Hillary Clinton Wraps Up Campaign with Events in Three States

Hillary Clinton spent the final day of the campaign speaking at events in three states. She began at an event in Oakland, Pennsylvania where she outlined her vision of America and said that she wants “to be the president for all Americans, not just some.” She never mentioned Donald Trump by name, but she urged everyone to “rise above all of this hate-filled rhetoric.” She concluded her speech by asking everyone to get out and vote tomorrow adding, “I’m here to ask you to vote for yourselves, vote for your families, vote for your futures. … Because they are on the ballot.” A video from the event is below.

Clinton then traveled to Allendale, Michigan for a get out the vote rally on the campus of Grand Valley State University. Clinton focused more on her platform and the future of the country than she did her opponent. She spoke about her plans to create jobs, improve health care, make college more affordable, raise the minimum wage, and ensure equal pay for women. She said that if elected president, she will work for everyone and looks forward to working with Senators Debbie Stabenow and Bernie Sanders to pass a platform aimed at helping all Americans. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a rally was held in front of a crowd of several thousand. The event began with musical performances by Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. Bill and Chelsea Clinton then took the stage and briefly spoke about the importance of the election. Next, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama each spoke about Clinton’s platform and how she is the only candidate to carry on the legacy of the Obama administration. When Clinton took the stage, she urged everyone to consider the future of the country saying that she is optimistic. She concluded by asking everyone to get out and vote tomorrow. Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea wrapped up the campaign at a midnight rally in Raleigh, North Carolina. The event opened with performances by Jon Bon Jovi and Lady Gaga, then Chelsea and Bill spoke. They spoke about the campaign and the importance of voting tomorrow. When Hillary took the stage, shorty before 1 am, she spoke about her optimistic vision of the future and urged everyone to vote for the future they envision for our country. “I believe it’s the most important election of our lifetime. It’s not just my name or Donald Trump’s name on the ballot, it’s the kind of country you want,” she said. A video from the event is below.

Hillary Clinton Campaigns with Michelle Obama in North Carolina

Hillary Clinton campaigned with First Lady Michelle Obama in Winston Salem, North Carolina where they spoke to a crowd of over 10,000 supporters. Clinton spoke first about a number of platform points geared toward women including ensuring equal pay and paid family leave. She also attacked Donald Trump for his comments about and actions toward women saying, “I wish I didn’t have to say this, but indeed dignity and respect for women and girls is also on the ballot this election.”

Clinton then turned the microphone over to Obama who spoke about the importance of the election and voting for Clinton and other Democrats across the country. Most importantly, she stressed the importance of voting against Trump, although she never mentioned him by name. As Hillary said, the stakes in this election could not be more clear. This election is about something much bigger. This is about our children…. With every action we take, with every word we utter, we think about the millions of children watching us….. And why every day we try to be the kind of politicians that children deserve.” She concluded her speech by encouraging everyone to vote on November 8th or to take advantage of North Carolina’s early voting. While in the area, Clinton made a surprise stop in Greensboro where she spoke with voters in line waiting to vote. North Carolina offers early voting, and Clinton stopped and visited with several of them. Clinton was pleased by the turnout saying, “Early voting is really all about you. We’re going to have the biggest vote ever in North Carolina if all of you come out and vote.”

Michelle Obama Campaigns for Hillary in Phoenix

On Thursday, First Lady Michelle Obama campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton in Phoenix, Arizona. Obama spoke to a crowd of over 7,000 about the optimistic vision for America offered by Clinton and her campaign platform. She condemned Donald Trump for his hateful rhetoric, and she blasted his refusal to say that he would accept the results of the 2016 election, regardless of the outcome. She said, “You don’t keep American democracy in suspense.” Obama then spoke about the importance of voting and how Arizona will play a vital role in this election. She admitted that this election cycle has been rough, but she said, “Do not let yourself get tired or frustrated or disgusted by everything you’ve seen in this campaign. Please, be encouraged. I have traveled the world, and I am telling you we still live in the greatest country on earth. We have every reason to be hopeful. Remember that in difficult times, we don’t give up. Michelle Obama Campaigns for Hillary in New Hampshire

First Lady Michelle Obama was on the campaign trail today in Manchester, New Hampshire. Obama delivered a powerful speech denouncing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s comments about women and allegations of sexual assault against him. “We have a candidate for president of the United States who over the course of his lifetime, over the course of this campaign, has said things about women that are shocking, so demeaning. I simply will not repeat anything here today. Last week, we actually saw this candidate bragging about sexually assaulting women. I can’t believe I’m saying that, a candidate for president of the United States bragged about sexually assaulting women.”

