HFA Statement On Trump’s Latest Insult To U.S. Military

hillary-logo-jpg-crop-thumbnail-small

Wednesday, Lt. Gen. John Castellaw released the following statement in response to Trump’s comment that he could ‘sit down and teach a couple things’ to former Army War College dean and retired Army Colonel, Jeff McCausland:

“Donald Trump’s disrespect for our military knows no bounds. This week, as brave American troops embarked on a crucial mission supporting anti-ISIS forces in Iraq, Trump was already declaring defeat. He called our leaders stupid for not following his uninformed advice. And now he’s personally insulting a military expert and retired Army Colonel who served for 30 years for knocking his ‘plan.’”

“A complex operation to take a major city – with hundreds of thousands of civilians, untold traps and IEDs, and the possibility of street-to-street fighting – requires careful planning and methodical execution, not a fly-by-night bum’s rush.”

“But sadly, none of this is surprising coming from Donald Trump. Over the course of this campaign, he has claimed to know more about military operations than our generals do. He has mocked U.S. prisoners of war. He has insulted Gold Star families. He has joked about how he always wanted a Purple Heart. He has never apologized for any of it. He calls our military a ‘disaster’ and then turns around and asks the country to make him our Commander-in-Chief. It’s a disgrace, and we can never let him assume that sacred role.”

Lt. Gen. John Castellaw, USMC (ret) led Marines around the world for 36 years while flying more than two dozen different types of aircraft.  Castellaw served with the UN during the Siege of Sarajevo, commanded the American force in the multi-national security and stability operation in East Timor, and as the chief of staff for the U.S. Central Command at the height of the war in Iraq.

Anne Holton, John Legend Campaign for Hillary

On Sunday, as Hillary Clinton prepared for the second presidential debate, Anne Holton was on the campaign trail in Iowa. At two stops, Council Bluffs and Sioux City, Holton spoke about the importance of voting and urged supporters to canvass for Clinton and to take full advantage of Iowa’s early voting. This evening in Des Moines, Holton attended a debate watch party at Creative Visions.

Singer John Legend returned to his home state of Ohio to attend two events on behalf of Clinton. The first was on the campus of Central State University in Dayton where he urged everyone to register to vote by Tuesday’s deadline. He said, “I care so much about what happens to our young people. I care so much about what happens in this area, I care so much about what happens in Ohio, I care so much about the future of this country. That’s why I’m here to get you all to register to vote and hopefully to vote for Hillary Clinton.” Then, he traveled to Cincinnati where he appeared at Bogarts. During the event, he urged everyone to make sure they are registered to vote, then he performed a number of his songs for those in attendance. HFA Statement on Trump’s Comments Related to Central Park Jogger Case

Hillary_for_America_2016_logo.svg

After Donald Trump doubled down his view that the five men convicted and later exonerated on DNA evidence in the Central Park Jogger case are still guilty, Hillary for America Senior Policy Advisor Maya Harris released the following statement:

“The facts here are clear: These men were exonerated. Another man has admitted to committing the crime, as proven by DNA evidence. Trump rushed to judgment on the case, has refused to admit he is wrong and continues to peddle yet another racist lie, a pattern for him and a clear reason why he is unfit to be president.”
