Chelsea Clinton Discusses New Book on Today Show

Chelsea Clinton appeared on NBC’s the Today Show earlier this week. During the interview, Chelsea discussed the 2016 presidential election with co-host Savannah Guthrie and her reaction to her mother’s loss. The primary reason for Chelsea’s visit, however, was the release of her new children’s book She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World. Chelsea Clinton Interviewed by Refinery29

Earlier this month, Chelsea Clinton was interviewed by Refinery29. It is her first interview since her mother, Hillary Clinton, lost the presidential election to Donald Trump in November. In the interview, Chelsea talks about the work the Clinton Foundation continues to do, but the main discussion was about how her mother’s supporters should move forward after the election. Chelsea said, “Everything we believed before the election, we still believe. Everything we worked so hard for, we have to continue to work hard for. It requires engagement in our own communities.”

Chelsea recommended that everyone step up by subscribing to reliable news organizations, taking part in peaceful demonstrations such as the Women’s March, and that everyone donate to organizations that are likely to suffer during the Trump administration such as Planned Parenthood. She said that no matter how we are feeling, whether we are hopeful or angry, we should turn those feelings into actions. “Use those emotions to engage and organize and advocate to protect and advance what you think matters most. Hillary Clinton Wraps Up Campaign with Events in Three States

Hillary Clinton spent the final day of the campaign speaking at events in three states. She began at an event in Oakland, Pennsylvania where she outlined her vision of America and said that she wants “to be the president for all Americans, not just some.” She never mentioned Donald Trump by name, but she urged everyone to “rise above all of this hate-filled rhetoric.” She concluded her speech by asking everyone to get out and vote tomorrow adding, “I’m here to ask you to vote for yourselves, vote for your families, vote for your futures. … Because they are on the ballot.” A video from the event is below.

Clinton then traveled to Allendale, Michigan for a get out the vote rally on the campus of Grand Valley State University. Clinton focused more on her platform and the future of the country than she did her opponent. She spoke about her plans to create jobs, improve health care, make college more affordable, raise the minimum wage, and ensure equal pay for women. She said that if elected president, she will work for everyone and looks forward to working with Senators Debbie Stabenow and Bernie Sanders to pass a platform aimed at helping all Americans. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a rally was held in front of a crowd of several thousand. The event began with musical performances by Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. Bill and Chelsea Clinton then took the stage and briefly spoke about the importance of the election. Next, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama each spoke about Clinton’s platform and how she is the only candidate to carry on the legacy of the Obama administration. When Clinton took the stage, she urged everyone to consider the future of the country saying that she is optimistic. She concluded by asking everyone to get out and vote tomorrow. Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea wrapped up the campaign at a midnight rally in Raleigh, North Carolina. The event opened with performances by Jon Bon Jovi and Lady Gaga, then Chelsea and Bill spoke. They spoke about the campaign and the importance of voting tomorrow. When Hillary took the stage, shorty before 1 am, she spoke about her optimistic vision of the future and urged everyone to vote for the future they envision for our country. “I believe it’s the most important election of our lifetime. President Obama Campaigns in Michigan, New Hampshire

President Barack Obama campaigned for Hillary Clinton and down ballot Democrats in two states on the eve of the election. After being introduced by Chelsea Clinton in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Obama stressed the importance of electing Hillary Clinton because her vision for America will continue the progress made over the last eight years. He said, “I feel I’ve earned some credibility here. Plants that were closing when I took office are working double shift now. … When I tell you Donald Trump is not the guy who is going to work for you, you need to listen. … Don’t be bamboozled.” He went after Trump and called him “uniquely unqualified” to president. Obama concluded his speech by asking everyone to consider the future and vote tomorrow. Watch a video from the event tomorrow.

Obama then traveled to Durham, New Hampshire where he spoke with supporters about Clinton’s vision for the future and criticized Trump’s divisive rhetoric. Speaking to a packed crowd on the campus of University of New Hampshire, Obama urged everyone to get out and vote, and, more importantly, to consider the future of the country as they are submitting their ballot. Clinton’s motto “Stronger Together” is a vision for the future that ensures everyone has an opportunity and not just a privileged few. Chelsea Clinton Campaigns in Philadelphia Area

On Sunday, Chelsea Clinton campaigned on behalf of her mother at five events in Pennsylvania. The events were in the vicinity of Philadelphia and included stops in Chester, Morton, West Chester, Norristown, and Elkins Park. At each event, Chelsea spoke with supporters and volunteers, and she outlined several points of Hillary Clinton’s platform. Chelsea’s primary concern was ensuring that everyone votes on Tuesday and that the volunteers knock on as many doors and make as many phone calls as possible between now and then. “I know that if we keep rooting this election in what really is at stake – for or families – or communities our country we will win,” she said. Chelsea Clinton Encourages Voters in North Carolina