Obama called Trump’s language hurtful and disrespectful to both women and men adding, “I can tell you the men in my life do not talk about women like this. I know my family is not unusual. They are loving fathers who are sickened by the thought of their daughters being exposed to this kind of vicious language about women.” She said that they way we as a society treat each other is important and she recalled telling a group of young women at the White House a few days ago saying, “I told them they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. First Lady Michelle Obama Campaigns in North Carolina

First Lady Michelle Obama campaigned for Hillary Clinton today in North Carolina. First, Obama spoke at the Charlotte Convention Center where she spoke about the stark differences between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. She said that while it is easy to lose enthusiasm during the long, rigorous political process, it is important to keep things in perspective. “Remember, it’s not about voting for the perfect candidate – there is no such thing. Candidates happen to be human. And this election is about making a choice between two very different candidates.” Obama then went on to speak about a number of Clinton’s key platform proposals. Obama then traveled to Raleigh where she spoke to a crowd of supporters at North Carolina State’s Reynolds Coliseum. She urged supporters to register to vote and to vote on November 8 to ensure that their voice is heard. “When I hear people say they aren’t feeling inspired in this election, I really have to disagree. Right now we have the opportunity to elect one of the most qualified people who has ever been president.” Obama spoke about Clinton’s long public career and her broad platform. First Lady Michelle Obama Campaigns in Pennsylvania

First Lady Michelle Obama returned to the campaign trail on Wednesday holding two events in Pennsylvania. Her first event was a rally in Philadelphia where she spoke at La Salle University. During her speech, Obama focused on a number of Hillary Clinton’s key platform points including reducing the cost of higher education. She also went after Republican Donald Trump for his attacks on her husband, President Barack Obama, and his lack of leadership, experience, and the temperament necessary to be president. “A president just can’t pop off or lash out irrationally. No, we need an adult in the White House,” she said adding that Clinton is the right person for the job. A video of Obama’s speech is below.

Obama then traveled to Pittsburgh where she spoke to a packed crowd at the Peterson Events Center. Her speech was similar to the one given in Philadelphia, and she focused on Clinton’s calm understanding of issues and her ability to understand details. She urged everyone to vote on November 8 and ensure that their voice is heard. Speaking to the crowd of primarily younger voters she said, “The stakes are far too high. First Lady Michelle Obama Campaigns for Hillary in Virginia

On Friday, First Lady Michelle Obama hit the campaign trail in support of Hillary Clinton. Speaking at a campaign event in Fairfax, Virginia, the First Lady spoke about Hillary Clinton’s experience as a public servant saying that, “No one in our lifetime has ever had as much experience and exposure to the presidency.” Obama also went after Donald Trump saying that the United States cannot afford his policies or his divisive attitude. She said that this election is extremely important adding, “So, we can not afford squander this opportunity, particularly given the alternative. Because here is what we know: That being president isn’t anything like reality TV. It is not about sending insulting tweets or making fiery speeches.” A video of Obama’s speech is below.

DNC Wrap-Up: Day 1

Last night was night one of the Democratic National Convention, and it was a packed event! The night was filled with speeches from  Representative Nancy Pelosi, Representative Elijah Cummings, Hillary for America Campaign Manager John Podesta, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Senator Bob Casey, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Senator Al Franken, Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Senator Cory Booker, and many more. The headliner of the night was First Lady Michelle Obama who delivered an impassioned speech supporting Hillary Clinton, and she firmly said, “I’m with her.”

Senator Sanders, Clinton’s rival for the party’s nomination, spoke in an attempt to unify the party behind Clinton. Sanders said that while he understands the disappointment of his supporters, it is important that the party unites and defeats Republican Donald Trump in November. He said that Clinton understands “the real problems facing this country and has offered real solutions – not just bombast, fear-mongering, name-calling and divisiveness.” Videos from a number of key speeches are below and all videos from the event are available on the DNC YouTube channel.

The DNC also featured several videos highlighting Clinton’s career and attacking Trump’s divisive attitude. With the two videos below, the DNC highlights Clinton’s commitment to combating substance abuse while the other video highlights Trump’s use of outsourcing as a business strategy despite his call for American made products.

Democratic National Convention Lineup Announced

We are a little over a week away from the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The convention will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center. The event will be held July 25 – 28 and will include delegates from all 50 states, Washington, DC, and U.S. territories. The main purpose of the convention is the formal nomination of the Democratic Party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates. The Democratic Party has announced the lineup for each day of the convention and the details are below:

Monday (7/25): United Together

Featuring First Lady Michelle Obama, Senator Bernie Sanders and DREAMer Astrid Silva

Gavel time expected at 3:00pm

Monday will focus on putting the future of American families front and center and how we’re stronger together when we build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top and when everyone has a chance to live up to their God-given potential. DREAMer Astrid Silva will share her story and her fight to keep families together.
