Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Lexington and Louisville

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton held three events in Kentucky while citizens of neighboring West Virginia voted in their Democratic primary. Clinton’s first event was in Lexington where she laid out a new plan to help parents with the rising costs of child care. Speaking at a roundtable event, Clinton outlined the plan and spoke with care providers and parents about the importance of child care and the struggle for many families to find and afford adequate care. The bullet points of the plan includes:

• Improve the quality of care by giving a RAISE (Respect And Increased Salaries for Early Childhood Educators) to America’s child care workforce
• Provide home visiting services for more than 2 million parents and children in the next 10 years
• Support young parents as the balance family responsibilities and their careers
• Award scholarships of up to $1,500 per year to as many as one million student parents
• Increase access to child care on college campuses by serving an additional 250,000 children
• Doubling federal investment in high quality early learning programs
• Making preschool universal for every 4-year old in America
• Proving working parents paid time off to care for a new baby

Clinton then traveled to Louisville where she spoke at a rally. During her speech, Clinton focused on the economy and her plans to raise incomes and create new jobs. She also spoke about a number of other platform points before turning her attention to local politics and her Republican opposition. She criticized Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin for his plans to scrap the state’s health insurance exchanges and the state’s expansion of medicaid, both of which were provided as a result of the Affordable Care Act. Clinton then turned her attention to Republicans and their endless attacks on her career saying, “The right wing never gives up attacking me. I think they are going to throw everything but the kitchen sink at me…I’ve got a message for them. They’ve done it for 25 years and I’m still standing.” A video from the event will be posted when/if available.

In the evening, Clinton spoke at a second organizing event in Louisville. During her speech at Louisville Slugger Field, Clinton took a number of shots at presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump and his disparaging comments about women and minorities. She said, “You could not imagine a more different vision for our country than the one between our side, of Democrats for progress, for prosperity, for fairness and opportunity than the presumptive nominee on the Republican side.” Clinton focused on her plans to continue the progress of President Barack Obama’s administration and ensure that people have access to health care and affordable higher education. Hillary Clinton Unveils Environmental, Immigration Plan Details

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton delivered two major speeches during which she outlined her plans for environmental action and her proposal to create a Department of Immigrant Affairs to help immigrants become American citizens. This morning, Clinton was endorsed by the New York State Immigrant Action Fund, and Clinton attended a round table event during which she discussed her plans for immigration reform. She criticized Republican Donald Trump for his anti-immigration rhetoric and vowed to help immigrants become American citizens. During her remarks, she proposed the introduction of a Department of Immigrant Affairs that would work at all levels of government to assist immigrants and refugees as they settle in the United States.

In the afternoon, Clinton spoke at the National Action Network Convention where she was introduced by Rev. Al Sharpton. Clinton introduced her plan for environmental and climate justice which is a small part of her larger Breaking Every Barrier agenda. The plan not only includes fighting climate change, but eliminating lead as a public health threat. The main points of the plan include:

• Eliminating lead as a major public heath threat within five years
• Protesting public heath and safety by modernizing drinking and wastewater systems
• Prosecuting criminal and civil violations that expose communities to environmental harm and work with Congress to strengthen public health protections in our existing laws
• Creating new economic opportunity through brownfield clean-up and redevelopment
• Reducing urban air pollution by investing in clean power and transportation
• Broadening the clean energy economy, build career opportunities, and combat energy poverty by expanding solar and energy efficiency in low-income communities and communities of color
• Protecting communities from the impacts of climate change by investing in resilient infrastructure
• Establishing an Environmental and Climate Justice Task Force to make environmental and climate justice, including cumulative impacts, an integral part of federal decision-making

Clinton then spoke at an organizing event in the Bronx. During the event, she spoke about a variety of topics including working for New York as senator, improving education, building upon the progress made in heath care, and ensuring that all Americans have an opportunity to prosper. She took the time to point out the differences between her and her Republican rivals, especially front-runner Donald Trump. She said, “He wants to build walls; I want to build bridges.” Clinton went on to ask for everyone’s support during next week’s primary. A video from the event is below.

Bill Clinton Campaigns for Hillary in North Carolina and Florida

On Monday, Bill Clinton was on the campaign trail spending time in two states that hold their primaries tomorrow. He began with a morning Get Out the Vote rally in Greenville, North Carolina. During his speech, he spoke about Hillary’s experience and her career as a change maker. He said that her plans would ensure that everyone had access to the tools necessary to live up to their potential. He then asked North Carolinians to support her in tomorrow’s primary.

Clinton then traveled to Florida where he hosted a rally at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. In his speech, he argued that it is important to keep a Democrat in the White House. He said, “We have 14 million new jobs over the last five years. That’s the most we’ve had since that other Democrat, whatever his name was. And we have 90 percent of our people with health insurance for the first time.” He also criticized the Republican presidential candidates for not sticking to the issues and focusing more on fighting each other. Clinton Campaign Releases New Video

Today, Hillary for America released a video highlighting Hillary Rodham Clinton’s career and tenure as Secretary of State. The five-minute video highlights her choices and accomplishments. A number of people are interviewed for the video including former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, former Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard, former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, Dr. Eric Goosby, and Lt. Women in the World Summit

Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared at the 5th Annual Women in the World Summit in New York City Thursday evening. Clinton appeared on stage with Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund , and spoke about a wide variety of topics including partisanship, the media, Russia, and the portrayal of women. Clinton advised young women who were beginning their careers to be prepared to play “an outside and inside game,” She explained, “On the outside, you have to find ways to raise these issues that are truly rooted in sexism or in old-fashioned irrelevant expectations about women’s lives, not just to score a point but to change a mind.”

Clinton also made headlines when she met members of the Russian band Pussy Riot. Members of the band were imprisoned in Russia in 2012 for protesting and speaking out against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