On Saturday, Chelsea Clinton campaigned for Hillary Clinton in North Carolina where she traveled across the state. At events in Elizabeth City, Charlotte, and Asheville, Chelsea spoke about her mother’s platform and her plans to ensure equal pay for women, create new jobs, and create an economy that works for everyone. She concluded each event by asking everyone to get out and vote for Hillary and make sure their voice is heard. “Every vote really matters. Lots of people haven’t voted yet. Chelsea Clinton: Three Reasons to Vote for Hillary

Earlier this week, US Weekly published an article by Chelsea Clinton entitled “3 Reasons to Vote for My Mom.” The magazine asked the daughters of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to write a short article explaining why voters should support their parent, and only Chelsea responded. What Chelsea wrote is below:

1. She cares about children — not just her own (me!).

Growing up, I never doubted I was my mom’s first priority. My mom’s first questions over dinner always focused on what I’d learned that day and what I hoped to learn and do tomorrow. She would then share what she’d worked on as a lawyer and an advocate. I loved knowing what legal aid was in first grade and about health-care reform in eighth grade. I remember being so proud of what my mom was doing to achieve more and better opportunities for all kids, including her efforts to improve public schools in Arkansas.

I have so many memories as a kid of tagging along with my mom to work some Saturdays after my Brownie troop meeting or soccer game — a trade-off she made so she could be at those family dinners, those meetings and those games — and looking up to her (figuratively and literally!) as she worked so hard as a lawyer and champion for kids. My mom ensured I knew how lucky I was. Ensuring that every child has the chance to live up to their God-given potential is the driving motivation of my mom’s life. It’s why she’s still working on paid family and medical leave, early childhood education and health-care reform — and why she’ll combat climate change, make college actually affordable and so much more. She knows the future is at stake for all our kids.

2. She keeps fighting — and never forgets who she is fighting for.

I have seen my mom do some pretty remarkable things — and, yes, I am biased — including helping to create the Children’s Health Insurance Program [or CHIP, which offers low-cost health coverage to children]. In 1994, when I was 14, my mom’s efforts on universal health care were unsuccessful. It was hard to watch, but I wasn’t surprised when my mom didn’t give up. She dusted herself off and got right back out on the front lines to advocate for kids. A few years later [in 1997], CHIP was created. I don’t think it ever occurred to her to stop fighting, because she never forgot what’s at stake. Today, CHIP provides more than 8 million children with the health care they need.

3. She’s an example to girls.

Politics has taken on a new urgency for me since becoming a parent. Politics now feels more personal than ever before because I know who we elect both shapes the legislation that gets passed and sets an example for our children.

So, while I am unabashedly and unapologetically biased toward my mom, I couldn’t imagine a better president for our children and grandchildren. I am going to vote for the candidate whose actions and words tell my daughter, Charlotte, and my son, Aidan — and all children — that a girl can grow up to be president. And that would be true whether or not Hillary was my mom. I can’t wait to cast my vote for her on November 8 and hope you will too.

Chelsea Clinton campaigned for her mother today in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She spoke about Hillary Clinton on a personal level and how she was raised. “I’m really glad (my parents) made sure I knew how lucky and how privileged I was. Because my mom has been driven my whole life, and even longer than I’ve been alive, to do all the good we can for all the people we can in all the places we can for as long as I can. And that’s the bedrock for her campaign.” Chelsea then outlined a number of Hillary’s platform proposals including her plan to create new jobs and build an economy that works for everyone and not just those at the top. “My mom has ambitious goals, but she’s never going to say anything that’s unconstitutional. She’s never going to promise something she knows is impossible because of our structure of government, but she is going to work her heart out to push the limits of what is possible for our children, for our families and for women’s rights and human rights,” she said. Chelsea Clinton Campaigns for her Mother in Colorado and Wisconsin

Chelsea Clinton spoke at a Get Out the Vote event in Boulder, Colorado this morning where she urged supporters to get out and vote on November 8th. During her speech, Chelsea spoke about a number of Hillary Clinton’s platform points including her plans to raise the minimum wage and make college more affordable. She made the case for her mother saying, “This election is both about defeating Donald Trump and electing a woman who has been fighting for and delivering for children and families and women for literally longer than I’ve been alive. And I believe that if we keep talking to people about what is actually at stake in this election, we will win.” A video from the event is below.

Chelsea then traveled to Wisconsin where she spoke with supporters in Eau Claire and Oshkosh. At each event, Chelsea outlined her mother’s blueprint for America and spoke about a number of Hillary’s proposed policies including criminal justice reform and introducing common sense gun control. Chelsea also spoke about her mother’s plan to pay for her proposals by increasing taxes on those making over $250,000 per year. Meanwhile, middle class Americans, those making less then that amount, will not see any tax increases.
