Chelsea Clinton campaigned for her mother in Aurora, Colorado on Tuesday where she spoke with supporters about Hillary Clinton’s blueprint for America. Chelsea discussed her mother’s plans to create new jobs by investing in American manufacturing and infrastructure, reducing gun violence by introducing mandatory background checks, and expanding access to mental health care. At the beginning of her speech, Chelsea was briefly interrupted by protesters, but she simply responded, “Love trumps hate, and we’re going to prove that November 8.” She concluded by asking everyone to vote. Chelsea Clinton returned to Michigan on Saturday where she spoke for about half an hour about the importance of voting in Muskegon. Chelsea spoke about a number of Hillary Clinton’s platform points including her plans to create new jobs, invest in manufacturing, and make college more affordable. She then took questions from the audience and was asked about a variety of topics including her reaction to the Black Lives Matter movement. Chelsea said that her mother has plans to reform the criminal justice system including updating the three strikes rule and minimum sentencing. “If we only focus on criminal justice reform, we’re not doing enough,” she said. In Battle Creek, Chelsea spoke about Hillary’s dedication to ensuring equality in the United States. She said that her mother has plans to protect the rights of women, workers, minorities, and the LGBTQ community. At both events, Chelsea urged everyone to vote on November 8th saying that the stakes of this election are very high for everyone in America interested in seeing the progress of the last eight years continued. Chelsea Clinton spoke at a campaign event on the campus of Appalachian State University. During her speech, Chelsea encouraged everyone to vote for Hillary Clinton and to take advantage of the state’s early voting. She explained that early voting is not an option in every state, including where she lives in New York, so those who are unable to vote on November 8th should take advantage of the opportunity. Chelsea also spoke about key points of her mother’s platform including her plans to raise the minimum wage, make investments in clean energy and infrastructure, and make college more affordable. Meanwhile, two fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was in Madison, Wisconsin and included lunch with Senator Cory Booker. The second event was in support of HFA and was in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania.
Chelsea Clinton published an essay earlier this week on the site Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls. In the editorial, Chelsea argues that it is the responsibility of every generation to keep pushing America forward. To illustrate her point, she outlines a number of key points in Hillary Clinton’s career. Chelsea speaks about her mother’s work for the Children’s Defense Fund, her work as First Lady of Arkansas to improve the public school system, her effort to pass the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and her time as Senator from New York. Chelsea concludes by saying that the most important thing everyone can do to ensure progress is to vote. Chelsea Clinton returned to Ohio on Wednesday for three events in which she encouraged early voting. At events in Cincinnati, Grove City, and Solon, Chelsea spoke about a number of Hillary Clinton’s platform points including her plans to raise the minimum wage, ensure equal pay for women, expand early childhood education, and make college more affordable. Chelsea said that it is really important to elect Hillary over Donald Trump because a lot of progress has been made and undoing it would be harmful for Americans. “Everything I care most about, and everything you probably care most about, is at stake in this election. The progress President (Barack) Obama has made — that I think gets far too little credit — the opportunities for further progress is at stake in this election and our core values as a country are at stake in this election,” she said. Chelsea spoke at events in La Crosse, Stevens Point, and Madison, and at each, she focused on the importance of voting because this election will have a profound impact on everyone’s future, and as a mother, electing Donald Trump concerns her. “Whomever we elect to replace President Obama will help shape the future for my children and your children and grandchildren,” she said. She spoke about a number of Hillary Clinton’s platform points including her plans to promote economic growth, create jobs, raise the minimum wage, and make college more affordable. Chelsea concluded each event by urging everyone to vote and to take advantage of the early voting available in the state. Hillary Clinton campaigned with Senator Elizabeth Warren today on the campus of St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. Senator Warren spoke first and went directly after Donald Trump and his comments about immigrants, Muslims, and women saying that it is important that we elect Clinton president. When Clinton took the stage, she spoke about a number of her platform points such as job creation, building the economy, and making college more affordable. But she also spoke about the support she is going to need in Congress to get that work done. Clinton urged everyone to vote for Democratic Senate candidate Maggie Hassan and to pay attention to more than just the presidential election. She concluded asking everyone to vote adding, “Please come out and vote on November 8 here in New Hampshire and prove once and for all that love trumps hate.” Watch a video from the event below.
