Hillary Clinton Vows to Protect the Rights of People with Disabilities in Orlando Speech

os-pictures-hillary-clinton-rallies-in-orlando-013Yesterday, Hillary Clinton campaigned in Orlando, Florida. During her speech, Clinton praised Orlando for overcoming a number challenges it has faced this past year. “You showed the world what Orlando is made of: strength, love and kindness. This is something we could all use more of right now,” she said. Clinton then spoke about the primary focus of her speech which was her plan to expand job and educational opportunities for Americans with disabilities. Clinton said she has a full plan to ensure those with disabilities have equal opportunity because they “have so much to offer, but are given too few chances to prove it.” An outline of Clinton’s proposal is available on The Briefing, and a summary of what Clinton is proposing is below:

  • Work to fulfill the promise of the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Expand support for Americans with disabilities to live in integrated community settings
  • Ensuring that every child, no matter his or her background, can get a high-quality education
  • Improve access to competitive integrated employment for people with disabilities
  • Break down barriers to voting
  • Expand Social Security by counting the hard work of family caregivers and giving them the benefits they deserve
  • Provide tax relief to family members who care for elderly relatives, including those with disabilities
  • Support children, youth, and adults living with autism, as well as their families
  • Expand access to mental health services and eliminate the stigma that is too often associated with seeking out care

Kaine Interviewed on ABC’s “This Week”

Screen Shot 2016-09-04 at 8.08.24 PM

Tim Kaine was interviewed on this morning’s episode of ABC’s “This Week.” In his interview with host Martha Raddatz, Kaine answered questions about the United States’ relationship with Russia, Clinton’s lack of press conferences, and the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails. Kaine defended Clinton saying that she wanted the materials released to the public. “When Congress asked the FBI give us your notes, Hillary said, ‘yeah, that’s great, give them your notes, but let the American public see it’. And what these notes demonstrate is in very significant detail, why the FBI chose not to go forward with any additional proceeding. She did make a mistake, and she made it by deciding she wanted to use one device rather than multiple devices. She’s apologized for that, she said it was a mistake, and she’s learned from it.” Kaine then turned the conversation to Donald Trump and the fact that he has not released his tax returns. A video of Kaine’s interview is below.

Hillary Clinton Interviewed on “This Week”

Screen Shot 2016-06-05 at 9.21.20 AM

This morning, Hillary Clinton was interviewed on ABC’s This Week by host George Stephanopoulos. During the interview, Clinton and Stephanolpoulos discussed her stepped up attacks on Republican nominee Donald Trump and her plans to go after him in the general election. When asked if she thought being more like him was the best way to beat him, she responded quickly by saying, “No, not at all. I laid out in my speech in San Diego the crux of my concerns and my case against him on foreign policy and national security. And a lot of what he says plays into what I consider to be a very divisive and dangerous view of the world. And I think it’s important that we call it for what it is.”

Clinton was also asked about the final round of primaries coming up this week and her continued fight with Bernie Sanders for the nomination of the Democratic Party. She expressed confidence that she will be Democratic nominee after Tuesday’s primaries. Other topics discussed included her use of a private email server as Secretary of State and whether she was concerned about the current investigation by the FBI, and she also discussed several of her platform points. A video of the interview is below and a transcript from the episode can be read HERE.

Hillary Clinton on Good Morning America, Campaigns in CT

hc-hillary-clinton-campaigns-in-hartford-20160-016

On Thursday morning, Hillary Clinton appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America for a town hall style segment. Clinton was interviewed by Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos before taking questions from those in attendance. She was asked questions on a number of topics including some of her platform points, her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders, her thoughts on the Republican presidential candidates, and she was asked some light hearted questions as well. She was asked what her husband’s (former president Bill Clinton) most annoying habit was. She answered, “No matter how tired he is, he always feels like he has to read before he goes to sleep. That means I have to get up and go around and turn the light off before I go to bed!” A video from this morning’s episode is below.

Clinton then went to Hartford, Connecticut where she attended a conversation on gun violence held at the Wilson-Gray YMCA. Clinton also met with families of victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The discussion included families that have lost loved ones as a direct result of shootings or gun violence. During the 90-minute conversation, a number of the family members shared their stories, the group took questions from the audience, and Clinton said that she would fight for common sense gun control and the introduction of mandatory background checks before purchasing a firearm. She said, “If anything else was killing 33,000 Americans a year, we’d be doing something about it. I’m not here to make promises I can’t keep. But I will spend every day as President trying to get gun control.” A video from today’s event is below.

This evening, Clinton returned to New York City for a fundraiser hosted by Donna Zaccaro and Paul Ullman, Anne and John Zaccaro.

Hillary Clinton Appears on ABC’s This Week, WABC’s Up Close

Screen Shot 2016-04-17 at 10.37.57 AM

On Sunday morning, Hillary Clinton appeared on ABC’s This Week. During the interview with host George Stephanopoulos, Clinton was asked about her thoughts on Republican Donand Trump and his new nickname for her, her continued battle against Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination, and the continued call for her to release the transcripts from her Wall Street speeches. On that point she said, “You know, we have certain expectations when you run for president, one of which is release all of your tax returns ever since you’ve been in public life. Now all of a sudden, there’s a new standard. And I’ve said when it applies to everybody, you bet. I will meet that standard as well.” A video of the interview can be viewed at the news source below, and a transcript from the show is available HERE.

This morning, an interview with Clinton was also aired on a local New York show called “Up Close.” The interview, which aired on WABC, focused on Tuesday’s primary and Clinton called out Sanders for his negative turn in the campaign, something he said he would not do. She also spoke about his interview in the New York Daily News, an interview that has been regarded as one of his weakest. Sanders was unable to answer questions about what he would do to reform Wall Street and other policy points. Clinton took the opportunity to pounce saying, “He couldn’t answer basic questions. He just keeps diagnosing the problem.” Clinton told reporter Dave Evans that as president she will fight for America just as she fought for New York as Senator. A video of the full interview is available HERE.
