. It might be the most important election of our lifetimes.” A video of Clinton’s speech is below.

Clinton then traveled to Detroit, Michigan where she asked everyone to consider what kind of future we want for our country and our children. Do we want Trump’s divisive vision that brings back failed policies? Or would we rather plan for the country’s future by working together and creating an economy for the 21st century that benefit everyone? She outlined a number of her plans, but said that none of it will be possible if Trump is elected. Clinton urged everyone to get out and vote saying, “You have to vote. Our progress is on the line. Chelsea Clinton Campaigns in New Hampshire

On Friday, Chelsea Clinton campaigned for her mother at events in Keene and Hanover, New Hampshire. At each event, Chelsea spoke about her mother and how she has spent her entire life focusing on bettering the lives of women, children, and families across the country and around the world. She said that Hillary Clinton’s platform is more comprehensive and more inclusive than plans proposed by Donald Trump. Chelsea urged everyone to get out and vote saying, “For me, this election is first and foremost about my children and about the country, the world, and the future that I want for them and their generation to grow up in.” A video from the event in Keene is below.

Meanwhile, in Boston, Massachusetts, a fundraiser was held on behalf of Hillary for America. The event featured a conversation with Cher.

Tim Kaine and Anne Holton Campaign for Hillary

On Thursday, Tim Kaine campaigned in Arizona as he spoke at two events. His first stop was in Phoenix where he spoke to members of the Hispanic community. Giving his speech entirely in Spanish, Kaine spoke about Hillary Clinton’s plan for comprehensive immigration reform and her dedication to families. He also spoke about the dangers of Donald Trump and blasted his anti-immigrant rhetoric saying that diversity is what makes America the great country it is. He said, “With so much at stake for the Hispanic community, it’s important that our campaign use the language that so many families around the country use.” A video of Kaine’s speech (dubbed in English) is below.

Kaine’s final event of the day was a Get Out the Vote rally in Tucson. During his speech, Kaine spoke about the importance of Arizona to Clinton. He said that recent polls indicate that she and Kaine could defeat Trump in the state. He focused on key points of Clinton’s platform including immigration reform and creating jobs. He said that she will fight for everyone adding, “She would not give up, back down, go away, or sell her principles short.” He concluded by asking everyone to get out and vote for Clinton on election day. “This election is less about where we going but who we are as a nation. Are we going to say it’s it OK to divide up against each other and insult each other? No, I embrace we are stronger together,” Kaine said. A video from the event will be added when/if available.

Anne Holton was on the campaign trail on Thursday and spoke at events in Toledo, Ohio and Reno, Nevada. At each event, Holton spoke about Clinton’s platform points and her dedication to expanding early childhood education and making college more affordable.
