Clinton Endorsed by The Dallas Morning News

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton received the endorsement of The Dallas Morning News. While Clinton has been endorsed by a number of newspapers across the county, the endorsement of the Dallas newspaper is important because Clinton is the first Democrat endorsed by the paper in 76 years. The last Democratic presidential candidate to be endorsed by the paper was President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The editorial board said Clinton is the clear choice for president over Republican Donald Trump because of her resume, her judgement, and her history of bipartisan partnerships. “In Clinton’s eight years in the U.S. Senate, she displayed reach and influence in foreign affairs. Though conservatives like to paint her as nakedly partisan, on Capitol Hill she gained respect from Republicans for working across the aisle: Two-thirds of her bills had GOP co-sponsors and included common ground with some of Congress’ most conservative lawmakers,” the board said. Clinton to Testify before House Benghazi Committee

The campaign for Hillary Rodham Clinton announced that Clinton has agreed to appear before the House Benghazi Committee on October 22. The committee has been pressuring Clinton to appear for months and had indicated that they wanted her to testify behind closed doors. Clinton agreed to testify in a public hearing, however. She is expected to be asked about her knowledge of the 2012 attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, and she will also be asked about the personal email server she used while serving as Secretary of State. Clinton Visits Democrats on Capitol Hill

Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to Washington, DC and visited Democrats on Capitol Hill. As a former Senator from New York, Clinton was greeted by Representatives, Senators, and visitors to the Capitol. The purpose of her trip was to meet with a number of groups including: House Democrats, Senate Democrats, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, and the Congressional Progressive Caucus. All the meetings were behind closed doors.

Clinton Address National Council of La Raza Conference

Hillary Rodham Clinton addressed the National Council of La Raza Conference in Kansas City, Missouri this afternoon. During her speech, she built upon her economic speech from earlier in the day and referenced the economic inequality in the Latino community. She promised to fight for better economic opportunities and comprehensive immigration reform.

Clinton was not the only Democratic presidential candidate to speak at the conference. Senator Bernie Sanders and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley were also featured speakers. All three candidates spoke about the similar topics, and all three attacked Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for his comments disparaging Latino  immigrants. Trump’s presidential opponents were slow to speak out against his comments, a fact which Clinton called out asking, “Why did it take weeks for most of you to speak out?”