Meanwhile, Chelsea Clinton attended a fundraiser on behalf of Hillary for America in New York City.
Senator Bernie Sanders campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton and local Democrats today in Reno, Nevada. During his speech, Sanders spoke about the importance of electing Clinton and rejecting the divisive rhetoric of Republican Donald Trump. He also spoke about the importance of voting local Democrats into office, especially the United States House and Senate. Sanders went after Trump on several occasions saying, “If we are going to take our country forward in a way that I think all of us know that we have to go, it is absolutely imperative that Donald Trump does not become president of the United States. I think that it is fair to say that based on character, based on policy there has never been in the modern history of this country or maybe the entire history of this country, a candidate less deserving of being elected than Donald Trump.” A video from the event will be posted when/if available.
In Tempe, Arizona, Chelsea Clinton campaigned on behalf of her mother on the campus of Arizona State University. She outlined Hillary’s experience working with foreign leaders and her history of bipartisanship as a Senator and Secretary of State. Chelsea spoke of the importance of compromise and rejected Trump’s vision of America saying, “There can be no common ground with bigotry. But we have to compromise where we can. I think we need that type of leadership.” She concluded by talking about the importance of voting on November 8th citing the close polls between Hillary and Trump in the typically Republican stronghold of Arizona. Meanwhile, two debate night fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was in New York City and featured former Mayor David N. Dinkins and Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan. The second event was held in Newton, Massachusetts and was hosted by the Jewish Community for Hillary.
On Monday, Senator Bernie Sanders campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton in Colorado. At a Get out the Vote event on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, he spoke about a variety of issues including the rising cost of a higher education, income inequality, immigration, and health care. Sanders addressed how Clinton and the Democratic platform would address of each of the issues and urged them to get out and vote on November 8th. “Politics and political engagement does not end on Election Day. We need you on the day after the election,” he said urging the crowd, most of them student, to remain politically active following the election. A video of Sanders’ speech is below.
Anne Holton, wife of Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine, was in Florida where she held two events in Pensacola. Her first stop was a Women for Hillary event during which she spoke about a number of Clinton’s platform points including plans to increase the minimum wage, create new jobs, ensure equal pay for women, and provide paid family leave. She praised the campaign run by Clinton and Kaine saying, “It is important to have that person-to-person contact, it is even more important with the negativity we have had this campaign season. Holton also spoke with volunteers and supporters at a local canvass kick-off. She encouraged them to keep knocking on doors, putting up signs, and making phone calls. Meanwhile, three fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America as the final fundraising deadline approaches. The first was in Bethesda, Maryland where Tim Kaine attended a private fundraising event. Then, in Dallas, Texas, a LGBT and Allies event was held featuring a conversation with Vic Holmes, Mark Phariss, and Steve Rudner. In New York City, a Broadway for Hillary event was held. The event featured an appearance by Chelsea Clinton but a number of performances. The performers included: Sara Bareilles, Angela Bassett, Emily Blunt, Matthew Broderick, Ayodele Casel, Alan Cumming, Cynthia Erivo, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Josh Groban, Jake Gyllenhaal, Neil Patrick Harris, Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Sarah Jones, Andrea McArdle, Sienna Miller, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Helen Mirren, Sarah Jessica Parker, Bernadette Peters, and Julia Roberts. On Saturday, Tim Kaine campaigned in Miami, Florida and encouraged residents to take advantage of the extended deadline to register to vote. The state gave potential voters an extra week to register in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. After being introduced by musician Pusha T, Kaine encouraged everyone to register to vote and ensure that friends and family members were registered as well. Kaine said that Florida is important for himself and Hillary Clinton and that Floridians could decide the election. “If [Donald Trump] loses Florida, it’s checkmate. Let’s do some checkmate and win,” he said. A video from the event is below.
Meanwhile, fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America in two states. The first event was in Jersey City, New Jersey and featured a conversation with Mayor Steven Fulop and Chelsea Clinton. The second event, in Chicago, Illinois, was a cocktail party with a special performance by Amy & Freddy.
