Hillary for America Releases New Campaign Ads

Hillary for America has released a series of new campaign ads focused on Republican Donald Trump and the importance of the 2016 election. The first ad was posted on Twitter and is titled “America’s Bully.” The video outlines Trump’s bully tactics and features Tomas Wilson, who played Biff Tannen in Back to the Future and other movies bullies. The second video features Khizr Khan, father of Captain Humayun Khan, who tragically lost his life in Iraq while saving every member of his unit. The next video is the story of Ryan and his friendship with Hillary Clinton. The two met during a Congressional hearing on health care in 1994. Next is a video about Martha and Sara, a mother and daughter who were affected by Clinton’s efforts to pass the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Then, HFA released a video titled “A Place for Everyone” that features a voice over by Clinton explaining that the United States is still a place where everyone can prosper. Next, is a video from The Briefing reviewing Trump’s dangerous policies before Wednesday’s debate, then a video urging Americans to Google Trump’s claims. The next video features The Good Wife actor Josh Charles and encourages lawyers and law students to get involved in the campaign. The final video is a Spanish language video outlining the importance of the election to those in the Latino community.

National Leaders Reject Donald Trump’s Outreach Effort to African Americans

Following Donald Trump’s efforts to reach out to African American communities, Hillary for America released the following statements from African American leaders across the country.

After a campaign spent courting white supremacists and playing into misleading stereotypes about people of color, today in Detroit, Donald Trump addressed a predominantly African American audience for the first time.

While Trump can attempt to reach out to African Americans, he has proven to the community time and again that he is unfit to be president and he has no interest in working with the African American community.

National leaders are rejecting Trump’s scripted conversation and his staged outreach to the Black community.

“Whether he is embracing policies that preserve privilege for those at the top or spewing rhetoric that demeans Americans, Donald Trump has shown us that he wants to roll back the progress we have witnessed over the past eight years. Trump is running around the country riling up his supporters declaring that he wants to ‘take our country back.’ I have news for Mr. Trump, the hateful groups he has courted and now represents can never have this country again. We are moving forward together, and we refuse to allow him to take us back.” –Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-MO)

“Donald Trump’s visit to Detroit is tantamount to a wolf visiting a sheep farm to lead a discussion on Let Me Be Your Leader To Greener Pastures. It is the old southern strategy of Nixon, Bush and Reagan, wrapped up in a new an un-improved version of divide and conquer the Black and moderate white votes. Let’s talk about law and order for you, bad economic times for you but no specific plan of action from me. He is talking over, around and through Black people but not to Black people. Hillary Clinton Campaigns in New York

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton spent the morning in Harlem where she met with Rep. Charles Rangel at Make My Cake Bakery. She then held a rally at the famed Apollo Theater in the early afternoon. After being introduced by New York Senator Charles Schumer, Clinton delivered a speech in which she criticized the Republican presidential candidates for being “in over their heads” on national security. She also called out her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders for a number of his plans saying that while they share many of the same goals, her proposals are more realistic and more likely to get passed than his. She spoke about a number her platform topics including heath care, the economy, and the importance of the 2016 election. Referring to New York City, she added, “This is a city that likes to get things done. And that’s what we want from our president too.” A full video of her speech is below.

While in New York City, Clinton attended two fundraisers. The first was a reception held at the home of Ruth Porat and Anthony Paduano. The second event was hosted by LGBT for Hillary at Capitale in New York City. As with all private events, they were closed to the press.
