Former George H.W. Bush National Security Advisor Endorses Clinton

Statement by Donald P. Gregg, National Security Advisor to Vice President George H.W. Bush. The endorsement comes after 115 former Ambassadors – including 80 appointed by Republican Presidents – backed Hillary Clinton earlier this week and more than 50 national security officials urged Trump to disclose his financial conflicts of interests.

“I was in the Reagan administration for 8 years. I was Vice President George H.W. Bush’s National Security Advisor for over six years. I traveled with him to over 65 countries.

In my view the two great diplomatic overtures since World War II were carried out by Republicans — Nixon to China and President George H. W. Bush’s outreach to Gorbachev and the Soviet Union after the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

But we now have a person at the top of Republican ticket who I believe is dangerous, doesn’t understand the complex world we live in, doesn’t care to, and is without any moral or international philosophy.

I’ve met Hillary Clinton a number of times and followed her career in public service. I’m impressed with her knowledge and experience. She would make an extremely good President.”

Clinton Returns to Campaign Trail in New Hampshire

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton returned to the campaign trail following some time off for the Christmas holiday. She hosted a town hall event at the Unitarian South Church in Portsmouth, New Hampshire with over 900 in attendance. Clinton spoke about a number of topics from her platform, but she focused on the economy and her proposal to effectively treat and prevent Alzheimer’s disease. She then answered a number of questions from those in attendance, including a question from a young boy who wondered why his mom doesn’t make as much money has his dad. Later in the day, Clinton headed across the snowy state to Berlin where she held a second town hall at Berlin High School. She covered similar topics during the event and answered a number of questions from the crowd. She was asked about ISIS and their persecution religious minorities in the region, including Christians. Clinton stated that she believed that ISIS’s attacks on the Yazidi minority and other minority groups should be defined as genocide. She said, “America must wage and win an immediate battle against ISIS, al Qaeda, and other terrorist networks, as well as a generational struggle against radical jihadism.”

New Hampshire is important to Clinton because she currently trails Democratic rival Bernie Sanders in the New Hampshire primary polls. As part of a final campaign push leading up to the first primaries, Clinton hosted the town halls today and Bill Clinton will make several stops in the state next week. The New Hampshire primary will be held on February 9, 2016.

Clinton Wraps up New Hampshire Visit

Today, Hillary Rodham Clinton wrapped up her trip to New Hampshire with two town hall events. She began her day by visiting with patrons at the White Mountain Cafe in Gorham. She then went to Berlin for her first town hall at White Mountain Community College where the focus of her speech was on college affordability. She also spoke about strengthening, not privatizing, Social Security and her plans for health care. She was asked about last night’s Republican debate and said, “I heard a lot of insults and a lot of back and forth between the various candidates. You would have been better off watching the World Series because the debate, in my view, was a swing and a miss.”

Clinton then went to Littleton where she held a town hall at Littleton High School. The town hall was very similar to the one she held earlier in the day in that she answered a number of questions posed by voters. Videos from both of today’s events will be posted when/if available.
