Hillary Clinton Interviewed by Vox

On Monday, Vox released an interview with Hillary Clinton. She was interviewed by Ezra Klein, and the forty-minute interview covers a number of topics. What makes the interview between Klein and Clinton so unique is that it is less about politics and more about policy. Topics they spoke about include poverty, welfare reform, the national deficit, immigration, free college, and universal health care.

Klein the asks Clinton a series of broader questions such as the skills required for being a presidential candidate and why America has stopped trusting the political elite. The 2016 election saw the rise of two political outsiders (Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders), and Klein asks Clinton why she thinks that it is. HFA Statement on Trump’s VA Reforms

On Monday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump laid out his plan for reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs. His plan calls for a mix of government and private care options for our nation’s veterans. Hillary for America advisor, and Army veteran, Bishop Garrison released a statement saying that the plan was the first step to privatizing the VA and would not address the current issues. He argued that Hillary Clinton’s plan to update the VA systems to include modern technology is a better option for veterans and their families. A copy of the statement is below:

“Make no mistake about what Donald Trump just laid out. The policy reforms he proposed would put us irreversibly on a path toward the wholesale privatization of the VA. We can and must fix the VA to ensure it provides top-of-the-line 21st century care for our veterans, and Hillary Clinton has laid out a plan to do exactly that. But Donald Trump’s proposal would gut the VA of the resources needed to provide high-quality, coordinated care. Fully privatizing the VA – the inevitable result of Trump’s proposals – is not a fix at all; it’s an ideological crusade that will only compound the problem. It would deprive our veterans of access to the specialized care they require and deserve and leave them at the mercy of a private health care market that’s ill-suited to handle their needs.”

Senior Policy Advisor Ann O’Leary Fundraises for Hillary

Senior Policy Advisor Ann O’Leary attended two Texas fundraisers on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was on Sunday in Austin. The event was hosted by Senator Kirk Watson. Then on Monday, O’Leary attended a fundraiser in Houston that was hosted by Drs. Karla and Carlos Vital. As with all private events, they were closed to the press.

Clinton Endorsed by the Progressive Action PAC

Hillary Clinton received the endorsement of the Progressive Action PAC on Monday. In a release the group praised Clinton saying that she “shares our ideals and has worked to improve the lives of Americans her entire adult life – as an activist, a litigator, a First Lady, a Senator, and then a Secretary of State.” Clinton released a statement in which she praises the group’s work as “a champion for working people” and looks forward to working with them if she is elected. “I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Congressional Progressive Caucus’ Progressive Action PAC.

For 25 years, the CPC has been a champion for working people and on behalf of Americans who have been left out and left behind. And CPC members know, as I do, that we are stronger together.

That’s why we will fight to secure universal health care, raise the minimum wage, and protect Americans’ fundamental right to vote–not corporations’ right to buy elections. Clinton Endorsed by the Communications Workers of America

On Monday, Hillary Clinton was endorsed by the Communications Workers of America. In a statement released by the group, they said Clinton “has stood with CWA members and pledges her commitment to making life better for working families.” Clinton released a statement saying that she is honored to have received the group’s endorsement and looks forward to working with them if elected president. A copy of Clinton’s statement is below:

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Communications Workers of America.

For decades, the CWA has connected Americans to each other—and along the way, they’ve helped build the American middle class.

As President, I will always stand with the CWA to protect workers’ fundamental rights to organize, to bargain collectively, to be safe on the job, and to retire with dignity and security after years of hard work. I was proud to join the CWA on the picket line this year as they stood up to Verizon and fought for a fair deal.

And I will do everything in my power to defend American jobs and American workers. Any trade deal must meet three tests to earn my support: It must create good American jobs, raise wages, and advance our national security. I do not believe that the Trans-Pacific Partnership meets this high standard. That’s why I oppose the TPP — and that means before and after the election.
