Wednesday night’s events at the Democratic National Convention included the acceptance speech of Senator Tim Kaine as the party’s vice presidential candidate. In his speech, Kaine thanked his family before “humbly” accepting the nomination. He spoke about Hillary Clinton’s experience and why the 2016 election is vital for the country. A video biography of Kaine and a video of his speech are below.

Speakers from the evening included New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Reverend Jesse Jackson, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, California Governor Jerry Brown, Senator Chris Murphy, Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly, Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, and Michael Bloomberg. The headline speeches from the event were from Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama. Biden gave an energetic speech supporting Clinton while President Obama gave a stirring speech in which the overall message was America is better than Donald Trump. At the end of the speech, he was joined on stage by Clinton. A selection of the speeches are below and more videos from the Convention are available on YouTube.

The DNC released another set of videos highlighting Clinton’s long career, attacking Trump, and presenting an alternative to the Republican vision of America’s future.

Hillary Clinton Campaigns in Brooklyn

Hillary Clinton spent Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, New York where she met with voters and spoke at an organizing event. During the event, she was introduced by Representative Nydia Velazquez, then Clinton focused on immigration and issues within the Latino community. She stressed that the United States is a country of immigrants and that immigration reform is necessary to continue that tradition. Clinton also spoke about Puerto Rico and her proposal to give the territory voting rights and federal support for its economy. She asked for everyone’s support in New York’s April 19 primary. A full video of her speech is below.

Clinton also made a surprise stop at an Inner Circle charity event in New York City. Clinton appeared along side New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, and she referenced an issue she experienced earlier in the week when she tried to swipe a MetroCard to ride the subway in the Bronx. She said, “Will you just fix these MetroCard slots? It took me like five swipes.” She also thanked the mayor for his endorsement before adding, “it took you long enough.” All Clinton’s comments were made in the spirit of the comedy event presented that evening.

“Talk to Your Baby” Campaign Launch

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

AP969155414883Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared with New York City First Lady Chirlane McCray at SCO/FirstStepNYC, a pre-kindergarten center in Brooklyn, New York. At the center, McCray and Clinton launched a program called “Talk to your Baby.” The initiative, partnered with the Clinton Foundation’s “Too Small to Fail” early childhood education program, is geared toward getting parents to talk to their children at a young age to help their development. Clinton’s appearance in Brooklyn raised eyebrows as she is expected to announce her candidacy for president in the coming weeks and headquarter in Brooklyn. Her appearance with McCray is also unsurprising as her and her husband, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, have been long supporters of Clinton.

During a roundtable discussion with parents, Clinton said, “You are literally building your baby’s brain to better prepare that little boy or little girl to do well in school and do well in life. So from every experience, your child will be learning words, developing a vocabulary, making it possible to better prepare that child for school.”

A video from this event will be posted when/if available.

Clinton Partners with Univision to Promote Early Childhood Education

February 4, 2014

Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, officials from Univision, and local community leaders gathered in Harlem for a roundtable discussion about early childhood education and the issues facing Hispanic families. During the event, Clinton’s Too Small to Fail announced a partnership with Univision and Next Generation to ensure that children have the opportunities to develop their language skills early.

“We start with the recognition that too many children are behind by the time they get to school,” Clinton said. “Our Spanish language partnership will help Hispanic parents, grandparents and caregivers help to get their own children ready for school.”

The video above is from the Too Small to Fail initiative started by Clinton last summer. A video from the event will be posted when/if one is available.
